Yes because when have Sony first party studios delivered? Oh wait...sorry, but Sony competes only with themselves for visual fidelity. The Horizon Footage was not indicative of the real gameplay
Day 2, part 2...
- Walmart is going live at 9 PM...
- I got it... I got it...
Look at the one in Argentina. We dodged the bullet this time around.Around 950 Dollars
We did it again folks, the meme is alive again. The most expensive PS5 in the world.
i think one of the reasons why sony in the past didnt have cross gen first party was because how different the architecture the machines are and just put small teams on collections/remasters.
I think there will be a number of small differences but most notably it will be the ray-tracing in the 30 FPS mode, the trailer/gameplay looked good and from what I can see the lighting was not ray-traced, which is impressive. I think it would benefit greatly from dynamic and bounce lighting, considering the main character walks around emitting light from his chest or something as well some of the dark/gloomy environments which feature light sources like torches and fire.Wait...
That Demon Souls trailer was playing at 60fps correct? That must mean it was in "performance mode", right? Since BluePoint have said there are two visual modes.
If that's the case, than what the hell does high-quality mode look like? Hmmmm....
When the ram bandwidth was announced it was obvious it was going to use lower quality assets. Not sure how people thought it wasn't?
Wait, there were people that thought that XSS was going to utilize the 4k asset packages?
Really? None of it looked ray-traced? I swear some of that lighting looked ray-traced, but what the fuck do I know. Maybe we can argue about it endlessly and count frames.I think there will be a number of small differences but most notably it will be the ray-tracing in the 30 FPS mode, the trailer/gameplay looked good and from what I can see the lighting was not ray-traced, which is impressive. You are right in that is the point, how you promise a next gen console but you know only less resolution when is obvious the devs will need to
something more aggressive, when we read devs saying things similar stuff I remember saw some of the usual users in twitter saying was possible
to use high quality textures because SFS like if the XSX will not use it.
Sold out in less than 1 minute. Fuck
Exactly, I am not saying you and me have a disagreement in this.SFS and the SSD will help with textures but it's still going to need lower quality to match the bandwidth.
I skipped the video entirely but this made me want to watch it.Alex sounds like someone died from inside so sad
Lol it actually very well may have been ray-traced, although Digital Foundry get hard over anything which is ray traced and they didn’t point it out. I could be very wrong lol the lighting does look extremely impressive, but I do remember listening to a developer who said that many devs have found work arounds and alternative methods to ray-tracing which arguably look just as good and are less taxing on the GPU.Really? Only why you market a console as the same graphics quality as XSX but lower resolution when delta in memory is just too big.
I guess I haven't been following the marketing close enough or just assumed. I thought the marketing was same games just lower fidelity.
When has Guerilla ever shown a bullshot trailer? Oh wait...Yes because when have Sony first party studios delivered? Oh wait...sorry, but Sony competes only with themselves for visual fidelity.
I totally expect workarounds this gen in relation to ray-tracing, and if it looks that good I'm okay with it. I would imagine the basic approach developers will take is ray-tracing things that obviously should have it and workaround everything else. As big of deal everyone makes ray-tracing, I feel like we're only going to get bits and pieces. I'm fine with that honestly, I'd much more want them to explore interesting gameplay ideas versus anything else.Lol it actually very well may have been ray-traced, although Digital Foundry get hard over anything which is ray traced and they didn’t point it out. Is because you have enough knowledge of the topic to see unreasonable the XSS have the same graphics but in 1440p but instead you seeI guess I haven't been following the marketing close enough or just assumed. I thought the marketing was same games just lower fidelity.
To be fair I think the claim that all they have to do is lower the resolution was never made by Microsoft or Developers. The only claim that Microsoft made with the XSS is that it can play next gen games. They never said it would be at the same settings as the XSX though.
The only people that I've seen make the claim that all they have to do is lower the resolution were people on social media.

the classic console warrior saying if Microsoft said it is true.
When I reality is "well guys the XSS is a good offer for the hardware today but the games of XSX will run around 1080p and with another
couples compromises in order to preserve things like framerate".
A resolution downgrade definitely helps, especially from 4K as it's stupid power hungry, but yeah that wouldn't be enough. All the features of the GPU should be In tact though.
Guess I wasn't paying attention to the social media side.
The toxicity on the front page and in most threads is through the roof. Its hard to believe that its coming from grown adults.
I might end up taking a break from all forums again because its unreal. The FUD threads that have been started by the anti PS crowd have taken over GAF.
I wasn't on forums when the PS4 was released, is this normal?
But social media I also meant places like Gaf and N4G.
Lowering the resolution would have worked of the situation with the ram wasn't so messed up. But even then 20 CUs would have lead to no RT or severely downgraded ray tracing.
I don't know if I agree that the ram situation is messed up. Its just a different strategy. As Microosft is approaching/pivoted to supporting PC for every release they already have to support multiple levels of hardware. The bandwidth in the XSX seems fine to me for what it's trying to accomplish
RT also is "somewhat" scalable as RT is such a broad term. A game that has RT reflections can technically be classified as having RT. I don't expect many games even on the ps5 and XSX to have many RT features like Control.
According to this data sheet, the PS5 is unable to play CD, only DVD and better¿Does PS5 play CDs?
You gotta be kidding me....
I was talking about the ram in the Series S.

Big Oofs
Some of us even have girlfriends! My bad. Tend to forget people have kids lol
No, I don't think you are misremembering. I don't remember them ever going this route either. Though there might be an exception I don't recall. That wasn't my point.I'd need a refresher but I don't believe Sony ever did cross gen games from first party before. The usually supported each platform with their own games. Such at GT6 only on ps3.
Is that the case or am I misremembering?
are you sharing or?Some of us even have girlfriends!
Can't wait to play couch co-op with mine. But regardless, it's nice to always have one controller fully charged when the battery dies.
How do you know they're in-game though? After learning that this game is cross-gen, I just can't believe any of the shots are?Too bad that SMM is not a pure Next Gen game. You can see it at the fire as an example. But in general it still looks damn good.
It looks different for me with Horizon Forbidden West. I am surprised that it will be released for the PS4 because the trailer, which undoubtedly shows In-Engine and mostly In-Game! shots, screams PS5 and Next Gen from front to back. (The Pictures show it impressively)
Physis (clouds, wind), distance vision, Distant view, the assets alone for example, are of such high quality, variety and quantity that this is not even remotely possible on the PS4. I would speculate that two versions are actually being developed there. One for the PS5 and a (heavily) downsized version for the PS4.
(For example, the underwater world would not even exist on the PS4 (like Horizon zero down on the PS4). You would be able to dive into the water (cause of the Singeplayer Part) but all the assets, particle Effects (like the fish swarm) would not be there, at least the most important ones (Buildings) ).
This is how I see it with HFB at the Moment. It looks heavily Next Gen for me.

As I said, Sony has always kept support going for their previous gen consoles years after they've moved on to next gen. People are trying to somehow connect their commitment to that very same strategy this gen with a few cross-gen titles for once in their 25 years of existence. It's a small break from their normal transition strategy but in no way should have peeps running around with their hair on fire (or stoking any fires) thinking we're getting cross-gen titles on PS5 for any length of time after launch. It's only a handful of games that have ties to last gen IPs anyways.
I think Sony regrets not selling for $600 at $150 profit.
The artificial scarcity tactic might actually push people to just buy the Xbox.
Just quoting this fan from another thread, must really be hard for fans of another console
seeing next-gen will just be a repeat of this gen.
This gif always gets me.deja vu
I'm more likely to quit gaming than buy an xbox.
