I do expect to see some of the missing games we know are eventually coming and a couple of pretty big 3rd party announcements yet.

Xbox has been killing it up to this point but for me personally tease God of War more Horizon and some next gen patches for some of the current big games and I am all in on PS5.

If they don't show some of that very soon then I start getting concerned.
Killing it? With what??? Delays and lack of software?

I think everyone is getting concerned about the loading speeds for nothing.

1) We know that quick resume involves writing the current game to the SSD and reading a new game into RAM. This is pretty remarkable for 6 seconds.

2) We don't know how old games are running in the hypervisor. Are they restricted to using the legacy DirectX I/O APIs and are therefore bottlenecked by software? We haven't actually seen any loading demonstrated with an Optimized for Series X|S game yet, which uses the new DirectStorage API.

2GB of extra slow bandwidth RAM for Series S. That's purely for the CPU for sure
That CPU is closer but not as much as I want, even if the resolution is different the CPU usage should be the same
for the same number of object and similar complexity material.

If is true than Xbox says to the studios to focus in the XSX version then could means a couple of games can have
some hiccups in the framerate, probably only noticeable if you measure like DF does, but first this only should
happens in real game next gen and you still need a dev kit to be sure of this.

But that memory I little worry, If I say before both consoles (PS5 and XSX) will have in the future some problems with
the memory available now with 8 only for games (GPU and CPU).

Finally that 1440p is only for games which have a similar level of graphics as Gears 5, in a couple of years the
average will be above those graphics because even today Gears 5 is not top tier in graphics aside the Xbox consoles.

In general looks like a good console but with a Date of Expiry earlier than its big brother because first in two year will
be really hard to find in sell a good 1080p Tv and build a PC with similar specs will be just ridiculous cheap.

The reason all this got revealed this week is BECAUSE of bad management at Xbox lol. Xbox Series S got leaked overnight, and then Windows Central reported on the price and release date for both consoles hours after the leak. Management/marketing-wise, it’s been a mess at Xbox so far, not PlayStation.
People are just to thirst to realise that. It’s always better when you are the one deciding when to talk. Xbox didn’t decided to spill the beans (at least on the surface), shit got leaked and they went along.

Right now, Sony is in a better position simply because they are the ones in control of their own info.

To give Microsoft their due, they’ve made a very decent fist of unveiling the full console line up, and have priced them very well. To argue against that would be disingenuous.

However, the complete lack of games undermines all of it. They need to start featuring games soon.

Sony will be announcing plenty in the next few weeks, and I expect them to steal a huge amount of the mindshare going forward with exclusive game announcements.

That RAM is *very* slow on the XSS. The PS4 Pro had trouble with some games because its RAM was already bw starved and now this... smh. I can see why the Remedy dude sees trouble.
Wait are we sure those specs are real? I have no desire to read back through the pages at the moment. If so, what the hell was msft thinking with such slow ram? If this is true then PS5 exclusives will be untouchable or games on the XSS will run like crap.

Microsoft abandoned the current gen 2 years ago to focus on next gen. What have they shown??? Nothing looks next gen. They want to sell subscription services. They provide no valid reason other than fair pricing to utilize their hardware. The XSS is priced nicely, but relative to the current technology it is the weakest launch console ever produced. It will hold up for the next year with cross-gen titles, then what?

192bit would have been better, but at low resolutions there are cards on the market that get the job done with 128bit bus. I wouldn't expect the 1440p capability to hold up in most situations, but XSX and PS5 will probably fall away from 4k also.

and build a PC with similar specs will be just ridiculous cheap.

Think it will be a while before you can build a PC with a decent CPU + Budget GPU (even if it is the cheapest in the stack) + NVMe SSD (and all the other parts you need) for $299. This unit will cost reduce also, so it could be $250 or $200 down the road.

I think you misread, did you miss the dot, the point, he wrote .1GHZ which is 100Mhz...

It's still clearly made to look like bigger than it is, anybody with knowledge knows that 100mhz on cpu is almost nothing.

So he uses this weird way of .1GHz to make it looke like 1GHz or just bigger in casual eyes.

It should be "0.1GHz" anyway, never seen .1 format used in tech reviews etc.

So he just wants to run some agenda/fud

Probably little Timmy and auntie Jane aren't into that "starved RAM" narrative... hell, what is that even, right?

wow 100Mhz faster...WOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWW

...
And without SMT because you now the devs will never wants to use it.

I don't know is Verge is full of incompetent people when it comes to technology stuff.

@remedygames

I don't why the people forget than even if we love the consoles in general, this devices transform
in a couple of years from the target devices to the minimum requirement.

Inf
Not a real problem considering it's a much smaller GPU.
The thing is we really don't know, maybe this year will be easy but in 4 years when PC exists GPUs
many times more capable than PS5 and XSX.
1440p = Lower quality assets and resolution require less bandwidth and memory. Also 4TF XSS is equivalent to 6TF on the XOX in regards to graphics, not to mention the immensely better CPU.
So now we can we be sure (more of less) a TF of RDNA 2 is 1.5 of GCN.

As we know the RT eat bandwidth as breakfast.

I would love to see Microsoft show how something like Minecraft RTX runs on XSS at ~40% the VRAM bandwidth of XSX.

That would also address a lot of questions about how XSS could hold back games this gen.

It looks like a typical consumer product financing payment. Did you ever buy a phone with financing?

I see what you’re saying but I get a phone with my purchase that’s actually worth something and cell service that’s necessary. I’m not paying DOUBLE the cost of the system to get the weak service that is Game Pass.. Once people actually make this little purchase and realize there’s only old bargain bin games in Game Pass, they’re gonna be ticked they’re stuck paying $300 more for their system..

We can't get away from weird clocks huh guys. Did you notice when loading the one game the left counter speed up to make the time seem more dramatic between the two? Crazy
Look at the time in the video bar, the video comparison starts at 4 minutes...it shows the game loaded on Xbox One in 53 seconds but in the video bar 37 seconds have elapsed...it would be a waste of time to wait out the whole time in real-time thats why they sped it up. There is nothing weird about it, they even show the FF arrows next to the time to indicate sped up time.

This person obviously doesn't use gamepass.

That 540p ain't going to look good. But neither is the janky XSX version at 1080p, so we can put that to bed as a target for XSX for the entirety of the generation. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Are people still not aware that XSS is not a 4K machine, so you don't need as much RAM bandwidth?

Why? No ray tracing for Series S version , simple , problem fixed. It’s a budget machine .

With the XSS, what happens when there is a game that puts PS5 and XSX in 1440 30fps territory?

They are promising everything to be the same, but lower resolution right ?

Looks like all this talk about holding back games won't go away this generation.

Exists a limit about how much lower you can price your device without become a commodity.

In just a couple of months of months you can do something similar in PC as a low tier build because:

-RTX 3050, this probably will be around a 2070 which should be more than XSS
-The CPU of the consoles will be probably the new ryzen 5
-You can find a cheap nvme of 500 GB
-8 GB of RAM should be enough
-The cheapest motherboard and PSU you can find it

And this is a low tier PC with a decent CPU and small but still decent NVME.

In 2 years if you want to build a low tier PC will above this.

Here’s just some of the fun financing you gotta do to get their $24.99* a month deal..

mKhbPpa.jpg

Might have been answered already, but I had two questions on that:

What if you are buying All Access for the first time? Obviously the Upgrade Option doesn't apply to you, so are you having to keep funds available in the Citizen's account to remain active on payments once approved?

Later on you suddenly have enough cash to pay off the Console early, are you still locked into the deal for the remainder of the 24 months because of Gamepass? I guess that it's some sort of commitment with Gamepass that for something like the Series X you're paying the $840 at the end of it.
