PlayStation 5 Reveal on June 4th Postponed

Racism has no boundaries. Sony is right to postponed the PS5 event. After all, we can wait. The changes that this global movement can bring can't wait any longer.

The only change this will bring like all protests in murica are fewer buildings on the streets

Its sad but its for important reason hopefully it will be calm in the next 2 weeks and then they do the event
They're doing it because they know that the news is dominated by something else and want to wait until the PS5 can be the dominating news.

I guess that is an "important reason" to them, but pretending to do it for good reasons by using a murdered man like some tool is borderline despicable.

You're going to be waiting forever. Anyone who thinks we can get rid of racism 100% is delusional.

And no, I don't say this to be mean. Have you ever tried to make everyone a millionaire but then realize billionaires still exist? That's the problem with "equality".

put yourself in their shoes and put on a marketing guy hat on.

Public Relation image is important. As a brand and a company, sometimes timing goes to shit when they are currents events happening nationwide that make a timing for a reveal not opportune.

Say “Event is postpone because of the current situation”. But acting like you care about this means that you were blind to everything that happened before.

Again, people need outlets right now that ARENT rioting and looting. SONY and any other entertainment company are in perfect positions to help with this. A reveal to give people something to look forward to, and give people reasons to stay out of trouble, would only help. This is purely because these companies are worried about their bottom line. It's disgusting.

lol the virtue signaling is on a whole other level.

i wonder if sony cares to hear the voices of gays or women being stoned in the ME or muslims in concentration camps in china. guess not.

but sony wants you to be able to hear the voices of people rioting, destroying property, pulling white people out of their cars and beating them because of their race, ect.

you can show solidarity with George Floyd but to postpone your event for the likes of antifa and criminals is INSANE

Get outta here with that shit. They are donating to the cause they r delaying their events. They have issued statement with harsh responses to people who were trying to handwave the issue. What else do you want them to do ?
Get a grip dude

The problem of profiling based on how you look happens in every country,

If your wearing a 3 peice suit, waste coat and leather shoes with a brolly and immaculate walking in Mayfair, does not matter your race or colour, police will say good day to your sir.

If your wearing a hoody and ona street corner in Brixton at night, you might get stop and searched for drugs. The hoody guy could be a young doctor, and the 3 piece suit guy a gangster villian.

How do you tackle some peoples perception of others on how they look. Its probably worse in USA with the gun culture, act or shoot first, question later.

No it's not, stop peddling this bullshit.

London has a bunch of uppity rich kids that have been locked up and bored for a few weeks, of course they're protesting. Those fuckwits would protest protesting if it was something to do. I can't speak for the whole of Europe but apart from those super-glued to social media, nobody gives a fuck.
So you want to claim that racial profiling and institutionalized racism isn't a thing outside of the US, apart from cops randomly killing black people?

Despicable? If you were in their shoes, what reason would you give the public for postponing?

I’m amazed by how most of you in this thread are reacting to this delay.. my favorite so far is the argument that the world is a dark place and we should, at all cost, with the exception of a nuclear war or an alien invasion, should proceed with all planned events especially the video game/console events because:

1) I’ve been waiting a long time
2) It will cheer me up
3) I need this distraction
4) I need to decide to preorder or not right now

and then to wrap it up, call Sony a hypocrite for standing in solidarity in this particular case because they haven’t done so in the past for every war, famine, natural disaster in recent history which effectively puts a impossible bar to meet for any company, human being on this earth.

Is it so unimaginable and wrong to both want the best for your company AND to also not wanting to show disrespect to everything that is happening right now?

Lol at the nerds complaining about this.

I will tell you what the reveal will be... A bunch of the same crap ass creed, fallout, souls, far cry, cod etc.. etc... in better resolution with better textures and lightning.

It's been the same crap for two generations now with games running on ancient engines of consoles that are no longer unique and put together with some mid level off the shelf PC parts.

Now they have you gassed up as if SSDs are going to "Revolutionize" the way you play when in fact it's going to be the same old franchises without loading times.

Throw in the Cerny babble and a demo video that will reach that level of quality on the PS7 and you have your show.

Thank me later.

This sucks, but I can respect that. Sony losing a lot of money here folks. They don't want to do this, but it's the right thing to do.

Bingo. Not sure why it's so hard to understand.

I don't actually care about the delay, it's a minor inconvenience for me at best.

But people tripping themselves over Sony's PR and acting like they're making some kind of brave stance are another kind of pathetic.

I too love when billion dollar entities pretend they give a shit about social justice. Y'know, the same companies that have their products manufactured en mass via borderline slaves.

Get a grip.

Drink the Kool-Aid if you want, but they put out a public statement pretending to be "good guys" by using a victim of murder as a tool.

Every company is piggybacking off the situation to put their messages out about how much they care about black people while not actually caring at all. Sony didn't want to lose news articles and eyeballs and that's as deep as their decision went to delay this. Then, they saw an opportunity to make you feel all warm and cozy about them in the same breath and you fell for it.

THIS a million times^

This is a pure marketing decision from Sony because the *SPOTLIGHT* won't be on them for the PS5 news. I actually think this makes them look worse then just going ahead with it.

Don't let their "feel good" message deceive you. They don't care. They only care for the most media coverage. Going up against riots they won't win.

Think about it and let it sink in.
Of course it would be a PR nightmare and that has affected their decision but here's also a chance for them to support a movement that hopefully will have positive repercussions. Does it have to be one or the other?

Yes, because postponing a video game event will do wonders to end racism around the world. Sony is so brave.

Plenty of much more greater tragedies happen everyday and Sony didn’t care.

Embarassing PR movement.

Yeah, every day. But without protest at this scale and with such vandalism.

Btw.

National Guard civil unrest update: More than 17,000 troops in 23 states and DC activated

Guard troops have now been activated in Arizona, Alaska, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin and D.C., according to Army Master Sgt. Michael Houk, a National Guard Bureau spokesman.

War in Palestine = Sony sleeps
War in Darfur = Sony Sleeps
Mexican Drug War = Sony sleeps

One U.S officer who was just arrested and is no longer a threat to society = "This is just too much for us to handle!"
yeah as if Palestine, Dafur or Mexico were as important of a market for them, this is about business.

What's your counter argument that people need some good news in a world full of so much hardship and darkness?

Also why this event in particular should be the one Sony use as a reason to delay the conference? (which is ultimately just a video).
