Here is a Halo fan's sincere live-reaction to the Halo gameplay bit. Most people don't care as much about graphics as us here - or more so, actually due to being such a fan of a certain franchise is completely unable to see anything wrong with it. Dude almost cries from the get-go, and when the actual gameplay starts he is blown away.

I guess this is just a showcase of people seeing what they want to see. Undoubtedly goes for both sides.

It's called being a shill/fanboy. Anyone who's normal can see halo looks like crap
Also, a lot of these people do this super over dramatic hype reaction stuff in the hopes they go viral and/or get recognition from xbox by retweets/sharing thier reaction

This is what I keep thinking about. If Sony have anything like this up their sleeve for the next few weeks, this shit is over again before it’s even begun... just like last time.

And I take no real pleasure in saying that. I was willing Microsoft on to land some heavy duty shit on us that would tip the balance back towards them again - because competition is always a good thing for consumers, and instead we get:

Die-hard fans always have these over the top reactions. I also thought it was a bit much when I saw people cry over the Demon's Souls trailer.

"Microsoft had promised to send heavy with the Halo Infinite campaign and it is indeed real gameplay that was presented tonight. During a session with the developers, we were able to get some new information about the game, and we can now confirm that the gameplay demo shown at the Xbox Games Showcase was actually running on a PC, and not on Xbox Series X."

So it wasn't the Xbox Series X version of the game according to this article. So take what you saw with a grain of salt.

Edit: Sorry about the link not working before.

I'm not even tripping but I swear in this very thread I read a number of posts about how Halo E3 2019 trailer showed better visuals than anything on PS5 keynote. While, there were many championing how it was built to take full advantage of Series X hardware. It's tad funny to now hear about how it's an Xbox One game. Even, Greenberg doesn't backtrack this quick!

Do it, Sony.

I think its a little further out. Perhaps next year they'll reveal it. I feel they'll show us one of the rumoured big budget project from Japan Studio.

Overall thoughts:

- Halo Infinite - I thought this looked fun.. I actually liked the style reminscent of old Halo, sure the graphics lack polish but the gameplay looked smooth..like the IDEA of an open world Halo either way, but I want to see more scale.
- State of Decay 3 - I played 2 at PAX West and thought it was kinda fun.. but eh.. CGI trailer.. what's the game gonna offer?
- Forza - Probably the best engineering team from a graphics standpoint MS has.. and I thin these games are fun, but I prefer Horizon.
- Everwild - Might be cool.. is this a game though?? Can't tell.. nice art style.. the fuck is with these CGI trailers? Do we even know a GENRE on this one? lol
-Tell Me Why (I should give a fuck?) Another CGI trailer.. generic "adventure game".. chapters.. ZZZZZ
- Ori - Yeah whatever, people like this game, good for them, just don't care
- Peril of Gorgon - Outter world's failed to really capture me.. not sure I care
- Grounded - If I had kids, maybe they'd play this
- Avowed - I'll be excited years from now about this.. glad it's being made, but Outter Worlds didn't impress that much so we'll see
- As Dusk Falls - I like games not interactive movies
- Hellblade 2 - They didn't show anything new
- Psychonauts 2 - Not a platformer fan
- Stalker 2 - Oh hell yeah, in for this..BUT fucking A show some gameplay
- Warhammer game - Could be good.. I'll just it when they.. SHOW SOME FUCKING GAMEPLAY
- The Gunk - another dinky little adventure game.. zzzz.. and again with no gameplay
- Medium - Survival horror walking simulator.. zzzzz
- PSO2 - Don't care
- CrossFireX - Looks kinda cool, never even heard of the PC F2P game tho..
- Fable - Yeah we know this game exists.. what's it like? Still don't know

Man that was pretty drab... I am looking forward to trying Halo Infinite; I have GPU anyways.. might try re-playing Outter Worlds knowing some DLC is coming.. excited for the future of Obsidian in general but feel like Avowed is far off.

I'll be mostly playing this shit on PC.. although Halo plays like shit on PC, so probably play that on XSX.

I'm getting one either way for my wife as she plays Destiny 2 on both Xbox and PS4 so there's that.

It could be poorly optimised, but I really do think it's a limitation of the engine. Here's a clip of the ~1-2 seconds after exiting the map screen:

There's no reason why the XSX can't load this in more efficiently. This and the fact that they're patching in ray tracing makes me think the XSX version is getting shafted by XB1.

They've always had weird shit like that in Halo engines.. I remember Halo 2's randomly horrifying models that will fill in their parts lol

Man I wearing right now a T-Shirt of Halo with says "Spartans never dies".

Believe I am not sure how to feel me right now after that gameplay, I need to play it to say more.

I care more if the game is good in mechanics and story than good graphics but that doesn't mean I don't think Sony
have some games in PS4 which looks better that game running in XSX yeah is 60fps but is a console with 12TF with XVA :lollipop_squint_tongue:

Yeah people cried over Nintendo saying a new Zelda was coming to their new platform (like it has for all their platforms) that one time. Some OTT fans crying at the mere existence of something we knew was coming is great for them but doesn't show the average Joe's reaction or the general narrative around a game at all

Didn't open for me. What was it?

This is the same type of guy that will tell you Halo has a really good story cause you just need to read the books. Okay, bro.

It's nice that he's excited and all, but come'on.

7 year old pc?
Why isn't MS showing their games running on xsx? Are they purposefully holding back their graphics? Like minimal settings just so they can show "more" stuff later on? That would be really stupid and confusing for everyone.

At this point I simply can't take this "console-war" for real. This ain't no war. If what both companys showed off will be playable in the same fidelity and quality as in those videos sony has already won.

I think if it was not running on the series X at this stage then that is a real reason for worry.

on the youtube video, they say its representative of Xbox Series X gameplay so they themselves confirmed it was the PC version.

The real problem is that there will be no Halo Infinite sequel. this is a game as a platform. They will have the xbox one 1.3 tflops gpu and jaguar CPU hold back every new piece of Halo software going forward.

What a horrendous idea.

After watching it two more times I actually dont think the graphics of Halo all that bad. I mean not outstanding or anything close to what they promised with their hardware. But its completely fine. But I also stay by everything else I have said. Animations and sounddesign are subpar. Game feels very slow and has a lack of impact. Which is way I am not sure if its all that fun to play compared to modern FPS's that go all out with that stuff like Doom or CoD.

This is 343 a Microsoft 1st party studios that's in charge of producing one of their biggest franchises.

I find it hard to believe they don't have a Series X developer kit. So it is kind of weird that they are showing this on a PC instead of a Series X developer kit.

If it was a 3rd party I can understand why they would do something like they because dev kits can be hard to get at times. But a 1st party studio?

I really don't understand why they made this decision.

They just release a game the last year, this is a studios with people not machines.

At least we want more CGI.

The worst part of the conference/video/event was not the graphics was the quantity of CGI.
He asked which studio didn't show their new game yet. Just saying it's Coalition that wasn't in his list. They are rumoured to be working on a new IP, obviously not ready to show anything yet since it's very early.

Man, what was up with Halo? Is it just me or did they up the cartoonish style even more heavily than in previous entries? What’s going on with the mountains? Looks like long cylindrical pieces connected to each other. I guess it will play smooth at 60fps but I’m not feeling the visuals.

I think if you are constantly pushing a narrative of most powerful console and 12TF, you have to give a better representation of that, especially for your flagship game!

The Medium was one of the most interesting games for me, but it was labeled as a “console launch exclusive” so I’m guessing PS5 owners will get to play it eventually.

Everwild looks promising, but like most first-party aside from Halo, didn’t seem to have any gameplay to show.

Alot of trailers said they were in-engine, but unless I missed it, was it clarified that these games were actually running on Series X hardware? Jim Ryan went out of his way to say the remainder of the show were titles all running on PS5, the same should have been said or clarified in the Xbox showcase to instill the same level of confidence in the product. The Series X is very close to release.

Obsidian continues to be a bright spot for me. They are creative and seem to have a productive workrate as of late. Looking forward to seeing more of Avowed.

I think for now I’m totally content sticking with my OG Xbox One and getting Gamepass from time to time to play through games like Halo, The Medium, Everwild, and Fable. At least I can say they will get a few months of Gamepass from me with some interesting titles.

This bring me bad memories of Halo 5 ..... 343 I though your engine was designed to run
60fps and use the power of money to release in multiple platforms.

Just look at that SFS and Velocity magic.

Microsoft needs more talented studios, that's why Sony will always have an upper hand in this department.

Yeah Sony has gobbled up a huge portion of the engineering talent out there.

And obviously people tend to dig their creative talent as well. I wish they'd do more genres though, and just in general less narrative driven stuff. Would love to see Sony talent put behind a shooter again for instance.
