PlayStation 5 [OT] Taking Over The World One SSD At A Time

Looking forward to the financials... they are on fire right now.

They have surpassed their high target from the most optimistic analysts (80 dollars per share)

They haven't updated the market value which would be (currently 80.88 x 1.26) 101.9 Billion.
Plus as I was saying in many previous threads they have well over 30 Billion in cash and cash equivalents.

Time to buy something big?

At this point they better buy something, anything before you appear at Japan headquaters with a double-barrel in hand.

HeisenbergFX4 HeisenbergFX4 right on money again.

Temper your expectations for PS5 stuff, we ain't getting that price until late August (if that lol)

LOL TOP, TOP , CLASS BANTA . Getting sick & tired of all these fake insiders, & youtubers demanding news thinking they are entitled to know everything. You get ,what you get. Covid has got people bugging out crazy.

It is what it is. As long as they announce games I can play in august Im cool. You know the primary function of PS. Drop some games with a release dates 1-2 weeks away. I'll buy & play those games. I wont be playing PS5 until December anyway.

If there is news is now or later. What changes?? You were always going to buy 1 or 2 PS5. You still have to wait till December to buy.

so am I 😁

I know it's an unpopular opinion with this crowd but I think being the absolute dominant market leader (at least compared to Xbox) is more than enough to keep Playstation healthy and they really don't need any more growth. As it stands they are stomping all over their competition game production wise. I really think Xbox is in danger of losing the support of Microsoft and I don't think that's a good thing for Playstation fans. It's competition from MS that brought us the 2020 version of Playstation in the first place.

How did you know my weapon of choice... beside my voice!? haha

It is the night
My body's weak
I'm on the run
No time to sleep
I've got to ride
Ride like the wind
To be free again

And I've got such a long way to go (such a long way to go)
To make it to the border of Japan
So I'll ride like the wind
Ride like the wind

I was born the son of a lawless man
Always spoke my mind with a gun in my hand
Lived nine lives
Gunned down ten
Gonna ride like the wind

From November 2020 to June 2021, I have SMMM, RE8Village, and hopefully R&C rift apart. End of 2021 we will have HFW.

That is enough for me. I don't play more than 6 games a year.

I am craving for an Onimusha after playing GoT. Capcom should make a reboot on the level of GOW (please avoid souls gameplay, I hate them, they make me nervous) . It's time for such a game.

I hated when they took time of E3 2013 to talk about the PS3. I loved every moment of the PS4. Now I am back at it, I hate that they are taking time to talk about the PS4 and not the PS5. I've come full circle.
Unlike last generations, the PS4 does not look outdated in comparison to the new generation. It is also still selling well, I would still support the console with indie and 3rd party content if I were a Sony executive (for at least two years). Be thankful Sony did not pull a GOW2 like they did when PS3 released and after 6 months they released GOW2 exclusively on PS2. I hated them so much for that fuck up. Thankfully, they released a remaster after 2 years.

Speculating out of my ass here, but I was always skeptical about Sony delivering big stuff about PS5 on a "State of Play" which is what has been rumored since June. We heard about them wanting production quality to be E3 level for that event, I guess they want same amount of finesse for all PS5 stuff, hence a State of Play doesn't necessarily seems like a good fit.

I think they have another event in the works equivalent/similar to June event where they'd show gameplay of 1-2 big First Party stuff, tease 1-2 new games, talk about services, BC, and close the show by dropping the price. This could be delayed until early-September I would say if MS aren't willing to give away the price first.
Very well said, I had the same thoughts as well, a State of Play didn't have enough "glamour" for any major PS5 reveals and announcements. I think this is the right choice as well, I mean a bunch of devs sitting in front of a 540P camera with shitty audio doesn't look good or seem professional. I really liked Jim Ryan's approach to the June event!

That being said, I also think Sony decided to delay whatever they had planned because of Microsoft's poor event and it's reception, it might be the case of Sony and Jim wanting to counter whatever Microsoft show off and this may work really well as it's very likely that Sony have the much bigger guns and ammo.

Ok we need to slow this train down

Oops I guess we called it too early.

C'mon, guys - we're definitely getting more this month. Sony just cock-teasing us as well as Microsoft.

That teasing though.

That makes alot of sense. They definitely want something similar to the first event which gained alot of traction in the press and social media. I doubt they will half ass the next PS5 event.

I just hope it's soon because I'm thirsty oh so thirsty....

As much as I'd like to pre-order my PS5 (and XSX) as soon as possible, I so also find this game of chicken fascinating. I'd imagine they'd both have to announce pricing by September for a mid-November release, surely?

Apple has been announcing products within a week or 2 of availability for years and their pre-order numbers make a console launch look like a lemonade stand.

There's really no NEED to have this stuff ready so far ahead of time as far as "getting sales" is concerned.

True, I guess I'm just thinking of historical console launches, but you're right other products have a tighter window. We have seen that most retailers have their channels/pages ready, all they need to be told is the final price, so with that in mind it would be fun to see them not announce the price until November.

didn't see the thread about ps4 controllers not working on the ps5 so ill just post it here.

NOT drive by shit posting, but I gotta say in my mind the only reason they won't allow dualshock controllers to work on the ps5 is because the Dualsense is going to be more expensive like 69-79 new (which I've been saying) and they dont want everyone to just go out and buy the cheaper dualshock controllers. Pretty damn shitty if this is the case.

Thats the only reason you can think of ?

People are already complaining the trackpad is useless and eats battery. If Sony doesn't push devs to use Haptic Feedback and Adaptive Triggers its gonna be useless tech with millions of dollar investment wasted. If you don't push people into newer experiences things will always remain stagnant or a competitor will give those experiences.

I'm sure people were complaining when Sony released a new controller with dual analog, changing from the norms of gamepads in 1997.

I have heard a lot of good things about Haptic Feedback, so I really want devs to utilize it for ps5 games. This move from Sony is a good push, but the success of haptic feedback still remains on how extensively its programmed, and if gamers really do feel the difference.

Its not shitty at all and it falls in line with what I have said for awhile now.

The XsX is a suped up Xbox One which is great.

The PS5 is a new generation which includes the controller which is pretty special from what I understand.

Why go through and add some cool new tech to the new dualsense and have someone use a dualshock and things not work right?

Just like they have to leave console hardware from this gen behind so new features and techs thrive, they must enforce this policy to the controller too. MS won't do it because they need something that works the same across all ecosystem, this is why their new controller barely has anything new. I felt grumpy having to buy two more controllers just to play Sackboy with my family, but I can definitely understand why Sony must do that.

Still, I'd think they pretty much HAVE to have some kind of reveal event this month. You figure they need at least 2 months for pre-orders and the advertising.... I dunno. Could be into September I guess. This whole thing is just so weird with all the delays. I mean for that kind of info, I don't buy that it's Covid-19 related. This is just information we're talking about. They could put together a video and drop the video showing all kinds of stuff and even talking about pricing. Because let's face it, there WILL BE NO BIG IN PERSON EVENT that they can do to reveal things like they normally would. That being known, it's actually simpler to just drop the info via videos online.

So we'll see. This silence is just stretching out and being way too bizarre for me. I don't pretend to understand ANY of what's going on with either MS or Sony at this point.

That's pity that I must throw away my beutiful orange DS4. Controllers have identical button mapping, only difference is in adaptive triggers and haptics. Why can't they just ignore these functions for older controllers...
It's too encourage developers to make use of the Dualsense unique features. I'm actually in full support of this. What I don't like is losing the optical port. My A50s weren't cheap.

I mean no disrespect, I really don't.
But if someone told me we're going to take the talent and development resources from Naughty Dog to work on any sort of Jack and Daxter, I would say fuck Jack and Daxter.

Agree with this. A lot of people will be a Naughty Dog because they want to work on games like UC and TLoU - not a game like J&D. Not that one is better or more high brow than the other - but they are two different things. I could see an offshoot team of people who want to diversify or it being given to another studio to take forward but I don't see it being Naughty Dog's significant focus.

Its not shitty at all and it falls in line with what I have said for awhile now.

I was a bit annoyed until I read this and I agree. In some ways it shows confidence in what DualSense adds and makes the differentiation clearer. It does help them sell more controllers though :D.

Maybe early ticket train buyers.

Im close to getting the platinum for Ghost. I Just bought Blasphemous this morning thanks to PS+ sales. Only for a the dev to post an hour later saying free DLC is coming out tomorrow. I will buy Mean Greens on the 5th. And I think the china hero project games will be arriving soon. Like boundary , FIST. I still have LA Noire to get through. Im good.
People should play those "backlogs"

The problem is that no developer is taking advantage of Sony's controllers features. Even 1st parties don't take full advantage of them. I am not sure if Sony investment on dual sense is worth it.
Remember, most developers are still stuck with the medival technology of mouse and keyboard.
