Halo Infinite vs Halo Reach Visuals [Xbox Series X/Xbox One vs Xbox 360] [Am I stupid? I really wanna know what you think...]

Wow I didn't expect that. Lets hope the final product is better.

Hope this isn't a case of current gen and lockhart consoles holding it back for XSX.

Honestly right now Killzone Shadowfall, a PS4 launch title looks better.

You realize that open worlds are more demanding than canned levels loaded into memory...right?

Well, maybe they should have went with canned levels loaded into memory... like they did for the past twenty or so years.

Halo was a tight, story focused shooter with semi-open level design. Now it's far cry with aliens.

So I made this Halo Reach gameplay 2 days ago and wanted to check it after seeing Halo Inifinite and boy does it look alot better....

Yes, this is on PC still it just has better textures, resolution and frame rates compared to the original 360 version, either way this is how Bungie designed visually Halo Reach and it looks miles better than Infinite.
Halo Inifinite being an open world is not an excuse, Xbox one or series X are way more powerfull than the 360 version allowing them not only to have an open world but at the same time make it visually better, now the way I see it is that 343 is turning Halo into a more cartoonish looking game, a more family friendly game. If you look at Halo Combat Evolved, the visuals were actually realistic, they didn't look like bordelands or didn't seem to have a pastel or plastic look, same with Halo 2, 3 and reach.

I'm disappointed honestly, hope the story at least isn't bad... which from what I can see it does make me think it will be, the brute speech was horrible and cringy. 343 has a totally different way of telling a story, Bungie was more artistic with well placed music for the moments, slow paced but well written and emotional cutscenes, wonderfull vistas, cinematographicly miles better, 343 is more of a Micheal Bay blockbuster storyteller...
You know what, tell what you think about this 2 side by side!

I'm interested to see how AI acts in this infinite, if its better than Reach.

So they're making Halo texture pack for Minecraft?

343 made Halo 4, which was maybe the best looking game on 360, and I know that was a while ago but I don't think the problem is talent. I think the game looked like a blast to play and am looking forward to it, but I can see why people are criticizing the graphics... the "free raytracing patch" is just a head scratcher though.

That's no excuse with the SSD, Xbox Velocity Architecture and the really strong CPU and GPU of the Series X.

Btw, RDR2 runs at native 4K and 30fps on a One X and has more things, physics and systems going on at the same time than Halo Infinite.

Yes, RDR2 with its 5 seconds of input lag and 5 minute animation to pick up a flower.

it's 4k 60 open world and looks like halo. I am not really sure how much better halo could look without loosing the style

What is going on at XBS. Are they just spending all their money on hookers and blow? Is this what their 12 teraflops of creative freedom can do?

The problem is empty suits at MS chasing trends at the last minute. I remember one of those journalists saying MS wanted a Skyrim version of Halo for Infinite.

Thats pretty much what we got today.

I get it takes awhile to get the best out of a console but man this doesn't look great. Ive seen better looking games on PS4 Pro.

Oh damn you got a hands on???? Tell me all about every sub system and physics interaction! Is flying the banshee like flying in a helicopter RDR2? Red dead totally does incredibly demanding things like that right?
The game is coming out in under 4 months, how much more impressive is it going to look? That close up face at the end was embarrassing and they have the gall to say it's built from the ground up to take full advantage of Series X.

I wonder if 343 built their new Slipspace engine alongside Halo Infinite. From a product management perspective, how does that work? It just sounds like a scary mess.

Considering the resources they’re putting in for HI (# of employees, years of development, etc.) I’m dying to have someone from 343 comment on this.

I’m genuinely hurt and saddened by this reveal. 5 years I’ve been waiting, the last 2 trailers looked so much better than this. These graphics are complete dog shit and look Xbox one level graphics. What the fuck does the Xbox one version look like then!??? This is beyond unacceptable, who the fuck is running this shit show? I’m done with Xbox for good

I mean look at RDR2, the only way I see the visuals being this way is 343 targetting 60FPS on xbox one too, otherwise it could look better
I think people always underestimate the dramatic impact the choice of the engine can have on how a game plays, runs. and looks. take Decima, Snowdrop (TD1 and not 2), Rockstar's engine or any UE4 game, their games always look stunning while running smoothly regardless of the platform

I truly don’t understand how the graphics are this bad. Like I’m absolutely flabbergasted - I don’t really care tho since imma be playing co op

I don't believe this is all 343's fault to be honest. We've heard rumours that the dev kits were late so what are they going to do? If the goal posts keep moving then that's not really a fair argument that 343 don't know what they are doing. The previous games looked OK from memory. I do expect the games to look progressively better, but as a flagship title on the best piece of hardware, it looks terrible.

The in game color palet is very boring. Gray and devoid of color and contrast. And those gray boxes everywhere are so, so, so fuggly!!!

Some of it looked good, some of it looked shit. I don't know what else to say. I hope it ends up being a great game. It has potential I suppose. I liked some of the music and I like that dude who is stuck with the chief. Whiny little shit makes a good character for the non character of Johnny boy to play off.

You realise that the XsX has an SSD right? And the X1 doesn't? See, what's happening here is called compromise. They can't get it to run on both without having to turn all that shit down.

I mean did you even watch the reveal trailer? They're like 2 completely different games. You people in denial are hilarious. You'll lower your standards to any level to maintain face. It's pathetic.

I have a strong feeling that Halo Infinite was/is going through some insane development hell. You don't have a game 4-5 months out and it looking like a bunch of blockouts - This is insane. I am so upset and just utterly shocked. 343 is a shit show.

This is very sad, I was giving the benefit of the doubt but unfortunately I cannot forgive anymore. I don't even think Xbox One is the issue, even an Xbox One game would not look this bad. It literally looks like this demo was put up/rushed in the last week.
The Series X version is a rushed version. 343 did not have enough time to make Series X enhancements. The damn machines is a powerhouse, there is no way that this game should not look better... but it doesn't, because they just don't have enough time to make it so. Xbox said "HALO Infinite will Launch with Series X" Average looking or not, it's going to release on launch day!

Can you imagine the pressure that team is under... I would not want to be in their shoes right now.

Xbox Series x Ladies and gents..... with a pointy head.. the power of the series X.. MS really has no shame
If you watch the video, that strap that holds that sword or whatever clips through his chest. Honestly, a clear sign that the dev's did not have enough time. Xbox should delay the Series X version, but they won't. They've committed to this being a launch title.

Thought it was just me. I couldn't finish it. The input lag and the overblown animations killed it for me. Graphically however it is really impressive.

Yet games like Red Dead 2, Final Fantasy 15, Farcry 5, Death Stranding, Horizon Dawn, AC: Odyssey, Ghosts of Tsushima, the Witcher 3 and even the semi-open TLOU2 are some of the most beautiful games of the generation. Yes, open world is normally more demanding, but beautiful, huge worlds can still be accomplished with the right amount of talent and proper hardware utilization or tricks.

Which of those ran at 4K 60?

Does Halo Infinity honestly look truly better than those games I listed even though they are running on much weaker hardware?

To me, it didn’t really seem like Halo Infinity was really pushing the XBOX Series X hard so accomplishing 4K/60 wasn’t probably as difficult as we think. Halo: Infinity is not the worst looking game or anything, but I feel that if it couldn’t hit 4K/60 with it being on the “worlds most powerful console”, people would be concerned. I’m wondering if the ray tracing update will tamper with the resolution and frame rate though.
