Gamepass generates no buzz....today, only MS talked, but Sony trends even more cause people want to know about PS5.
Echo chambers being echo chambers. Is twitter going to feed a PS fan an Xbox article or a pro Sony article with a clickbait title? It works both ways but there are more PS fans than Xbox fans.

But is it not supposed to be 10 % less pixels I was told by the Terrafloppies ?

Good lord. I really hope this won't turn into the next stupid thing this gen.

mY COnsole IS BeTTer beCause it'S tRue 4k!

Something tells me this upcoming generation, more than any other, will be hard as hell to tell the difference in third-party titles. Even side-by-side. Digital Foundry with their pixel-peeping bullshit to the rescue!

I agree man. Game developers don't know what they're talking about.
Compared to multiple other developers. Unless the guy from the tweet only talked to two developers, there's a story there, but I imagine it's more than that

This game shaping up to be one of those last current gen titles that dig deep into the console, but this time not from a AAA studio. Beautiful PS4 game. I really want to know what enhancements the PS5 version brings.

Some of the changes seem fairly substantial. We didn’t see a side-by-side comparison on the game running on PS5 and PS4, but Mike says the forest is more lush and dense in the PS5 version. He says that combat is one of the game’s foundational elements, and ensuring that it performed well on the older hardware took priority over the amount of foliage players would see in the environments.

Another thing that will probably be apparent is the number of Rot that players will see in the world. There are 100 of the tiny creatures to discover in the world, and PlayStation 5 players can potentially see all of them scampering around onscreen simultaneously. On PlayStation 4, you can still find all of the Rot, but they won’t all be represented visually. Mike says that even with the game’s aggressive level-of-detail scaling on the creatures, the performance suffered too much on PS4 with the whole crew onscreen, so they had to make concessions. Their functionality is the same on both versions, but the visual differences are there.

Playstation has lost many people on the marketing department and it shows. When your marketing strategy is "people will quickly forget how bad we did it to this point when we finally show something impressive" instead of creating a slow but steady build up that reaches its highest point just before for the launch of your product, you know you're failing.

And no, a slow but steady build up shouldn't include aknowledging the existence of your next gen console with a Wired article, waiting 5 months to dive into the specs with a GDC talk with fake audience on screen, then waiting 3 months to reveal the console form factor and some games and then waiting another 3 months (and counting) to talk about the rest of relevant info like the price, release date, launch lineup, UI, etc.

If Sony shared the price and release date back in June what would have changed for you?

Most of their leadership, and especially on the marketing side, have been around since the PS3 days or earlier, and just because you’re not a fan of their strategy so far doesn’t mean it’s inherently bad.

If Sony announces a blowout next week and has a steady stream of announcements and info through launch, that’s much more valuable for mindshare than blowing their load in March and regurgitating the same info for months.

It‘s like coronavirus is something that just hasn’t happened for some people.

Marketing strategies are delicate things at the best of times, and trying to frame one correctly during a pandemic has been nearly bloody impossible.

Both Sony and Microsoft have suffered. As have many other organisations and businesses.

Things would have been very different had covid not happened. As it stands, both companies have had to remain quite fluid with their strategies. It’s far better to say nothing than say something that you have to retract later. Hence the delay for both of them.

But now Microsoft have come out of the gate, Sony will be dropping more info soon.

I can see Raytracing Reflections and probably Global Illuminattion too, and I don't know about about Shadow RT.
But isn't the game supposed to have Shadows RT, my great doubt is, I can clearly see RT Reflections and almost Global Illuminattion too. And to think the game would have 3 types of RT is crazy I think, because is so heavy.
What do you guys think ?

I think I’m going to die a lot.

I like to think that he is triggered by my posts. I wear it as a badge of honor.
Hey you are this Snake from Ree right, you gotta be with being the most antagonizing person ever on this forum and having almost same attitude and Snake part of your names.

Looks like Clementine from Westworld, most definitely similar noses so the character model resembles that gal.

At their own pace we are not getting an event until a day before the console release. Microsoft have a pre-order date and XSS is going to sell like hot cakes at that price and that will eat from your market share. Sony fucked up. Plain and simple.
Neither is Sony.
Can you please calm the fuck down a notch? We are all blueballed but you are most definitely going spitefully crazy over nothing smh...

These are beautiful, the game is a looker. The posts need thread marks or gold or something.

Exactly, but I think the competitive pricing/launch against MS has had more to do with impacting Sony's plans than COVID. The PS teams were equipped to deal with remote collaboration and I doubt their marketing plans have changed drastically given the Wired announcements last year and plans to skip E3.

It's also much more likely third-parties publishers and their partner agreements were impacted and affected their launch timelines. I know companies like Ubisoft had major furloughs and layoffs, and that would impact things like demos, trailers, etc. when the priority is ensuring games launch on schedule.

Again, I could be totally wrong and Sony could fumble the bag with their blowout, but I don't see that happening. This whole debate will look silly in a few weeks.

Im curious how you would have rolled out the announcement for the PS5.

I'm glad you asked because I would do exactly the opposite Sony did.

1) Aknowledging the existence of the PS5 with a surprise video published all around social media. Ideally around december 2019 playing with the 25th Playstation anniversary, recaping the history of the brand and ending with the PS5 logo and a text saying "Coming 2020". People go crazy.

2) Now it's time for interviews on gaming and tech outlets highlighting the SSD. For the next two months Mark Cerny, Jim Ryan and Hermen Hulst talk about the future of Playstation in separate interviews, podcasts and such.

3) In march you do the Mark Cerny GDC talk. Due to pandemic it's a recorded video but no fake conference bullshit. Straight video presentation with Mark Cerny talking to camera and lots of graphics and visual aid.

4) In april you reveal the DualSense, but planned, not because it's about to leak. Highlight de haptics and new functionalities.

5) Leave May PS5 free to concentrate on one of your last PS4 exclusives. TLOU2 is one month away.

6) In June you make the Future of gaming show when you reveal the PS5 form factor and some games. It was actually quite good. I wouldn't have changed too much except don't show the Digital Edition yet.

7) In July you make the final marketing push for Ghost of Tsushima.

8) In August you reveal the second sku, the PS5 Digital Edition, and hint it will be cheaper than the standard version. And while you're at it show the UI of the system.

9) In september you broadcast the final big event, showing gameplay of Miles Morales, Forbidden West and Demon's Souls and trailers for first party unannounced games and third party. News about PS+ and Ps Now if there are any. End the show revealing price and release date. Preorders open. Call it a day.

10) In October you publish a complete teardown of the PS5 while the hype ramps up for launch. Maybe explain in detail how can you get one, how the memory expansions and backwards compatibility are going to work.

11) November you unleash the PS5 into the world.

So how about that September 9th PS5 reveal? turns out PS once again fails marketing their PS5 and successfully tricked us into believe its gonna happen but its not. So will it happen tomorrow (Sept. 10th) or next week?
