Not ratchetDude, it's no use in beating a dead horse. All devs are going to hype of their games and talk like they are some advanced milestone from current gen. Sony is no different. Most of their games were in-game cinematics too. And what they did show of gameplay was current gen tech as well.
Are some people seriously considering the notion that this Halo game may be sporting less than stellar graphics because the developer's higher management decided to diversify their staff a bit more?!!??!? That's where they are going with this???
More non-proper blokes on a dev team means shittier graphics, is that right?
FFS.
Please explain the shitshow that is now Bioware, ArenaNet, 343, DICE and now Ubisoft? All these studios went through a public PR campaign about "diversity" and they all went through hell with their latest releases. Coincidence?
Ubisoft were so proud of their diverse teams and all these poor soft babies went online accusing them of harrassment and misogyny and now their studios are in deep shit. Even Insomniac hired some and it backfired in their faces too.
All those unqualified people are nothing but trouble in the workplace and they always bring up the diversity card.
If a 1.8tf machine with a hairdryer CPU can do this:
There is no excuse for a machine with a 12tf gpu and a MUCH MORE powerful cpu to don't do anything close to that at 4k@60.
Ditch native 4k if you have to, reconstruction techniques have improved a lot this gen, we don't need native 4k for anything.
Studio has 450 employees and you take issue with them hiring what 50 women? 60? thats a 9:1 male to female ratio.
You start to notice a pattern after a while.
no thats the dusk setting. there are are like 5-6 baked lighting settings the game switches between as you explore the island. similar to horizon. It looks miles better agreed.
But jesus christ is that whole game filled with glare from the sun like that? I'd rather stab my eyes out than play a game like that.

Sorry.
Women aren't the problem. It's the ideology that's sweeping this industry that I take issue with.Studio has 450 employees and you take issue with them hiring what 50 women? 60? thats a 9:1 male to female ratio.
Have you ever been outside? have you ever worked at an office? it doesnt matter how tech oriented the company is, it will have women workers and not because of diversity quotas. Marketing majors are filled with women. Art majors too and guess who creates all the art for the games? finance, HR, project leads are also typically have a lot more female employees than game designer roles.
Yeah, that's a real quote. See the dickhead in the background? He was posting lovely shit like this during Andromeda's development:
... at up to 4K resolution.
i dont think posting a picture of women who likely had nothing to do with halo looking so fucking awful is not the right way to go about making your point. unless of course you know the inner workings of 343i and know of women engineers and artists who mucked this all up.Women aren't the problem. It's the ideology that's sweeping this industry that I take issue with.
Fair enough.i dont think posting a picture of women who likely had nothing to do with halo looking so fucking awful is not the right way to go about making your point.
Yes sir, Dynamic 4K confirmed by the Studio Head.......So not even 4K all the time? Dynamic resolution?
And some people were buying that Ubisoft gaffe claiming 'it wasn't a surprise' that only Series X could run Far Cry 6 at 4k60, while PS5 is the 1800p machine due to the ~40% performance gap."Up to 4K", so dynamic resolution then. Dynamic 4K and all you get are those visuals? Lol.

Is it really clipping? In 4k it really looks differently? If I play it in 0.25x in 4k it does look like the ship is travelling in higher altitude than the tree and only "appears" to clip the tree moment it is behind it...
Who cares if it's 4k if the base textures are crap to begin with. I can't see myself seriously appreciating shitty and uninspired art design...no matter how many pixels it has. The fact of the matter is, it's been done better than this. Look at fuckin Halo Wars 2. The CGI cutscenes are prerendered obviously, but if you look at the design...the DESIGN is unique and striking. Just look at what real DESIGN prowess looks like and these devs should be able to understand why people were so hyped for the game and why they are disappointed.Halo Infinite didn't exactly impress most fans with its gameplay showcase released this week, starting with the graphics, which many felt it wasn't 'next-gen enough'.
We had the chance to participate in a press Q&A yesterday, though, and 343 Industries Studio Head Chris Lee didn't shy away from addressing the hot topic. Lee also discussed the improvements made to the audio engine for Halo Infinite, which leverages the capabilities of the Xbox Series X hardware to provide a more immersive experience for the player.
Chris Lee: I think for the response on the graphics, the thing I hope is that folks get a chance to check out our 4K streaming assets, I think that really lets our game show itself in full fidelity. We are definitely still very much in development, we have some polishing and tuning that the team is working on to really bring the full potential of our experience to our fans later this year in Halo Infinite. We definitely are excited about the ambition of the title, of this open expansive campaign and we'll make sure that it's polished and ready to go when fans get their hands on it this Holiday.
The gameplay demo is a great example of how we're running on Xbox Series X, you'll be able to run at a solid 60 frames per second at up to 4K resolution. We're bringing the highest fidelity experience that we've ever created. We're able to do more than 10 times the processing power per pixel that we were able to do in Halo 5, which just allows us to create this experience that's unlike anything that we've had in Halo before. In Halo Infinite we've really harnessed a lot of advanced rendering techniques, but also the immense power of the Xbox Series X.
Music is also incredibly important to Halo and to our fans, and I'm really excited that after Curtis Schweitzer, a composer that we talked about last year at E3, we got to announce our second composer that's joining Curtis, Gareth Coker. Both Gareth and Curtis have been doing an incredible job and throughout the demo today you've been able to experience some of the music that Gareth has worked on. We also upgraded our audio engine to create a new acoustic system and leverage a lot of extra processing power and streaming power with the Xbox Series X to be able to really surround the player in a much more realistic audio experience.

There you have it folks. Chris Lee said don't worry about the graphics, what you saw is basically how Series X runs, but upto 4K 60fps. So perhaps not native 4K all the time, dynamic rez seems to be confirmed. Don't worry about graphics, but we've got this improved sound though....People forget most of the games shown was on PC, so when Leadbetter said that he did pixel counts and all the games from MS conference runs at native 4K, people have to remember we don't exactly know the resolutions of the actual console box yet....Chris Lee has now clued us on the general rez of Series X in this title...
No.... Only at sunrise and sundown and if you play with the camera to catch the glare. It looks miles better agreed.
But jesus christ is that whole game filled with glare from the sun like that? I'd rather stab my eyes out than play a game like that.
Lighting/Shadows -> To be solved by Ray Tracing?
Pop-Ins -> lower resolution maybe better?
Explosion Effects -> highly opaque - needs different post processing effects?
flat indirect lightning and unimaginative materials -> material research, art style overhaul?
Is this actually a Dreams capture?
343 DEV Team, Daily ceremony when they go out for lunch
So, now you know what they are doing in the office from Dusk Till dawn.
As they optimize it, it should become dynamic 4K with a focus on better draw distance and things like that. i don’t care about native 4K, just a nice image that doesn’t have grass and other things popping in all the time
The game isn’t even fully open world. It’s semi open world. They should really just admit they want this game to be like Fortnite and just “good enough” visually so it can run on Samsung phones
I knew Halo Infinite was dynamic 4k. I wonder what the average resolution is.
I think that's why they didn't show it on Series X. All the talk of 4K 60fps and RT, if they showed Halo running at below 4K on the Series X, after all the chest pumping by Greenberg and Phil, there would be too much shit hitting the fan to clean up after..I knew Halo Infinite was dynamic 4k. I wonder what the average resolution is.
Even the open world aspect doesn't make sense as an excuse. Forza Horizon 4 is open world and it runs at 60fps on the One X (at 1080p but still). Why does Halo Infinite look so much worse than Forza?
Maybe they should've targeted 30fps for the base consoles and 60 for next gen.
Yeah true I guess. Still, I just don't understand why it looks so much worse than open world games like RDR2, Ghost of Tsushima, Days Gone, etc... if it's because of 60fps just make the old consoles 30...You cant compare racing games or 2D games which always much easier to render way above other genres.
When you hear 120 FPS its either a racer or 2D game 9/10.
Yep,
Rewatch the trailer and as Cheif ascends in the lift, you see some pop-in and then the player moves the view to the left to look at a wall, while looking upwards to catch the edge of the structure. When, they should have kept looking over the vista and landscape, obviously they didn't because you would have seen more loading and pop-in.
If games load fast as shit and more assets on the PS5 vs XSX by a considerable margin then the power advantage is going to be uncovered as a load of bollox (Consider the shit Ratchet was getting for loading for 1 second through a portal vs 5 seconds of a lift for a bland, empty fight...)
No stretching or pure guesswork.Erm, bollocks. Stretching and pure guesswork. That lift is to get you up high, not to mask loading. You don't use a lift to mask loading yet leave everything still in view.
Or are we not allowed lifts now?
No stretching or pure guesswork.
Go watch the trailer. When the pop in starts, the player moves to look at a wall. All lifts are used to mask loading, otherwise it would have/could have been a teleporter
There's a lot of GoT pics coming up but it wasn't very long ago that I was reading a thread in this very forum about how bad that games looks at times. Funny, it seems that's been forgotten. It looks miles better agreed.
But jesus christ is that whole game filled with glare from the sun like that? I'd rather stab my eyes out than play a game like that.
It doesn't load in completely, there's pop-in. The the fight takes place 180 degrees behind chief.Still calling bollocks! Traditionally closed lifts yes, that load levels in completely. Think portal, or Mass Effect.
This is one open lift where you can view all round. You can't mask loading (or certainly unloading).
Would have been a teleporter otherwise? What kind of bollocks statement is that? Oh, you think everything should be like R&C! Because its a PS5 thing, harnessing the power of SSD. But Xbox can't achieve that, because its inferior. And that's your point. Gotcha!
Creating a new game for XSX that can also run on a weak 2013 1.3 tf machine, while trying to develop a brand new engine from scratch at the same time on top of new tools etc on top of a global pandemic where everything has to be done at home has a lot to do with this. I'm confident 343I will iron out a lot of the issues over time with improvements via patches. The engine will get updated as well. They just need more time. 343 has a ton of highly talented engineers and artist. Give them more time.
My arguement is simple. Game scaling has been going on for years and will continue. The Witcher 3 is a prime example of how scaling can work.
I'm not worried about XSX. Its the most powerful next gen console and Hellblade 2, Gears 6, The Initiatives new game,Playgrounds new Fable, Obsidians new big rpg are all using UE. Halo Infinite will be a tech showcase on XSX,despite being on XB1. I am confident that seeing Hellblade 2, Halo Infinite, The Initiatives new game,Playgrounds new Fable will all be tech showcases and will quickly put this "cross gen will kill Xbox" narrative to rest.
Oh i see. If i criticise the xbox i'm a PS5 shill. Fuck me you people are boring and mentally retarded. To think that any form of criticism = microsoft bad, shows how mentally deficient you are as a person and about as exciting as John Major eating peas.
Obviously not that transparent, Stevie Wonder.Do one. You're transparent as fuck, and as equally annoying.
May 31 - life comes at ya fast lol:
It doesn't seem to be very hard to find some people who were all about "scalability" a couple months ago who are now finally seeing that cross-gen holds next-gen back. It's nice to see the change, but also fun to look back.
