Quite a nice design actually, the tall box is quite distinctive. Like the light array shrouded in darkness on the side too.

Still the most iconic packaging design though:

I understand your point but for me personally so much teasing begins to work in the reverse for me.

Keeping it up and eventually trolling people doesn't work for me.

I am 100% a Sony fan but its getting easier and easier for me to not buy the PS5 especially with the timing of the 3080.

Maybe its just me but you can only tease me for so long before it backfires and the backfire is getting very close.
But what if the 4000 series from Nvidia (aka Hopper) delivers on multi-chip modules and smokes the 3000 series? I could see that happening, and those who bought 3090 having similar feelings as 2080ti owners right now. Really curious to find out what an MCM design would deliver. Only interested in doing a full upgrade in the future when Nvidia brings something truly next-gen to the table.

While it really does seem like something is up right now I'm thinking Sony are being a little cocky with the subtle trolling we're seeing on Twitter. I'm thinking when they do finally start talking/reveal price it will be on the good end. I just can't see this drawn out game of chicken this close to release is because they are going to be higher priced than expected or because they have "bad" news they want keep to themselves as long as possible.
I honestly am starting to hope Sony goes full crazy secret. Fuck it.

Never announce anything they don't need to. Never show the UI, or the console ports, etc.

Imagine how crazy the launch of the PS5 would be if they kept everything secret. Like when asked "what are the launch games?" they just say "you'll see on launch day" and shit.

The should just say a price and date, and then let the entire world together on launch day discover it all.

Launch day would be crazy as everyone would start unboxing and setting up their PS5s and uploading the first images/videos of the home screen ever seen online. Everyone would be all over it.

People would find out on launch day at midnight "holy shit Demon's Souls is a launch game" and Sony would be like "surprise bitch."

It'd be wild. Won't happen though, probably.

If nothing else, it doesn’t inspire much confidence when a manufacturer keeps delaying and delaying information about their product, way beyond what’s happened previously.

Suggests behind the scenes issues of one sort or another. None of them good.

I still think a delay could be on the cards.
You and many others here are assuming that the things and environment are the same as it was 7 years ago on PS4 launch. They are not - "world has changed".
Information transfer speed greatly increased overall, this means that hype window became much more compressed and we see "product on sale tomorrow" type of announcement much more often now.
Sony itself do it now, like wh1000xm4 was officially revealed just 2 weeks before it was on sale, it means that it is a working story and effective marketing aproach that in some way better than "old" approach, at least for some products.

People here a way to invested and impatient, I would personally propose just to relax, find something else to do/play and wait patiently for news.
No news does not reflect that something is wrong bad or Sony plays cat-mouse game. Probably it's just not yet a right time for info.

Let's not give them any more ideas!

I still can't get the PS4 Pro reveal/release date out of my head. Although a lot about it leaked out in Spring 2016 Sony still stuck to their plan which was to reveal games/date/price 64 days before release. If Sony have planned all along to do the same with PS5 it would mean the event will be on Thursday 24th September for a 27th November release.

They should want it out at least a week before black friday

Sure. So adjust to the week earlier. 17th Sept for 20th Nov.
I could see that. I still think game companies are dumb for not releasing in September or October to guarantee sellouts for 3-4 months instead of just 2. They know everyone will preorder and sell out the initial supply and they know they'll sell out during the holidays. Why do they always lump those two big sales bumps together? Makes it so they can't take full advantage of either the first holiday

I have no idea why they always seem to have short supplies but I'm guessing there are very good reasons why they do it like this. No way would they leave money on the table!

So today is the 2nd anniversary of Marvel's Spider-Man and on Wednesday is the 25th anniversary of the PS1... this is the perfect week to show something about the PS5 and Miles Morales! come on, Sony, do something.
Not sure if Sony cares or even knows about this as much as you do, all things considered.

In your own analogy I was already starving while waiting in line in front of the fancy restaurant and now I'm so pissed they still haven't even showed me the menu that the prospect of going home and eating yesterday's leftovers on my fridge sounds like the best option.
Ok be like that then. 😅
Sad that Soony® lost you because of the waiting. You're now officially prohibited to buy a PS5 by the council of SonyGAF.

Here in the UK, Xbox consoles are pretty much gone now. All of them. Even regular S (Some stores still have some limited old bundle stock, but not many).

This could be the fastest generation abandon in console history (The previous record being the original Xbox being killed off on the day of the 360 release)

Interestingly I just had a look at Argos and Game and both don't seem to be stocking PS4 Pro.....? Is this something new?

Ubisoft is working on two “AAAA” games

While we know about it and a press release went out years ago could it just be Massive's Avatar game?

Well the next gen upgrade is free. So why would anyone buy a next gen version of the game when they can buy the 60$ version and upgrade it.
If it's a physical media, at least with the next gen version the game is already inside the disc, while with the current gen one you still have to download the patch.

Here is the thing, and I was all but cancelled for saying this, but their June event simply wasnt good enough. Had it been a fantastic event, no one here would be begging for another event. Back in 2013, they had their ps5 reveal in feb and e3 and that was that. no more begging. we just patiently waited like normal adults. We knew what games looked like, what they played like, what games to expect at launch and which ones to avoid (looking at fucking knack). we knew the price and we knew about the most important thing on everyone's minds... used games. no always online.

We knew all of this by June. And yet here we are in the middle of september, we dont know whats their big launch title. we have seen zero gameplay of this spiderman game that is supposedly a launch title. we dont know what next gen gameplay is. GT7 had the most underwhelming gameplay demo ever. ratchet looked cool, but its just a pretty shooter. whats next gen supposed to do that this gen couldnt? is demon souls a straight remaster or are they changing gameplay mechanics? whats new in horizon and spiderman aside from graphics?

what is this boost mode going to be? is cyberpunk going to run at 2.23 ghz? what can we expect from other third party launch games like watch dogs and ac? how will they run with ray tracing?

i couldnt even care less about the price. thats for fanboys. i would pay $600 for this beast of a console. what i want to see if what im getting in return. because what they have shown so far has been so underwhelming no one gives a flying fuck about what was shown and only care about what wasnt shown. namely gameplay, and gow. i said this back in June, but imagine showing Spiderman, ratchet, gt7, horizon 2, and demon souls remaster and leaving people begging for more. that simply shouldnt have happened. that was supposed to be a slam dunk event but it landed with a thud.

I dont remember anyone begging to see the OS back then, but people want to see it now because we really want to see what the fuck this ssd can do. what they have shown so far simply isnt worth the fewer tflops.

And lastly, and this is where i will shit all over microsoft and nintendo, but this is why i genuinely wanted microsoft to succeed. this is why competition is so important. Microsoft fucked up their conference so bad i knew sony would use that as an opportunity to take a break. they literally have zero competition from MS for at least 2-3 years. most likely 3-4 years. why would they show gow now? why would they show anything when Nintendo has literally left the game making consoles and content with releasing remasters of last gen games which is hilarious because their hardware is now literally two gens behind. Animal crossing. thats it. one AAA game all year. All year. this is Microsoft levels of awfulness.

/rant fuck all three console makers. they have ruined this great fucking hobby. they had 7 years to prepare for this, they have two of the best consoles ever made and they have fuck all to show for it.

Is PS5 going to be scarcity?

From what’s been reported they’ll have a lot more units on shelves than the PS4 had at launch.... still will sell out in no time though.

Man, this poor ass marketing for the ps5 is killing me. I almost feel like not wanting to pre-order the console, but i still want it too much so that wouldn't be possible :messenger_tears_of_joy:
I don't get Sony, they KNOW they got the upperhand, why not take advantage of that? They literally could treat us with ui demonstrations, more game announcements, price and preorder and everyone would go nuts.

It can't be about sony being afraid of xbox, they pretty much won the nextgen start (atleast). Is this really just a marketing ploy? Or is there something behind the curtains making it difficult?

Is it poor marketing though, its annoying right now to us but Sony has everyone hanging on hooked like awaiting the next hit.

They have had some of the biggest numbers likes etc views ever, maybe that would have happened anyway but maybe corona has slowed things or both using as a potential excuse so they can hold on and wait for the other.

Its mad, unorthodox and maybe be by circumstances , design or a bit of both.

For the record here in Australia with the PS4 launch if you didn't pre order by the end of July 2013 you weren't getting one by April or May 2014 at JB HiFi or EB Games because of how much of a hot ticket item they were. This could be Sony preparing for a repeat of events.

they are actually retarded. how many people of your consumer base give a fuck about PSVR?????? Don't announce any event if it is not for the PS5 at this point!!! They already know how much we want PS5 news that they even have to say not to expect PS5 news when they announce events for other shit nobody gives a shit about. Bruhhh, this is not funny anymore
