These estimated wait times are definitelt estimates because im down to 20+ mins. Hopefully it doesnt do the same thing and queue me again. If it does imma just do a normal retailer.

It probably has an anticipated amount of time per user queued, and most people likely already know what they want and are checking out quickly thus causing it to go much faster than the timer indicates.

I believe that was innevitable.

Sony won't produce like 20 million consoles this year to meet the demand to everybody that wants it.
PS4 was already scarce... PS5 situation could be even worst.

Plus retail will have units at store at launch like usual... so part of the production if for key partners for Black Friday.

That will obvious happen again.

What's crazy is that they might end up selling even more systems and ati have big problems meeting demand. The PS4 curse.

Is anyone surprised? Preordering has been a challenge online for 20 years. I remember downloading some alert software to get a PS2. I stayed up most of the night with the flu and fell asleep during a 3AM notification. I finally got it within the next day buying a bundle with Ridge Racer V, Tekken Tag Tournament, and Midnight Club. These websites still can’t handle the bandwidth.
I remember doing that every time at 5AM to try to get a ticket for Brasilian FIFA World Cup... I had a software bot that even alarm when tickets were available... even so it was pain to get these 2 tickets for semifinals.

They legally can't advertise it if they don't have stock in store. So they'll hold the minimum amount stated in the ad back to sell on launch day.

It may be 5 each, but there will be some.
Wow, guess I have to show up EARLY if I want a good place in line. Didn't get to preorder.

What bad press? That's the PS5 is selling out too fast?
There was lots of bad press on how the release of preorders was conducted. Do you want links?

You have to be a PS plus member to get free shipping i believe.
I believe you are right. I recall seeing strikes on the totals page for shipping with a yellow highlight, but I was too anxious to stop and read. Was not in the frame of mind to leave anything to chance.

Wtf- no invite for me. I’ve spent so much money on PSN over the last decade that I thought it was a sure thing. Lookin like 2021 for me...

Well I guess my 25 years of loyalty to Sony, going back to a first-gen PS1 with Rayman for my birthday, launch PS2, 60gb fat PS3, three different PSPs, OLED white Vita, PS4 and PS4 Pro, was all for nothing.

But seriously, 3080 was a disaster too. I think at this point, bots buy everything, similar to tickets. When I wanted to see Radiohead I didn't even try to get an official ticket and just accepted I was going to pay double for scalped.

Keep refreshing at walmart. Apparently stock keeps coming back in. I'm guessing as people secure better preorders they're cancelling the Walmart ones.

I don't see a pre-order button on Walmart's website. Is that where people are going? Or does Walmart have an app?

It's a mess because the demand is too high and retailers went a day earlier. That's not "bad" news though.

*snipped the links*

"Bad press" in this case doesn't mean any of the reporting is in good faith.

There is so much demand that sites are crashing, not responding etc? That is a massive success for Sony. Here is another way you could write those headlines.

"Demand for Playstation 5 crashes Target, Best Buy and Amazon, with desire for launch day units far exceeding available supply."

Then you could have 20 sites write that, like what you linked. I'm not sure what people expect. Unlimited units? How else are preorders supposed to be "conducted" other than listed for sale and have it be first come first serve?

I guess people were imagining it being like this, with everyone being able to get one. That's not how it ever goes.

Also, I'm sure more units will become available before launch day, and then you can always try in a store on the actual day as well. Everyone who wants one will be able to get one soon enough. It's really not a problem.

I got the invite, waited in line. Page started to load then went back to another line. Now I probably wont have time to wait cause of work. Some BS.

I see where people are coming from who are annoyed. When sony said they would give ample time I'm assuming they believed retailers would follow timelines.

Same.
Dinged to let me know it was my turn.
Said I was being redirected to the store.
Page was force refreshed, now says it going to be an over hour wait because the store is busy.

I made it. The email confirmation took a while to come through. Now I can relax, until it comes launch day haha. This was the same tax for me as the Target one, but through Sony I bought their launch titles and most accessories. So glad it worked. Those other sites should look into getting que pages up for other big tech launches. Can't wait to finally try out the controller and see how the games evolve over the next gen.

My card doesn't have a hold on it yet.
Ah man. Does your card sometimes send you messages through your phone asking if you made the purchase? Otherwise I'm not sure. Maybe just its slow on Sony's end, with all the traffic? Hope it goes through.

I'm in but don't see the PS5‘s. Can someone post the link from their history to the page where the PS5‘s were listed. Assuming it's at the direct.playstation.com/?????
