Well they are both rectangular boxes, I saw the resemblance due to the dot pattern mostly. To this day I still think the Xbox One S is the most beautiful console ever made, I don't have one myself, but I really like the minimal design. It's a shame Andrew Kim didn't work on the XSX, he moved to Apple.
Agreed. There isn't too much to choose from in terms of shapes when designing a slick looking console.

Exactly. Every single day, there is something bad happening, somewhere in the world. So according to this logic, we will postpone announcements/reveals ad infinitum, waiting for the world to calm down. It will not happen.
Agree, every day sadly worst things happen in the world a lot worst , sorry but USA is not the center of the world, so please people don't be a hypocrite
specially when you are talking of a Japanese company (they also have its issues) and we are talking about company which make games and art not
weapons or use that situation in its favour.

So if a US citizen feel offended because Sony make a conference then I expect they will be also offend by all the announcements of any company because
you know that day they make an announcement something horrible happens in some country but who cares if not my country right.

What I found disgusting is people using that as weapon in this console war, if Sony want to make the announce is okay if not also is okay but just
because they want not because you want to feel special.

All machines have thermal issues these days. That’s why SmartShift exists.

Also PS5 is using RDNA 2 - a more power efficient design. So that 300W drops down to a more manageable number. Sony design their cooling for that chassis TDP - then there are “no more unknowns“ as Cenry put it.

Xsex went for a traditional solution but ugly design.

I doubt either box is going to have much more than a 200W chassis TDP. Smartshift will let Sony push more of that to the GPU.

A lot of talk about tflops and too little about power usage which with these gpu specs becomes critical.

No. Not every machine have thermal issues. SmartShift is solution for ultrabooks which are known to have terrible thermal design. Last time we had thermal problems in standard PC was with GCN5 cards (Vega and Radeon VII), but they were just absolutely terrible products pushed way over architecture capabilities.

They don't need new ways of cooling for 200W console. XOneX is already one (launch PS3 too, but it had separate GPU which makes it way easier to cool) and it works fine with rather standard cooling. RDNA2 is supposedly to be more power efficient, but there is no way it would be 50% more power efficient and it would need to be for PS5 to be 200W machine.

XSX isn't in any way traditional solution. Only other device it can be compared is famous trash can MacPro and I'm not sure if that's good thing.

SmartShift was created to optimize the use of batery when wants to increment the clock even nvidia has something similar now.

So according to you Sony and Xbox just wanted to throw money away by improving their cooling solutions?

Also of course the fact of they know RDNA 2 will be used in consoles affect the goal of improve the performance per watt.

For traditional he refers to lock the clock and use a huge heatsink, I think XSX is better in termals than apple trashcan because if not well that not be good.

Did they now remove the references to PS2 and PS3 on the Turkish retailer leaflet?

I don't speak the language, so I don't know if something else changed (I see they also fixed the name of the RAM).

Apparently, there are no references to that anymore.

if the event must be postponed then so be it. It'd be horribly tone deaf to try to promote it while the country's on fire
dont understand the people wanting civil rights protests to go away just to get their videogame fix
Trust that it would definitely get people to chill and have something else to be excited for! It's exactly what we need right now.

If you turn off the digital noise reduction/smoothing in your TV settings you won't get those thick borders around all the... everythings. It will show loads more detail instead of smushing it all together.

edit - Oh wait its happening on your feet/cables as well in the shot, guessing its the camera/phone that does it, thought I was giving you a revelation ha
There is a lot going on in that picture. Those wires are definitely in danger - yikes😬

OK what fuck is going with Sega ... smell like Tencent hahaha

I can't see what Sega can announce that would be at PS5 level.

Only assumption at this point, is maybe it's a revolutionary Arcade cabinet that display holograms, announced with a new Hatsuni Miku game that will use this tech. Obviously that's not a PS5 level thing, but i can see a lot of Japanese go excited about stuff like this, this stuff in Japan it's like what Star Wars is for Murica.

But IDC about all this. I hope it's VF6

Uh yes they do. That’s why they include heat sinks and fans to manage the heat dissipation.

In fact many of those RROD 360’s were down to poor heat dissipation.

Perhaps go do a little research on the topic of power management in electronic devices so you can probably discuss it.

IMO it's not something on the PS5 level, they meant it's as exciting as the PS5 wired article.
As long it was no exaggeration I don't think it's just a new game, IP or console like the PS5 or series x.

It's great to see them committed to their approach, nothing wrong with that. It's more interesting if everyone isn't doing the same thing. I'm not sure why Sony super fans have such a problem with MS marketing, do they think that MS should just recommend PS? LOL News flash: Every brand is going to act like their product is the best thing since sliced bread.

Nintendo has also shown that if you can create fun games that people want to play, they will, even on dated hardware like the X1 VCR.

Problem is, Aaron is doing more harm than good with that kind of approach. Also, he directly contradicts what, his boss, Phil Spencer said.

Can this switch on your console and TV from standby? I always wondered what's the purpose of that event thing.

I am not sure, as I have never tried to put the console on standby right before the event and check if it comes to life; maybe I should try it and see if it really works that way.

Maybe someone can impart some findings if they have them?

But can't you say every console is mini-itx?
No, ITX is a standard which includes a PSU inside the box, for example. When you build PCs, you need certain standards to guarantee that the assembled parts won't give you problems. Consoles are ready solutions so no need for that. But the design of XSX is nothing new. I've seen ITX boxes with motherboards split the same way: northbridge and southbridge components on separate PCBs at least 15 years ago.

Maybe some sort of partnership with MS to give the latter permission to make games based on their IPs?

I mean, we have rumors of Sony doing this with Konami ...

Would be big, but it was disconfirmed already it seems that it's not MS related. (Unless they meant not Xbox hardware relate, still a deal with MS? hum)

IMO it's not something on the PS5 level, they meant it's as exciting as the PS5 wired article.

Maybe not one game announcement, but a bunch of games announcements?

Either way, i just hope it's VF6.

To improve battery life and help with thermals. To be fair almost all of laptops have bad thermals (ultrabooks just are worst case). Friends HP was so bad, that it could throttle on watching youtube video if cooling system was little bit dusty.
They don't want. They have to which means that new consoles will be over 200W of power. Probably around 250 with 300W absolute maximum.
AMD expects 50% more performance/wat. Not only from less power consumption but also from higher IPC, VRS and other things. New fabrication process will give them only 10% power reduction according to TSMC (that's actually less than I expected), so instead of 250W card now we have 225W one.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT!
Requirement of using heat sink and fan is not thermal issue. Thermal issue is throttling under load or overheating of device. What you said now is like saying that car has "power issue" because it require engine.

And all this time I thought cooling fans and heatsinks were supposed to keep a device in operation before it heated up... guess I was wrong.

If you don't see a difference between keeping device operational and not being able to keep device operational, then you have problem.

I've signed up but it says Twitch so I think I'll switch to YouTube anyway. Twitch has terrible stream quality (while YT is just bad).

I know people pay to watch sports live in 4K. Why can't we have a similar service for gaming conferences?

Indeed, I noticed the Twitter button, so I guess IF I have the PS4 on at the time of the event, it will probably open Twitch? I don't think so though, my guess is I will just get a notification and have to do it manually. But still not sure on getting the PS4 back into gear if it's on standby mode.

oh FFS if they sacrificed noises to make it slim... i am hoping they make a big deal about it being quiet at the reveal

PS4 Pro is the worst designed hardware i have ever owned in my life, i have never heard a worse console... never before has a console made me not want to play games on it just so i didnt have to hear it

I really found funny that the ps4 Pro is just a ps4 with another slice of power on top.

If it really blows the gaming industry like it was claimed it will be a new hardware. But I don't think it's a traditional one like ps5 or series x. Sega would have no chance of surviving this duel.

This guy is a french MS fanboy who believe Blue negroho and MisterXmedia bullshit.
He is part of a fanboy group like the Tim Dog and dictator FUG gang on discord.

Yes, this guy was spreading that power doesn't matter for the first years of PS4/XO gen. Then change his ID name to Xbox 12TF rdna 2, PS5 9TF RDNA1 the second MS reveal Xbox series X spec, he was so heartbroken to see that PS5 is indeed RNDA2, took him months to finally be able to come to the reality and facts, and change his Twitter name back, kinda weird for someone who doesn't care about power in console, gotcha.

I have even more stories about this, but i don't wanna go deep on it and i i just don't care about those, but this guy lies as much as he breath, can't stand those kind of people, just ignore it.

Yeah i can see Sega surviving another console Hardware fail, that's why i don't think it will be something like that.

Personally still think it's an Arcade related thing.
