My initial reaction to seeing the XSX/XSS price reveal on Playstation 1's North American 25th anniversary.

Why you label my post as Triggered? Because i've tried to correct the wrong statement about RAM by member ( as he asked " did i miss something ). Or i should act like the whole Discord where you are and spread only positive ( false in that case ) info about XSS how it has 224 GB/s across the whole 10 GB of RAM and mislead people?

Don't worry about him man. He does that. Just ignore.
Lmfao don't worry about him, we let Doncabesa Doncabesa to do Doncabesa things, personally I am grateful, I think 99% of my reaction score is from his " :messenger_tears_of_joy: " reactions.

Sony being silent about the PS5 and not reacting to Xbox news this week because of the PS VR spotlight is quite moronic.

But if Sony doesn't take the stage next week their marketing team is led by actual imbeciles.

Sony IMO should definitely not take the bait by announcing their price this week. That move would garner a lot of attention even from press outside of gaming. And in effect, highlights Xbox as well. Free marketing just by being the competition. Sony should let the xbox news die down for a while.

Part of why Xbox can get away woth that is because the Xbox OS, UI/home screen/menus are only 1080p.

Digital Foundry confirmed even the Series X will not be able to render the home screen UI or menus at 4K. 1080p only for OS.

The PS4 Pro does 4K for all of its UI and menus. Hence why it needs some of the memory to render.
Safe to assume PS5 will be the same.
what the fuck
I have both a base and a pro ps4 and the pro ui looks a million times better on a 4k screen jfl.
If Series X actually rolls with a 1080p dashboard that's lmao tier sorry not sorry

They used the Xbox man, hands on.

If it's limited to 1080p, that wouldn't be a bandwidth or gpu issue (when speaking about the UI) that would purely be a RAM usage reduction. Hopefully they can streamline things to get to 4k with only 2GB or so of usage, the new store app is a lot more efficient. 🤷‍♂️ A flat UI just shouldn't require that much additional ram at 4k.

I like to think that he is triggered by my posts. I wear it as a badge of honor.

They trended behing Playstation because after knowing the price and release date of both Microsoft consoles everybody turned their head towards Playstation asking them to say something.

Thanks to PS Studios efforts current gen and that’s why hype is high for PS5. Not because the amateur way Sony handled this lead up to launch. You believe in generations and we are less than 2 months away from November and you are showing fucking VR.

They clever thing to do would be to announce games. Would underline the ‘Xbox has no games’ meme.

Yep, Sony has deliberately never directly adressed anything MS has done, while MS is desperately trying to piggyback Sony.
Sony simply does not want to share the spotlight with them. Its a smart move.

I am sick of waiting too. But you never know. Maybe Sony really wanted to see what Series S costs before finalizing their prices. And maybe that ends up benefiting everyone. Can't hurt to hope.

If Sony will do a presentation for the price announcement together with a slew of game demos and trailers, that will send a message that Sony is really all about the games. Contrast that with how MS did their price announcement. Such move will cement PS5 status as the console with games.

But that's preciesly it, the number of people asking for Sony to reveal their price dwarfed the number of people talking about Xbox, the brand is just that much bigger right now. They don't need to do anything until they are ready.

Be my guest. But a God of War (or any other 2022 game) trailer in october, no matter how good it is, won't change my opinion at all.
How about first gameplay of Spider-Man or Demon's Soul's. How about Final Fantasy 16 exclusive or Silent Hill.

The point I was making is it does not matter if Sony talk PS5 next week or react to MS. They can move ahead with PS5 at their own pace.

This. Preorders for Xbox Seriessex are open but it feels like the reason to pull the trigger on it isn't there.
Whenever the price reveal is, it needs to be supported by some tasty gameplay.

This man gets it.

Launching a console without new games is like launching a sandwich without a filling.

I said the exact same thing a few pages ago. How and when did MS even make a case for their box?
Both of their gaming events fell flat and they have not shown anything impressive running on their machine.

Which is funny because they're not.

I'm not sure how MS is set up now, but with the consolidation of SCE(Japan/EU/Americas) into SIE a few years ago, all of Playstation's marketing efforts were consolidated as well rather than different strategies or campaigns for different markets. The global marketing teams are now led by Mary Yee who oversaw consumer and marketing strategy for the PS4 launch.

I know this is a vast departure from how generations have been announced and rolled out in the past (aside from PS4 Pro), but announcing a release date and price 6 months in advance vs 2 months in advance doesn't make much of a difference. Especially with the cat and mouse game around price that they've been playing.

Most other tech companies announce and launch within weeks, like Nvidia last week or Apple with their events. People will quickly forget how dry the last few months have been whenever Sony comes out with a blowout of first and third party games, UI, announcements, competitive pricing, and release date.

Now if the content sucks then we can say this whole launch marketing strategy flopped. I don't think that will happen based on the content and reactions around June's blowout.

Playstation has lost many people on the marketing department and it shows. When your marketing strategy is "people will quickly forget how bad we did it to this point when we finally show something impressive" instead of creating a slow but steady build up that reaches its highest point just before for the launch of your product, you know you're failing.

And no, a slow but steady build up shouldn't include aknowledging the existence of your next gen console with a Wired article, waiting 5 months to dive into the specs with a GDC talk with fake audience on screen, then waiting 3 months to reveal the console form factor and some games and then waiting another 3 months (and counting) to talk about the rest of relevant info like the price, release date, launch lineup, UI, etc.

At their own pace we are not getting an event until a day before the console release. Microsoft have a pre-order date and XSS is going to sell like hot cakes at that price and that will eat from your market share. Sony fucked up. Plain and simple.

They could hold an event on the exact date when preorders for xbox are about to open and open their own preorders if they wanted to.
They have a lot of room to navigate.

certainly getting frustrating now as I want to preorder a PS5. The fact that Xbox preorders now have a date will force Sony to react as they probably don’t want people hungry for new tech to just preorder an X or an S and then hang back on getting a PS5. I doubt most Sony folks will do that including myself but that price is very good for the power you’re getting.

I hope we hear something from Sony next week but not holding my breath.

Well if this is real then there's no way they'll keep it like this. It's gonna change sooner or later.

LMAO WTF MS.

I don't think I am the only one who feels a little disappointed for the quantity of memory and its bandwith the top 2 consoles XSX and PS5.

The bandwidth in XSS looks worst with the consume of a better audio chip and RT, the problem could be more than in its big brother.

Of course this first wave of games will be okay because are designed thinking in the current consoles but after that who knows.

Ok, so far this launch is a bit of a wet fart.

If Sony's not careful, they'll leak too and it will be such a letdown.

Whatever they show next has to be a meaningful celebration of what and who Sony is. Why such a lack of engagement?

Teardown, UI, Ragnarok and Demon Souls extended gameplay and they'll somewhat redeem themselves.

Im curious how you would have rolled out the announcement for the PS5.

That’s why they have EA Play on Gamepass and it’ll be so easy to push a XSS Gamepass bundle.
