I was watching this trailer recently and it dawned on me that something like this would not be "acceptable" in today's environment. Or am I wrong? I thought this was a particularly interesting example because we haven't had many games that have been in development for long enough to have crossed the pre/post SJW movement. A few possible thoughts of contention:

1) Here you have a beautiful woman - does this objectify women?
2) She's on her knees - really? A woman can only be portrayed as weak?
3) The blood might be interpreted as a "damsel in distress", she's hurt and needs saving.
4) Her augmentations; a woman can't be "complete" without "man kind's" interference.
5) God only knows what other insanity you could infer from this trailer.

Thoughts? Could this trailer be released in 2020 without facing a shitstorm?

I don't usually do this. For example I see many scenes from old Simpsons episodes that wouldn't work today. They're a product of their time and it's as simple as that. But as I said, this one is different because it's a trailer for a game that has transcended the pre/post SJW movement. We don't actually have many games / movies / tv shows that have been in development for long enough to do this. So this is the one trailer I thought stood out for this reason.

There will be plenty of controversy over this game rather than dig up 7 year old marketing material.

Maybe I'm in the wrong, but I saw the trailer differently. To focus on just your points -

1) An attractive female robot/cyborg - bullets bouncing off of her.
2) On her knees as that was simply the last position she was in after her killing spree.
3) I thought all the blood was from her victims.
4) You're assuming that only men can create augmentations!?
5) I'm no God, I just thought the trailer was cool.

If the trailer was released now, I'd probably view it in the same way.

Agreed, I'm definitely guilty as being as bad as them sometimes. Ping ponging between extremes is the best way to find the middle ground IMO. I hate finding myself on either ends of the extreme left and right. And forcing myself to see both perspectives is healthy IMO. I force myself to watch alt right and alt left videos on youtube for example. It's painful but very useful.

If the later.

This trailer shows what is a prime problem in the tabletop version of the game, ie getting too many augments which a human brain can't follow through and ultimately you snap out of control, becoming an actual monster / killing machine.

The unit you see behind the woman is a member of the MAX Force, which is highly trained to deal specifically with the most dangerous freaks out there. It doesn't fucking matter if its a woman or not : put it down. The game also has much much more of that kind of material and I'm FULLY expecting 2077 to be deemed as a problem, even if the only assumption I'm making out of it right now is that we'll be forced to deal with a revolutionary path in order to save ourselves (thats why I'm waiting for the reviews because I want that kind of manichean bs out of the way, I'm sick of it)

Because if I ever play this shit, I'm intending to go full corpo and harvest the shit out of people and sell body parts to gangs
