Imagine a difference of over 10 ratings between the people that got it very early against the people that didn't, probably never happened in the history of this industry.

I don't like this 'woke' direction in games. XBox too with Tell Me Why.
What's even worse is betrayal by a game developer that you invested in a LONG time ago.
The franchise I'm talking about is The Longest Journey-->Dreamfall-->Dreamfall Chapters. The first 2 games were mild woke with the 'big bad corporation doing nefarious things', but that was the extent of it. Then in Dreamfall: Chapters, it literally had me playing a super-woke antifa type spying on Boogaloo Boys. It was so obvious and nauseating I quit immediately.

Wonder if the PS5 will run it 60fps? I havent broken the seal on my copy yet. Waiting on PS5 if I can get a launch unit.

I mean tlou p2 had more reviews than the original game, 22 more reviews to be exact and it still scored extremely well and didnt dip far down.

I sure hope AAA devs wouldn't care as much about sales when designing their games, it's not like we are in some shortage of focus test designed games like the ones ubisoft and EA like to pump out.
I would surely prefer more TLoU2, Death Stranding and TLG than Assasin's Creeds, Far Crys and Destiny.

I'll actually be impressed if Geoff doesn't bend over to his REEE crowd, that forum acts like that game is the best thing in the history of mankind.
We will get more of the Latter and more like GTA V where people spend a mint on microtransactions and this doesn't generate half as much outrage as a so called woke game.

I pointed out the difference in ratings were probably the biggest in the history of the industry between the reviewers that got it early and the ones that didn't, and that if it had another 60 reviewers of the latter, the ratings would probably be in the 80's, but most of the industry was in on it, trying to push the agenda, so 93 it is.

I meant animal crossing but Ghosts will sweep. I would like to see TLOU2 win because the uproar will be glorious but they don't want that backlash.

Better, even though The Last of Us 2 sold way more in the first week, both God of War and Spiderman surpassed the numbers of players by a large margin, and the difference is only increasing as time passes.

You are comparing a linear (abysmal) story game to open world/semi-open world games with side quests, optional areas, hidden secrets, endgame content and good story.

Word of mouth spreads OP, I have a friend who doesn’t following gaming news an was super excited for the second game, he was pissed that I didn’t say anything. Anyways the game should’ve had longer legs, I was thinking it was gonna be at the top for 6 months due to lack of releases this year.

Spider-Man bundle was flying off the shelves and it was also during Black Friday.
We have to see how The Last of Us Part II performs on PSN next month.

Seriously, people need to finally move on from this game already. We get it. You hated it. There are literally hundreds of other games out there to experience that might be more suited to your preferences. Further proof that a lot of gamers in this generation are entitled and spoiled. Wah, that story didn’t grip me or get me fully immersed, she’s too buff and the writing is a little weird.....1/10.

Before it launched I was certain that TLoU2 would be Sony’s most successful game ever; I’m sure many others thought the same. But if sales are really that front-loaded it might actually end up behind most of their other big games this gen. I’m curious where it ends up.
Though I wonder, is this the first time a game has seen such a backlash because of its story? I know Mass Effect 3 got some shit for its bizarre ending, but that didn’t really have an effect on the rest of the game (and Bioware actually changed the ending in response). But I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a negative reaction for the story of any other game. Maybe Final Fantasy 15, but that was more because the story felt incomplete, not because it was bad.
The reaction is the total opposite of the first game, whose writing and characters were almost universally acclaimed, by fans and critics alike.

Yea i must agree with this, the game looks like trash and frankly that's from somebody that loved origin and odyssey and couldn't wait on the next one.
Anyway on the topic itself.

We are living in some extremely polarizing times and anything remotely seen as woke will receive backlash from the gaming world which more than any other form of entertainment has many anti-sjw types. It's as simple as that. If this game came out in 2013 it would not be the culture war lightening rod it is now.

Doubt most people aren't as triggered as the loud minority.
As much as I love the game the SJWs in many ways created this atmosphere. They pushed and pushed and pushed and and people are pushing back. I don't think TLOU2 deserves that backlash but it is a casualty of the culture war that the woke in many ways started.

This is true. People swear Abby is trans which is not true and that Neil Druckmann inserted himself into certain scenes which is also not true. Many of the games hardest haters really did act like the woke outrage mobs they claim to fighting against. Like I said in another thread eventually all we will end up with is soulless corporate cash grabs like whatever GTA V has turned into because people can't create anything without either being problematic and offensive to whatever group or woke propaganda.
