You say not even trolling but your post sounds a lot like trolling

No not at all... It should be 1TB+ for $499 and that's it.

I think $499 and $599 for just a small bump in capacity is going to shoot them in the foot.

They're better off with a single SKU even if the smaller 825GB model as long as they figure out expandable storage before launch and let people add space that way.

Lol no. There is no "pro" model coming out alongside the PS5. Dont get your hopes up and then rage when it's not true.

If anything they'll release a model with more SSD memory. Same as they did with the PS3. That's about it.
Yeah that’s why the thread was bumped, didn’t you read?

So not really a Pro model, just bigger SSD? Or am I missing something

Native Spanish speaker here He exactly says:

"Ps5 tendrá dos packs iniciales:

Básica 499 euros
Premium 599 euros

Es Información de los comerciales de la propia Sony en reuniones a encargados de Game.
Del contenido de la Premium ni idea. "

"PS will have two bundles at launch:
Basic 499€
Premium 599€
Sony salesmen told this info to Game managers in meetings. No idea about the Premium SKU content or anything else."

So it doesn't sound like a PS5 Pro at all. Maybe it's just a bundle with a couple of games, or a bigger SSD (I doubt it because the size of current one is related to one of the tricks they do to increase speed/bandwith/etc), or a second DualSense and a year of PS+ or something like that.

In Spain we use the word 'pack' for 'bundle', traditionally for the console bundled with one or several games, but also with some accesories like PSVR, a second controller or stuff like that.

Yesterday he added:
"La Premium NO será un modelo mejor al estilo Pro, es un Pack como el Value Pack de la PSP en su día.
No se sabe el contenido exacto."

Which means:
"The premium SKU WON'T be a better console like the Pro, it's a bundle similar to the Value Pack released for PSP back then. Its exact content is unknown. "

So no PS5 Pro and no PS5 with a bigger SSD. It would be the console bundled with minor stuff like maybe some cables, a 2nd controller, maybe a headset or things like that.

In addition to this, it's posted random user that has been in that forum for 5 years and posted over 1200 posts, but as I know there is no verification system there for leaks in that forum. So take it with a grain of salt and please don't think it's something related to having a PS5 Pro or PS5 with bigger SSD at lauch.

100% agreed. It's a waste of a SKU. They could simply offer a 2x expandable SSD at profit (since it's a peripheral and they're usually sold for high profit margins) and that would be the much better business decision.

The earlier PS5 Pro rumors VFXVeteran VFXVeteran was mentioning a while back had more merit to them than a $599 PS5 SKU with simply a 2x bump in storage space. Seeing that Sony are already apparently deliberating on trying to manage costs on the base system, zero sense for them to void that for a $599 "Pro".

If it's true, I'll probably be spending the extra $100 to double the fast storage. I wasn't going to be spending more than $500 for the PS5 since I'll most likely be picking up the XSX as well. But doubling that proprietary Sony's storage capacity for only $100 more, that's a no-brainer for me.

I honestly can't say I feel the same way. Some of the same issues I have with Lockhart are at play here; how do they determine the ratio between the "standard" and "Pro" models to manufacture? If they're already supposedly forecasting 5-6 million in the first fiscal period, and they misjudge the demand for one over the other, that could leave them up shit's creek. If early adopters turn out to prefer more storage but the "Pro" unit only accounts for like 30% of the total unit volume, those are potentially lost sales by Sony going to Microsoft instead.

And it's not like I don't want MS to do well next-gen; I think they've got a real shot at gaining major traction if they keep playing their cards right, mainly in regards to XSX, Gamepass and Xcloud. But it's not like I want Sony to gimp themselves over and going with a $599 "Pro" that's only got 2x storage capacity, that might not even be manufactured in large volumes, ending up as the preferred SKU that they under-supply isn't exactly the way I would picture that happening :S

I'm almost a bit surprised either company is planning for dual SKU approaches right out of the gate, but I see a $599 PS5 "Pro" with just 2x more storage being a much bigger potential logistics and production problem/conflict than a $299 Lockhart. Guess we'll see how things shake out.

1.65TB sounds so wrong.

You're right. Easy 1.69 opportunity wasted. Thanks Jim, 'ya bloke!

Sounds like they are releasing it alongside a new premium headset, most likely one that takes advantage of the Tempest Engine.

On a side note: vaya puto coladero que es nuestro país, macho.

If true this is a fantastic deal to double the super fast, super expensive SSD capacity for $100, oh hell yes.

Well, I vote it's the console + 2nd Dual Sense + HDMI 2.1 cable + LAN cable + USB cable + crappy PS4/PSP-like earbuds headset. It would make sense to release something like that. And maybe 3 months of PS+ on top of that (I think the base PS5 will have a month of PS+).

This premium bundle should mean a discount for the player, while still provide an extra profit for Sony. Premium Sony headsets are priced at 100€ and more, maybe it doesn't offer a discount for the player or means no profit for Sony. In addition to this, in theory the tempest engine is designed to work with any kind of headset/speaker/tv speaker/home cinema and so on. So a crappy headset would do the job.

Los secretos vuelan en privado por todos los países, pero incluso aquí la mayoría de la gente no los menciona en público. Por ejemplo en España se están desarrollando varios juegos para PS5 grandes y pequeños, y nadie ha filtrado nada.

When you put it that way, I guess $100 for another 825 GB isn't that bad. Sabrent's 1 TB SSDs with 3.4 GB/s (IIRC) sequential read speeds are like $200 so Sony throwing in 2x capacity for $100 more is a steal. And I think there could be credence to the rumor because the route of them needing to approve 3rd-party drives for compatibility in PS5 systems could take super damn long, well longer than the time it'd take power users to max out the storage on the drives. Let alone the fact Sony can't control the pricing of 3rd-party compatible drives so there's no telling what the average MSRP will be.

If they pursue it, I hope they get the unit allocation split figured out correctly or it's going to cause some major problems. Same as I hope MS gets the split between Series X and Lockhart/Series S units figured out correctly, that way demand is being met for both.

I'd definitely take more storage but this doesn't sound right. Maybe only a bunch of pack ins.

How about that price tho??? Will ms really undercut if that's the real price?

The rumor doesn't say anything about a bigger SSD. It says the Premium SKU is the same than the regular PS5 SKU with some extra minor stuff bundled, similar what Value Edition was to PSP. So maybe stuff like cables, headset, maybe another controller, etc.

Hell, it can even be just the console bundled with a year or two of PS Plus+Now.

What ever SKU has the biggest internal storage I'm down for. Plus with the expansion slot were talking a decent amount of SSD memory.

Whatever. Not a single dev has a "PS5 Pro" kit.
The Lockhart mode however is very real on Xbox dev kits.

Have to say, like others, I’d be tempted by this.

What’s an extra hundred for much, much more room? Given the difficulty in finding compatible SSD drives for the first few years (Btw, I’m really hoping Sony sells their own from launch, with perfect PS5 compatibility), it makes a lot of sense to pay a little more, and not have to worry about cleaning out the fridge.

That is, if we’re looking at similar sizes to today’s games (often 100 GB, or getting close). If there’s a big reduction due to the SSD speeds removing the need for duplicated data, I could be talked into the 800GB.

I've said all along that I'd pay $600 if it felt worth it for the next-gen consoles. Is the extra space worth it? Maybe, and probably. I already hate managing the space on my 1TB Pro.

I don't consider that worth the effort, not out of the gate. They can't price that higher-tier SKU too highly or they'll be seen as price-gouging. If they under-produce the higher-tier SKU on purpose to drive peripheral sales for what's included individually, they'll also be seen as price-gouging. It's a no-win situation.

A 2x SSD size actually makes more sense out of the gate than a Premium bundle pack to be perfectly honest.

I mean, compared to the $500 one it sounds like good value but even having a $600 option seems risky, and further skews the debate when compared to a $500 XSX. I don’t think an extra .6 terabytes of storage space equates to $100 worth of moving the needle in that comparison. But then how does Lockhart fit in. What a wild time for consoles.

I mean it's possible. There was a 20gb PS3 and 60GB PS3.

The guy who posted that rumor on reddit is getting tore up in the comments though, lol.

Wow that is terrible... not even trolling here I just can't believe they're going with a smaller capacity for $500 out of the gate and then charging $599 for the model that will give closer to 1TB usable after OS and whatever else is on there? Yuck...

Don't believe this at all because if there was a PS5 Pro, there would be no reason to overclock the base model from 9.2TF to 10.3TF.

I could see two skus for the PS5, won't be called pro though. Sony can say they are starting at a $499 price, but everyone will want the premium one.

They have the fastest SSD in the market, it won't cost under 100€. And that size and speed matched certain stuff related to bandwith, compression, etc. to work flawlessly. Its number wasn't chosen randomly so I assume it would be difficult to make a different one.

In any case, the rumor said it's like a Value Edition, not a console with a bigger SSD size. If that would be the case the names of the SKUs would use the names of the storage size.

And well, Spain is for PlayStation like Nintendo fans are to Nintendo. Here everything with a PS logo will sell. Here even Vita sold well.

That rumor says that both SKUs have the same console and that the premium SKU is only the equivalent to the PSP Value Edition. So it's a bundle of the normal PS5 console with minor things, likely to be some cables and maybe a headset, a 2nd controller, or something like that.

That's what the PS4 did. I think it was called the gamer pack and game with a second controller and a copy of Killzone.

All I'll say is phone company's charge an extra $100 dollars for an extra 100gb ish of storage. This would be a steal for one of the fastest SSDs on the market.
