Meanwhile, all of us outside US just sitting here like

Yeah I got the email, followed through it, and the very last line of the faq :
Any orders that contain a non-US based address will be cancelled

Incoming rumors-

This is what people have been saying for a little bit now.

The PS5 (and possibly XSX) will be is such short supply at launch you will only be able to get them through their own store and a very limited select number of outlets.

Plus have heard if preorders are through the roof it may very well come down to a lottery type of system who gets theirs at launch.

Again all rumors people have been whispering and sorry if this has been discussed many times over the last few days as I have seen a few other people hint at this.

Sounds like PS2 all over again. Guess if I secure one on launch, better have armed security there(or just arm myself).

Ok, now I’m beginning to feel sorry for our green bro’s. Just can’t catch a break. Blame MS mismanagement, car salesman tactics, and general lack of gaming acumen for putting the fans out as fodder.

sorry but i don't :lollipop_tears_of_joy:

they can only blame themselves they could just jump ship, it's not like you need to be 100% loyal to a box this is not football where you support your team no matter what

Well, looks like Fall Guys on PS Plus was really a means to get people ready for pre-orders.

Interesting. Assuming Best Buy and Gamestop will still be OK as the alternatives.

Most likely. If I remember correctly, this will be handled similarly to the PS3 when we did it, if I remember it all right.

All GameStop stores will have a set number of units available to that store when pre-orders open(ex. 150).

Typically, those would be guaranteed Day 1, as PS4 did fine with. For PS3, they were tiered allocations in order of when pre-orders were placed.

In essence, on launch day, if we got 40, the first 40 people who ordered would get theirs. When the next shipment came in, maybe the next 20 would have their order fulfilled.

Of note--the time frame to pick-up and pay for your allocated unit will be STRICT(probably 24 hours). After that, you're bumped out for the next person.

So on until they are all completed, THEN something might go on the shelf, so to speak.

What's funny is that Sony doesn't have that policy yet PS5 owners are still getting free next gen upgrades. When developers are forced to follow a policy like that they will always find a way around which could end up hurting consumers in the end.

I think they shouldn't block pro-consumer decisions by developers but they shouldn't force it either. Allow consumers to vote with their wallets by supporting developers that choose to be consumer friendly.
Another thing MS didn’t think through properly

I’d rather Xbox just do better and create a desirable product and healthy competition.

Any forum member here could have brought forward a superior strategy for MS. Spencer needs to go. The lack of any clarity is just confounding, it could end up being worse than TV, TV, etc.

What's the thing people say around here? That Xbox did try to money hat exclusives or that their budget to do so wasn't as big as Sony's because I'm saying the latter. Sony had allocated a larger portion of their budget towards grabbing 3rd party exclusives. I'm not comparing what they've both spent in other areas.
I don't think it's an issue of money, rather it's due to Sony's PS4 install base. Any developer can count on getting sales on Sony's future generation. So Xbox fanboys go out there buy more consoles, and multiple copies of games in order to get exclusive deals in the future.

A) this sony site preorder is not random.. If I don't qualify after spending a shit ton of money there and on sony products in general.. My feelings are going to be pretty fucking hurt.

B) If they charge shipping fuck their preorder.

The usual suspects want you to believe when Activision says stuff about CoD Vietnam runs at higher framerates on next-gen, or that it runs at 120hz, that they don't mean it's 120fps because THERE'S NO WAY THESE GARBAGE CONSOLES CAN DO THAT... btw the game also doesn't look next-gen enough, what's the deal? Both arguments... same people.

Can't wait for all this 120fps talk to end once everyone drops PS4/Xbox One support. Yes, it's cool and looks baller, but we'll all be happy once games fully utilize next-gen hardware. Granted the PC enthusiasts will keep jerking themselves silly over frame rates (I include myself here). I'ma wait for Nvidia's 4000 series to roll around before I jump back into that bandwagon, but I will also thoroughly enjoy a PS5 throughout its lifetime.

Keep in mind people the lack of real 120hz TV penetration (stop laughing) out there period. It would be interesting to see if some developers choose the 120hz route on next-gen systems, but probably not.

And some others are saying "Sony secured the free next gen upgrade for PS5", they really live in their own reality.

The CPU's alone are like 8 times faster and more powerful than those PS4 ones...... so I think we could see a 100% solid 120fps even with raytracing and everything else.

At Gamescom tomorrow PS5 announces $599 consoles super limited quantities, sign up for digital lottery system NOW!

Later in the show Microsoft announces XSX $499 no stock shortages, available at all major retailers RIGHT NOW!

Man both companies really did shit the bed with their next gen launches in one way or another.
Keep dreaming dude for Xsex to be 499 when ps5 is 599, dream on!!

I knew the FUD would drop at some point. Apparently Sony is paying Activision to be anti-consumer.

Wow just ask Microsoft to drop that policy so this doesn't happen again. Publishers will use this loophole in the future at the expense of consumers.

Thanks for that info. Had a feeling that was the protocol. You used to work at Gamestop?

CPU is far from being the bottleneck for this type of game, and got nothing to do with raytracing.
We may see 120fps cod but it either won't be native 4K, or wont have any fancy effects, you can't have everything.

I worked there for 10 years. The company is absolutely as terrible as you read about at the corporate level over the years and has only gotten worse.

That being said, I worked with a very tight knit of group of folks and we ran our little GameStop differently from every single one around our area.

We always talked to people as truly valued, never pushed nonsense and the result was success, because they felt treated as people, not numbers.

Even with minor releases, my boss and I would open our store 2 or 3 hours early so customers could get their game before heading to work(if we didn't do midnight launch). I did it myself for Ghostbusters: The Video Game. The suits never said a word, because we had a 90% pre-order to pickup(paid in full) percentage.

Every single reservation was tagged in a drawer, even major releases like Call of Duty with 300 preorders. It was a small gesture, but it made your copy matter.

I still talk to several regulars who became friends and I'm still recognized in the old store by some that remember me if they are in there and I pop in.

I even met my wife at GameStop, so despite the corporate nonsense, it was the best of times and I miss what we had there.

But this is a next-gen thread and I'm waxing nostalgic. I just hope they do secure some allocation for preorders and are smart enough to execute it effectively, but who knows.

Why would you feel sorry for them. They call themselves gamers & refuse to buy PS & miss out on games because their box of choice does'nt provide the experience they really want. Stupidity at its finest.Cant feel sorry for them. When they deny themselves gaming pleasure. For a corporation. lmao. It's all a unnecessary headache to try & make sense of an xbox gamer.

It's not bad management. Xbox set out what it was suppose to do. Come into gaming & monetize it. Xbox Live & online play was/is Xbox biggest achievement. And their ultimate goal. Thats why there hasn't been anything else great for them.Xbox live has shrunk badly they loss 40+ million subs thats a lot of money. So they are just back to pushing services. Xbox never came into gaming to make great games. It was always about monetising gaming services. Their current status is where they are supposed to be. As their DNA was to create reoccurring service fees.

Xbox are where they are suppose to be.Back to pushing services not caring about games & experiences etc, etc.

Is it confirmed that the digital PS5 will be £100 cheaper than regular, as Sony would want to sell more of that SKU to then get more payback from digital purchases?

Or could the digital be the same price as the normal SKU, but instead offer some other difference like a larger hardrive?

The most popular theory is 100 euro difference. Partially subsidized due to the locked in nature of digital. But we have no solid information to back that up.

Sony said the two are the same minus the disk drive. I'm guessing the DE will be cheaper but I'm not sure by how much.

Sony has said very clearly they are the same specs. Both have 825 GB solid state drives. No info yet on price. Expect a lower price for digital, $50 or $100 less.

Oh, the irony...MS locked Yakuza: Like a Dragon upgrade out of PS5 and their 'pro-consumer' policy of non-paid upgrades is to blame for the COD XO standard version situation, but 'fuck Sony' just because.
