Sony seem to have their own schedule and they just ignore everything else going on. They haven't engaged Xbox even once but Xbox has engaged Sony multiple times from the teardown of the XsX and the mentions of constant clocks right before the Cerny presentation to the backhanded Twitter comments.

They will stick to their roadmap regardless of what's going on because they are in the lead.

It's still clearly made to look like bigger than it is, anybody with knowledge knows that 100mhz on cpu is almost nothing.

So he uses this weird way of .1GHz to make it looke like 1GHz or just bigger in casual eyes.

It should be "0.1GHz" anyway, never seen .1 format used in tech reviews etc.

So he just wants to run some agenda/fud
Yes, i immediately thought the same thing knowing this person's lack of integrity.

Sony being silent about the PS5 and not reacting to Xbox news this week because of the PS VR spotlight is quite moronic.

But if Sony doesn't take the stage next week their marketing team is led by actual imbeciles.
XBox had one of their best ever marketing weeks and they still trended behind Playstation...

Right now they have no reason to not wait until they're completely ready

I am sick of waiting too. But you never know. Maybe Sony really wanted to see what Series S costs before finalizing their prices. And maybe that ends up benefiting everyone. Can't hurt to hope.

I hope whenever the next info dump is that it's significant.
Enough with the boring and annoying drip-feed. Give it to us.
Now the cards are on the table, date, price, UI, gameplay, lineup. They need to show it soon.

If I were Sony's marketing lead, I'd have a State of Play next Thursday. Announce it on Tuesday.

For 20 minutes, just show uncut Bugsnax PS5 gameplay.

End the show.

The thing that doesn't look good at all is Xbox One X having 12 GB of RAM at 326 GB/s for 'current' gen and XSS having having 8 GB at 224 GB/s (+2 GB at 56 GB/s) for 'next' gen.

The 2GB @ 56gb/s might not be much of an issue if just for the OS, still faster than dual channel DDR4 3200. You wouldn't think the OS would hit the memory all that much during gameplay, so the interleave shouldn't nock the real-world bandwidth per second down that much (unlike XSX where the slower pool probably gets hit on almost every frame).

Do you mind if I quote this after the next Sony showcase or when they drop the first God of War : Ragnarök footage.

If Sony do nothing next week it will make no difference to Novembers launch.

When was the last time Sony reacted to news from MS? Serious question I do not remember.

At this point there's zero benefit from waiting. The PS5 is already finished and being manufactured, price and release date of competition is on the table. The ONLY reason I can see now for holding back past next week is if hey have bad news to explain and they want to put distance between them and Xbox reveals. And even if they have bad news to tell, which is not going to change from now to november, the sooner you tell them the sooner you can start trying to spin them in your favor.

Which is funny because they're not.

I'm not sure how MS is set up now, but with the merging of SCE(Japan/EU/Americas) into SIE a few years ago, all of Playstation's marketing efforts were consolidated as well rather than different strategies or campaigns for different markets. The global marketing teams are now led by Mary Yee who oversaw consumer and marketing strategy for the PS4 launch.

I know this is a vast departure from how generations have been announced and rolled out in the past (aside from PS4 Pro), but announcing a release date and price 6 months in advance vs 2 months in advance doesn't make much of a difference. Especially with the cat and mouse game around price that they've been playing.

Most other tech companies announce and launch within weeks, like Nvidia last week or Apple with their events. People will quickly forget how dry the last few months have been whenever Sony comes out with a blowout of first and third party games, UI, announcements, competitive pricing, and release date.

Now if the content sucks then we can say this whole launch marketing strategy flopped. I don't think that will happen based on the content and reactions around June's blowout.

Read my tears about xbox here --->
This may be news to you, third party devs have no choice but to use the PS5 I/O solution , there is no way to bypass it as the PS5 is built around it. Infact its automatic, there's nothing special or complicated the devs need to do to initialize it, only way the PS5 I/O will run slow is if they intentionally gimp it

BTW wicked picture you got for your avatar, who is it suppose to be or who's it by?
Of course they are gonna use it. But it can still be underutilized. Will third party devs design their games around the PS5 I/O?

My avatar is from the artist Byung Jun Ko. He got some great artwork.

I hear your logic, and replace it with my feels and wishes for 299 and 399. Feels good man.

we would all like one right now. Since they dont react to MS ever I guess they will go when ready.
I know. I've been totally avoiding commenting on this thread due to the waiting madness that's enveloping people because of the lack of information.
It's kept me somewhat sane from the endless recycling of the same circle jerk arguments.
We're all currently "Dormammu, I've come to bargain!"

Part of why Xbox can get away woth that is because the Xbox OS, UI/home screen/menus are only 1080p.

Digital Foundry confirmed even the Series X will not be able to render the home screen UI or menus at 4K. 1080p only for OS.

The PS4 Pro does 4K for all of its UI and menus. Hence why it needs some of the memory to render.
Safe to assume PS5 will be the same.

Correction. It's not the whole RAM at the same bandwidth speed. 8 GB is 224 GB/s, 2 GB is LOOOOL 56 GB/s

Doncabesa Doncabesa

Why you label my post as Triggered? Because i've tried to correct the wrong statement about RAM by member ( as he asked " did i miss something ). Or i should act like the whole Discord where you are and spread only positive ( false in that case ) info about XSS how it has 224 GB/s across the whole 10 GB of RAM and mislead people?

Ask yourself a question:

Why are Sony so silent?

The answer is either that they are in serious trouble with Ps5 pricing, and have no new games to show.

Or... they have megatons, and they know it.

Now, considering their market dominance over the past few years, and all the rumours swirling about money hats... which do you think is more likely?

Looks like Series S also gets 120fps support:

In addition, the game will support 120Hz on next-generation console (Xbox Series X, S, and PS5)

Sorry if this has been posted we are traveling and I cant keep up with all the news.

Windows can do 4K with single channel memory on a potato iGPU, the interface shouldn't have a problem at 4k. DF isn't always right about everything, for example, they thought the XSS would be 192bit like the rest of us.

They trended behing Playstation because after knowing the price and release date of both Microsoft consoles everybody turned their head towards Playstation asking them to say something.

He’s saving these posts and will reply to each one when he’s back. Lord help us
He wont.

I was a former full time 3D artist myself and worked on a few games (AA and low profile stuff). I have friends and colleagues in the industry, i have never met anybody working within the industry as delusional or fanatical as him (well maybe a very few QA people). Also at the same time I'm not going to ask myself to be vetted just for a fancy tag so i can stroke my ego online because i dont care. I've already had discussions with him regarding the 3D pipeline, well he never responded to certain stuff so i knew he was full of shit. Maybe he is who he is but i would sure hate to work with someone like that.:messenger_weary::messenger_ok:

They used the Xbox man, hands on. Same as Xbox One. OS is 1080.

Of course they could get it running in 4K but haven't yet/won't for now.

Be my guest. But a God of War (or any other 2022 game) trailer in october, no matter how good it is, won't change my opinion at all.

That's why I said I've avoided commenting. When I can keep up with the pace of this thread I can see the madness take down so many posters. And it's hilarious following the bread crumbs that lead to the bans.
