I know, but my issues with it still stand, having people buy it because of Sega, when that brand is gone in future hardware (again, if it's not something for future consoles as well) is going to be an uphill battle once again. And for a market with potentially way less growth opportunity in the home console sector than other markets. I don't know, I just don't see it as the most profitable idea ever.

I have a suggestion: "the most American console in history".
They can start with Sega branding, then slowly introduce Microsoft co-brand, then switch them in place and slowly remove Sega one. That's how you usually do it. That's how for example Orlen did with their gas stations in Germany. They started by buying known German brand and slowly replacing it with their own.
I can see that being a good thing to come out of it, but without gaining big market share on the right markets, is USA a big consumer of the kind of games they would be able to pump out of that ordeal? I'm genuinely asking, I don't really know how big JRPGs and other kind of games like that are on the USA market, which is obviously Xbox's main market.
I think it's more a situation like you have a kid and the kid goes for an exam. You hope that the kid gets an A+ and until the results are announced you dream that you kid is the next Einstein. But when you finally get the results the kid got a B+. You don't disown your kid just coz of a B+.
If it really goes to MS, then I don't think it's just a rebranded sega-series x. We have to think about Segas financial situation on the one and sensible economic decisions on the other hand.
Fake.OK got hold of a document apparently from one of the retailers in my country. It is in Turkish and looks similar to official documents for PS4 generation when it was going on pre-order. And it has all the correct specs and everything but also information on BC, it says PS2 and PS3 games are BC on PS5 and not just PS4 games. I will share that now, feel free to discuss if it is fake or if it could be real.

I'm not defending this page, just wanted to point out that errors in technical specifications written by non-natives are very common. Part of my job is to translate manuals for medical and scientific instruments that are usually sold for hundreds of thousand $ per unit and they are full of errors like this.

In Cerny's presentation on backwards compatibility I thought it was weird to have so much empty space in that graphic. It leaves room for two more consoles to be named in the same font size. Why cramp everything in the top of you don't need the other space?

I would very much buy that. But the whole game would need a reimagination all the maps and boss encounters would have to be redesigned. If twin snakes can be a reference the maps are simple and uninteresting with just graphic upgrades to the source material. And David Hayter must reprise the role.
