I know one show got cancelled but was this the show Phil said he was excited for and were holding stuff back for?

The whole show was predictable for one and is that what 12 teraflops can do....why do games this gen look better than next gen. Someone compared a screen of joel from the last of us to the guy from halo and....woof.

Is anyone excited after that show? Xbox has let me down all this generation and I fear they will do the same for next gen

Till yesterday I was thinking with a simile on my face "damn the next gen will bring the best out of both sides"... now I m just sad being not that interested in Ps5 and hype destroyed by the MS show.
It's time to buy a Switch and wait Gow2 or ND lol

NeoGAF is starting to feel like it used to when I joined in 2005. Keep it up, folks...and I mean this sincerely.

MS really just let out a wet fart today, one so loud that is still circling the globe, and one so stenchy and ominous, it's making disposable income kings like me disregard the XSX entirely.

Did you see the state of the forum then? I even created a thread about it and got mercilessly hammered by Xbox fans even though my thread was not aimed at stirring up console wars.

I liked Halo but those screens suck yeah, they had it easy to beat Sony but they didn't lol, where is battletoads or the new banjo, etc, VERY underwhelming, they were suposed to be on they right path and getting their act together but games still look kinda cheap.

MOST POWERFUL CONSOLE sure but you gotta demonstrate it, where are those teraflops...

Yes, I was around these parts then. I can't say I noticed your thread. I find console fanboys in general to be ridiculous human beings.

The thread got spammed by Xbox fans. Fine to be a fan of something.

That said the conference to me was really disappointing. I expected a visual showcase especially for Halo since i played Halo 3 on my Xbox 360 back then.

Overall I feel deflated but also see that Xbox loves hyping things and not delivering. They've done this for years which is why i'm just laughing because i fell for the their PR hype, AGAIN.

You cannot have your tentpole franchise (Halo) be cross gen at the start of a new generation looking like that. I don't understand the decision behind this. I really don't.

Its all about giving players an incentive to upgrade their Xbox. I'm a Sony fan yes and also i like Xbox since i owned them before and Halo was the one title i was hyped for looking back at Halo 3 and how that was one of my most enjoyable games alongside Gears of War. So what about Xbox says to me 'buy me come holiday 2020'. So far, nothing. I can't say Forza 8 because it was all CGI.

With that said, i'm sure both Sony and MS still have more to show but overall both consoles have games that look underwhelming to me. I had a vision of next gen in my mind and neither of these games is it.

I may just end up building a gaming PC instead. Will see.

I said it earlier, but these things are always a waste of time. You're better off not watching, and just reading a list of the upcoming games afterwards. You'll have seen pretty much the same amount of legit gameplay, either way. The games are never ready, what they do show is mainly cutscenes, and they're generally running on a high end PC, anyway. And that goes for Sony and MS.

Colour me underwhelmed. I was very surprised at how Halo looked. Graphically it was pretty mediocre, and there were frame dips. Right now it looks way off Doom Eternal for example.

Very little actual gameplay even from Forza. State of Decay was just a CGI clip. Tell Me Why? No idea what it's about. Everwild same thing and it looks like an indie game. Hellblade was short and sweet and told us very little, and Ninja Theory don't have a great track record for delivering. Stalker 2? Yet more CGI clips with menacing music, nothing that tells me anything about the gameplay. Is Warhammer an FPS? Supposedly out next year so you'd think they would show much more than they did.

Avowed could be the most impressive game, but of course there were literally a few seconds of the in-game footage with the player standing still holding a magical sword. Fable literally showed nothing and is a big risk when you consider who is developing it.

I honestly think CrossFire was the most impressive thing they showed, maybe a Crysis style shooter.

Overall very disappointing, especially after Phil Spencer's near-constant hype. Xbox has got its work cut out, Sony is gonna work them over next month and there's just way more hype for PS5.

Let’s be honest: people said that this was going to be the smallest generational leap and yet we all wanted to believe everything was going to be 4K, 8k, 120 FPS, ray tracing, etc etc.

We now know the truth. We’ve seen the games, and now it’s time to adjust our expectations.

On that i agree.

BTW, i also missed the Live Sony PS5 event and caught the videos after in 4K. Not like the days of E3 where i would take an afternoon nap and stay up late to get the awesome reveals.

If sony didnt give me quality games you'd hear the same speech from me including nintendo as well. Its seems MS the last fee years haven't learned anything

Demon souls is my least favourite From game. Horizon does look gorgeous and probably the best so far but couldn’t finish the first game. Spider-Man looked more or less the same with an upgrade.

Grounded alone looks more fun then most of Sony’s showings to me and that’s just a smaller title. Sure infinite looks a bit rough but the gameplay alone looks more fun to me then anything Sony showed.
