Tech demo through time

After the last tech demo which we saw about the Unreal Engine V running in PS5:

My last "what fuck that is even possible ?"

I was remembering the old couple tech demos and how every time amazed at what can still be done like for example:

Even the weak Wii have its potential

I don't know how many times I saw this tech demo in my old Xbox 360

Which do you remember maybe for the technical level achieved? or how they showed things that became standard?

4-Time GIF/Meme God

(very shiny, and basically all become something)

(Yu Suzuki made this with Shenmue in mind)

(yes, GBA's tech demo was Yoshi Island)

(kinda nice, but very limited)

(some people say that this was in full development until Nintendo confirmed cartridges as the media)

Ha, I remember the times when, to a certain number of us, High Voltage Software was a bleeding-edge developer on a little, little knife.

I also remember when The Conduit HD came out on Mobile and for a quick second I went, ""How?!" before my senses came back to me that it wasn't 2009 anymore.

That engine was trash and caused an entire generation of Final Fantasy games to become completely derailed though lol.
Wasn't that because the engine was originally build for PS3 architecture and then they had to adapt to X360 as well, after FF XIII went multiplatform?

The Wii U graphics demo they showed at E3:

...You know, looking at the Nintendo tech demos throughout this thread you sort of realise... Nintendo, for all the love they get, sure are utter bullshit merchants with their tech demos.

Basically different focus for different projects, I suppose

Looking at previous UE demos:

There's really not much new we saw in the latest UE5 demo, just a different technology under the hood, but still similar on screen results, still unreachable for the actual games.

Literally amazing

I watched this probably a hundred times back then. So cool.

Me too. I watched this so much back then and couldn't wait to play the next Zelda. Then I was sooooooo disappointed when I saw the visuals of Wind Waker...
I'm thoroughly over that now though. Wind Waker's visuals still hold up, this clearly does not.

Not exactly a tech-demo showcase video, but a playable techdemo back then was Cellfactor: Revolution. I remember playing this on a LAN Party back then and only one of us had a computer powerful enough to get this running past 10-15fps.

I thought this is it, this is the future.
In around the same time there where other playable techdemos from unreal engine I think. One was an arenashooter in which there was clothing hanging around and you could shoot holes in these clothings and even cut them by multiple holes.

Never saw this implemented in games.

The Conduit HD works fine on Android 10. I finished it a few months ago.

Along with that tech demo, the E3 demo was leaked ~5 years ago.

This is the most impressive tech demo ever.

Oh the memories. I first saw that on a Hungarian Gamestar DVD. I couldn't imagine seeing something like this in real life :D Back in the days I really liked the june/july magazines. So many great news about games
