The Last of Us 2 really is becoming my GOTY despite me not wanting, watching, supporting, or liking it in any real way.

I’ve been lifting weights for years. As I said, I’m not Mr. Universe but I’ve seen muscular women on the regular. Abby was modeled off someone that for sure is on the juice. It’s not that her body is impossible, but it’s impossible naturally in the post-apocalypse. Nobody else is as muscular as her, including the men. Some of the men are physically bigger, but that’s biology.

Owen is more muscular than Abby. Also, maybe she is taking peds. Since there is no more government, stuff that was illegal or controlled in the past wouldn't be anymore.

Where do you go to the gym? Women that look like Abby are not a regularity at any of the gyms I've been to, and the ones that do almost certainly have used some kind of performance enhancing drug to achieve it. Abby has many of the signs of steroid abuse, right down to the pec tits. So I wouldn't say Abby's design is unrealistic, it's just not natural or common.

I agree with this. Guy knew what he was doing. The art community is a small community. You don’t shit on each other. That’s the rule. Has nothing to do with SWJ. Is it so hard to undersand that people might have an issue with this Character are at least somwewhat justified because nothing explains why shes the only one who looks like this ?

Can we stop with these dumb, reductive takes from people who either have not played the game or haven't given any thought to it? The game is about the destructive cycle of revenge, and Abby looks the way she does because her father was killed by Joel, and she is obsessed with finding and killing him (i.e., killing the guy who single-handedly murdered an army of Fireflies in a facility she lived in).

Sure, it is unlikely that even someone really dedicated could get that muscular. But it's not impossible. And in any case, it is meant to tell you something about who she is and what she has been thinking about every day after the day her dad died.

iirc, The time skip was just 4 years. In 4 years, she got all the nice supplement and rest to build up all those "body building" muscle mass, in an apocalypse. It's hard to believe.

TLOU2 is one of the more thoughtful, better written games ever made, whatever its narrative flaws. Druckman and the character designers know very well that Abby looks like an aberration. She is supposed to. I have not seen a single person on this board engage with WHY she got so big, or what that says about the character.

Is this what all the fuss was about? He made a comment that wasn't even hateful or bigoted (hell I wouldn't even classify it as 'rude' like the next comment implies), yet somehow that's enough to get him threats of being blacklisted? WTF? Are creatives so pussified right now that they can't stand when their fellow artists offer some negative critique and like clockwork go into cancel mode?

There was a time when creative people could shit on each other without letting it get personal and calling for the other's head. JRR Tolkien once read a passage from an early draft of The Lord of the Rings to his literary group the Inklings and one of his friends in the group, Hugo Dyson exclaimed, " Oh God. Not another fucking elf!" And Tolkien himself was very vocal of his dislike fellow Inkling CS Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia books. But each of them took it in stride and accepted the fact that as a creative not everyone was going to like their work. No one whinedthat their art wasn't being appreciated by their fellow artists and acted like soyboys like today.

Why don't we just do away with the pretense and just tell it like it is? This is just another example of SJW hypocrisy on display. They're free to criticize and demand censorship of alleged sexy character designs in videogames but when a design done by one of their own (Neil Druckmann) is the subject of said critique? They immediately lose their shit and demand retribution. We've seen it happen with JK Rowling, Dave Chapelle and many others. Screw these people.

WLF have doctors and took over an abandoned hospital. So yeah, they would just be laying around like the rest of the medical supplies they find. Yes, they are pretty in your face with it as well without outright putting you into FF7 gym mini games. She lives in a football stadium and in the room right next to the gym, her name is up on the board for best female bench press. Its also shown she had access to significant protein with a functioning butcher down the hall. Through flashbacks she is shown pushing away any emotional attachments in order to go train, her love interest Owen gets rejected so she can go train. Its a big theme, obsession caused by the desire for revenge and Abby hits the gym like she'd taken to heart every recommendation in a GAF break up thread

Im betting if they showed her injecting steroids you'd all just be using that as proof of "the agenda". But not doing that, its somehow impossible and Naughty Dog did wrong for not testing their body model for enhanced HRT levels

Are you speaking out of the experience? How many women athletes and bodybuilders do you know? I know for sure that I have no clue about that particular scene so I would be cautious with generalized answers like this...

Everybody is angry all the time in this game. I would not say this is only an attribute of Abby. It´s the cycle of violence that is at the core of this games story.

Also, I would disagree that she doesn't look recognizable as a woman. That's not true at all. At least in my opinion.

Although she is not my type, I still think she is feminine as she is a woman. Her being muscular is not changing that.
