TLOU 2 fell off the PS Store Top 20 charts for September

Aegis Rim is sadly absolutely not made to appeal to the main stream. The fact that we don't see any mecha battle animations kills any mass appeal it could have had. To be honest it's the reason I'm waiting for that to drop in price. Am not going to pay 60€ for that. If it were on Switch, maybe, since games like that work well on a handheld, but not on the big screen.
I know, but I personally digging combat section and it looks pretty fast paced
I know that Danjin can make it interesting, please do.
I personally like how combat looks but that doesn't mean it gonna be true for everyone else.

Watch the combat section and see if you like it or not.

What do you expect from a sequel? Don't be dense.

So funny to see people claim they want mature games and then cry when they come out because they can't handle them. If you hate TLOU2, you hate the best the medium can offer. Get a new hobby.

"The best the medium can offer?" A poor imitation of what Hollywood produces, and generic stealth gameplay we've seen since Splinter Cell and Metal Gear Solid from 20+ years back?

Gamings single greatest strength as a medium is that hunk of plastic with buttons on it. AKA player choice. TLoU2 isn't particularly interested in what choices it's players make. It's archaic design with top tier production values.

Truth is always in the grey areas.

1) TLOU2 wasn't trash but it wasn't a masterpiece or a generational game neither.

2) TLOU2 didn't flop in sales but it's very obvious that after a big launch on the back of its prequel it dropped hard because of word of mouth and sales slowed down to a crawl.

3) As time passes TLOU2 will be remembered more for the controversy that sorrounded it than its quality because both its fan and its haters blown it extremely out of proportion.

Being "mature" doesn't make it immune to criticism, and there's valid criticism for the game. You dont have to be "dense" to realise that brother

The best the medium has to offer, its subjective, so I won't say you're wrong, but I also don't agree.
I called him dense because he said "TLOU2 only sold that much thanks to its predecessor and not by its own merits", not because he criticised the game, friend.

You haven't played the game so your opinion can be easily discarded. Which it has been.

I think it’s understandable regardless of the backlash. While the gameplay is certainly better and its strongest point, the story is definitely not as relatable as the first game.

Now, I loved the second game, even more than the first one, but I can see why people wouldn’t like it as much. I’m glad a AAA dev can take risks and try different things, even if it doesn’t hit home for everyone.

Shut the fuck up. 93 metacritic and will win tons of awards. Druckmann is probably buying expensive hair shampoo and a new house as we speak, eat shit

Agreed. For people constantly calling others snowflakes, they certainly look very insecure.

There, there, show me on the doll where Druckmann touched you.

I'm waiting to buy The last of us 2 and Ghost of Tsushima. I'm waiting to play the inevitable remasters on the PS5 with all content for 12.99.
12.99 is the current price for Horizon Zero Dawn and it's included expansion. I actually paid the 60 for the game and 20 for the expansion. Yikes.

Oh no, a game with the biggest opening weekend of any ps exclusive has dropped in sales 3 months after release. This must be the end for naughty dog.
People still talking about the game 3 months later will only encourage Druckmann to make more controversial games. You're giving him exactly what he wants.

you haven't though, have you?

I have. I beat it like a week after it came out. I actually didn't hate it but in terms of design and leveraging the mediums strengths, I was waaaaaay more impressed with games like Stardew Valley and Subnautica. The sooner we get TLoU2 production values attached to those types of games the better imo.

It is objectively the best the medium has to offer in almost every aspect. (Sound design, graphics, animation, acting) and how all of those things impact good storytelling. Yes the subjective things you probably fall on one end of the spectrum (loving or hating) but so much of the game is everywhere we want our games headed in terms of creating immersive gameplay and storytelling.

So great game but shit sales? welcome to the club i guess then. And people like to say Sony and ND only makes games that are a safe bet, tsk.
My game of the generation it's still TLG tho and that didn't have stellar sales either, despite a very long dev cycle.

It's the single best selling PS exclusive, ever. It was that before the game released. It never had bad sales.

I just hated being teased a semi open world, with a map etc, then to never go back to that formular. Felt wasted to me.

Maybe the upcoming mp can't bring me back, the combat, was fun, just wish it wasn't so enclosed, mp was great fun in TLoU

leads to fear. Fear leads to xbox.

Spoiler:

1. Call of Duty - 80 Metacritic
2. Animal Crossing New Horizons - 90 Metacritic
3. The Last of Us Part 2 - 93 Metacritic

You guys can keep making threads. But it is a commercial and critical success. And completely deserving of both. Fantastic gameplay, presentation, graphics, etc.
People will always try to bring it down, can't wait for the game awards this year

I think a lot of people, like myself, probably finished this game very quickly. Returned or traded it back and moved on. I suspect the used game sales for this title are probably pretty good. I finished it in 6 days, pretty slow really. But it was fast enough that EB returned the game for me automatically. First time that has ever happened, except for when I took back Madden 20 after 20 hours.

I love it but it won't win any awards. They don't want that kind of backlash. It might get a few nominations but if it wins any the gamergaters will lose their minds.

It's somewhat unfortunate, bc I think they nailed the gameplay. It's very satisfying. Shooting, runnning, sliding and dodging seamlessly was a pure joy.
I loved the production values and the general level design, the exploration, the outstanding graphic and sound design, all the details. A big single player only 30h blockbuster that's not an openworld. So much great value in that game.

I think that they pushed too hard for the feels. I hope that the sales don't discourage sony from investing in AAA singleplayer games. Their games are good but they seem to be more and more focused on the standard, derivative, open world structure. I'd love more variety.

Geoff Keighley is party of the REEEEEsetEra crowd, it's definitely winning GOTY award.

Can't help but wonder what ND was thinking with this game. Did they not realize relying entirely on subverting expectations and alienating fans would cripple long term sales? Were they only concerned with impulse buys and preorders? Or did they not even care about sales, since their unique message about revenge being bad just had to be told at any cost.

You are comparing a linear (abysmal) story game to open world/semi-open world games with side quests, optional areas, hidden secrets, endgame content and good story.

Wow they really lied about the completions. That game was trash imho, shocked so little completed it when the game have accessibility options that allow you to literally turn off the AI... Bruv!

Almost the entire industry was in on it, the Agenda was the goal here, just look at the reviews.
96 Metacritic rating 1 week early from shills, while the critics that didn't get the game 1 week early gave the game around a 85 Metacritic score, 30 critics were enough to bring it down to 93, if it had another 60 (non shills) this game would probably end up in the 80's.
