The writing and plotting can be pretty cringe at times but ultimately I was hooked enough to binge through it in 2 days.

Hawk's transition from absolute nerdiest and shyest pushover you've ever seen to constantly sneering and flexing punk rock bully with cheerleaders hanging off his arm was a little too fast. There's a bit too much forced modernity to it for me but nothing new can be produced that isn't that way so what can you do.

I liked the 1st season as well. Haven't seen the 2nd one but the characters feel human and William Zabka literally carried the show.
His delivery was not great early on but as the series progressed and he really got into character... he killed it.

Agreed, should have happened over a couple seasons. Still love the show though, me and my kids watched it again to get ready for the new season.

Wow. So I'm watching the last episode of the second season and
I groaned when I saw it was going to be an all high school brawl but it actually kind of works.

Finished season 1 and three episodes in two season 2. I got the wife hooked and I’m going to show her the original karate kid after season 2 is down.

Show does have some cringe moments but currently the only show I will put my phone down to watch. Nothing else comes close.

After finishing both seasons I am super pumped for season 3. There are many ways that they can go. Anyone know if the original writers are still part of this?

I remember enjoying the first episode as a free trial. Completely forgot about it after that. Had no intention of subscribing to a paid YouTube. Pretty sure I’ll watch the rest if it all comes to Netflix.
Ralph Machio was 27 when Karate Kid was made

Just binged both seasons in a week.

Absolutely loved it. Favorite series in a long time. I can't wait for Season 3 and wholeheartedly recommend anyone on the fence give it a go.

God damn, that final episode of season 2 was kick arse, really well done action scene. Except for Sam, she needs more training.

And wasn't excepting the season to end the way it did. Thank goodness Netflix picked it up.

I watched the first season a few years ago when it was on Youtube so I hadn't seen it for a while so I watched the tournament fights at the end of season 1 earlier today and I can't believe how low energy they are compared to the crazy high school fight at the end of season 2. It honestly has to be 1 of, if not the best action scene in a TV show for me. Hugely impressed. And the music is so damn good.

Just got into this. The cheesiness just adds to this greatness. It’s pretty fun all around. I’m like 6-7 episodes in

Finished both seasons again with the gf, it's still pretty good but some scenes are hard do swallow, totally forced. It's a shame S3 is only in 2021

Finished the first season, and outside of being 100% predictable like 3 episodes in it was a blast for the most part. Problem is the damn kids, the last couple episodes of S1 really do a major 180 that felt rushed and unnatural. Love Johnny, carried so much of the show and you get just enough of him trying to be a better person and it's fun to watch and see his growth. Does a great job of his idea of the Larussos being right, he is working to get his dojo up and running, taking in the rejects, giving them someplace and for the most part, doesn't think about LaRusso. Meanwhile super successful Daniel has made it his lifes goal to crush this paycheck to paycheck guy living in povertys dream because he was bullied by him back in high school, giving advice to let stuff go and move on.

I'm 4 episodes into S2, and I am not feeling this season at all. I'm sure stuff will play out in the second half, but the teen drama is too much and don't care for Reese at all. It all feels like filler so far, where I didn't feel as much downtime and filler in S1.

i literally couldn't finish season 2

i felt basically identical to what your describing with the show, and season 2 is fucking awful. and i'm usually the one guy that loves things everyone hates. it's weird to be in the other side here, but i don't know how anyone is loving that full house soap opera bullshit that is season 2.

i'm gonna force myself to finish and give it another go when season 3 comes out. but man this show was brilliant the first 5 episodes, then it went down hill fast, and straight into a steaming pile of horse shit

Should I watch the movie before I watch this
I would say the first two are essential viewing, and I am pro the third one due to how ridiculous the villain is.

Speaking of part three: When is "Karate's Bad Boy" Mike Barnes going to make an appearance in the show?

To each their own obviously. I thought the first season was perfect, but I also really enjoyed the 2nd season. Kreese was instrumental in ALL of the bad stuff that happened in the movies (outside of Okinawa), so him returning was just.. *chefs kiss* combine that with the meet up with the old Cobra Kai gang and the "will they be friends/will they remain enemies" stuff with Johnny and Daniel.. I really enjoyed it. I usually hate kids in shows, but I felt like these kids did a pretty good job all things considered.

Looking forward to season 3 for sure.

Finished season 2 and DAMN what a finale! Definitely more soap opera and incredibly convenient meetups in random places but still so much fun. And good grief does that Tory chick have a bod straight from a wet dream. Dug that actual wet dream in the show as well :p

Def down for s3, very curious where it goes. Thomas Ian Griffith FTW!!!
