According to the website, they are scheduled for 2021, but I don't know how updated that is.

The thing is, I don't have time to sit or be ready to go on a computer to pre order. As soon as lock down is over (another 2-3 weeks in Melbourne) I want to just walk in a store and preorder. If that means I get a PS5 in Jan/Feb then I'm good with that.

After some greek video podcasts that i watched earlier this evening(xbox fans) i feel so frustrated from the stupidity and ignorance of technical information that occurs in my country. For some reason i am here to tell you i am sorry on behalf of greece
and i hope that someday we will keep up to the knowledge that exists out there.......
Ah Greece. In my youth it was known as the cradle of philosophy and democracy.
Now known as a cradle of filth and fud.

Just kidding. I love Greece. The sun, the beaches, the food, not being allowed to flush the toilet paper.... Good times.

I think the only multiplats with RT that we will be able to compare at launch on both systems are Black Ops Cold War, Observer and Watch Dogs Legion.
Yeah, I agree.

But still: I am not a COD person, and Observer is just some point & click junkie trip. Maybe Watch Dogs and AC could be interesting to have a look at. Cyberpunk is sure to use RT, but that will be patched later on, isn't it?

Yup,I think there is one upgrade at launch (probably just for higher resolution) and some time later there will be a more "robust" update with more next gen features.

Yeah that's true, I forgot that a lot of the times the PS5 is also not native 4K /jk
You're a 100% wrong, Horizon Forbidden West trailer was found that it is running at a full 3840 X 2160p Native 4K & it graphically DESTROYS anything on Xbox Series X!!

Also its music from the trailer is soooooo good, listen to it if you want & while listening to it, just think of how Xbox can return to be as a big competitor against PlayStation because it's looking bleak at Xbox now.

So we only have about 5.5 weeks til Launch date (October 5th - November 12th). Are we going to get a slow trickle of new info each week, no info at all or is the dam finally going to break on so many areas ?
1) Will a significant number of people finally get to play with the controller?
2) Will all Sony Studios launch games be playable before launch date? (Spiderman MM, Astros Playroom, Destruction All Stars , Little Big Planet)
3) Will the new OS be shown? (with proper Start-up screen and a walk though of some of the new features in the OS)
4) Will 3rd parties get the chance to show off their games running on the System before launch to show why we should spend $60-$70 on their products
5) Will we get a real chance to see side-by-side comparisons of PS5 and XSX?
6) Technical deep dive of what is unique about what is in the system (A follow-up to Mark's Talk at the beginning of the year)
7) System tear down showing everything inside.
8) Installs from UHD Blu-rays to System internal Memory.. How long does it take? Can I start playing quickly? (like they had with some downloads in the PS4 era) and have the rest download in the background)
9) Any info on PSN only Launch Titles for the system? (Will Bugsnax steal the show?)

Or is the plan all along to give as little real information as possible and really do no real marketing of the unique aspects of the system and its games?

I just saw a post on Beyond3D forums where Alex says essentially that they (DF/him) expect the PS5 to perform between RX 5700 (!) and RX 5700 XT in 'general' (not only RT performance). I can't say that i am suprised anymore but that's just incredible.
Should be better than that, PS5 TF count little higher, but also going from RDNA 1 to RNDA2 and what ever custom configurations they made, we won't know until consoles are out and same games can be tested all across platforms, including PC's.
It's nonsense, obviously.
I don't see how the PS5 could be weaker than a 5700XT when it's on a similar (and maybe more advanced ) architecture and it's producing more teraflops than a 5700XT.
You’re right, but we should stop making comparisons of the PS5 and Series X GPU’s to the PC discreet GPU’s, what’s found in the consoles is heavily customised, it’s an apples to oranges comparison in my opinion.

But let’s play along with comparing the PS5 GPU to something like a 5700 XT, it fails to take into account the architectural improvements from RDNA 1 to RDNA 2 such as the IPC gains and performance per watt improvements, there’s many many others as well.
Although I'm skeptical of their claims, we also have to remember that bandwidth also plays a huge role as TF is just one part of the GPU. The PS5's GPU, 5700, and XT all have 448 GB/s, but on PS5 that 448 GB/s is shared between the CPU + GPU, and IIRC it's even shared with the Tempest Engine (AMD CUs stripped of its caches). Whereas those RDNA 1 dGPUs have their 448 GB/s fully reserved for themselves. We'll see how it all pans out, with RDNA 2's architectural improvements and other hardware customizations combined with Sony's very efficient low-level API, I do think PS5 will punch above its weight even compared to equivalent RDNA 2 PC dGPU over the coming years.

The truth is that BOTH of these consoles are really pushing it to meet their respective release dates. Both are having SDK to HDK issues. For Sony this appears to be centred around the save transfer system for cross-gen updates, and late UI changes. For MS and for me, more worryingly, it is around key hardware features such as raytracing, hence why launch games need a patch to enable it. I suspect all issues to be resolved in time. It is a shame that they couldn't just agree to delay both of them, but I doubt either would have held up their side of the bargain.

You are in for something, mate. Since we have seen the PS5 games running on the box, everything in your list is good to have, but inconsequential. The box has been soldout 'till kingdom comes.

Of course we will get tons of unboxing day one, and a few "home" tear downs. But for those that actually will have the system at home, they'll be happily playing whatever game they have at hand. BC included.

Honestly, I'll be very surprised if we will get anything more than trailer mashups until launch day, both companies most likely already showed all what they got, what is essential for the launch - this is our new console, this is how much it costs, and here are the games for it - that's all that's needed for the average consumers.

You do realise this is a cut scene, using far higher polygon geometry level assets than anything you'll see in actual gameplay?
Or might be even a precaptured video sequence, because this game will be released on PS4, too. So precaptured video sequences would make sense to use them on both consoles.

I'm sure the game will look amazing but you can guarantee it wont be using this level of cut scene geometry at native 4K, during actual gameplay...
Nah man, we can get better than this, it's why I say it will be better, those shots some of them yeah because they used lighting and properly-placed camera angles, but we can get better than that during gameplay, Aloy will look better in the final game, bookmark it!

You mean MS.

Sony still has things to show this month ;)

Hardware breakdown will be in November.

wtf?
So what happens if your Internet cuts out for just a moment during single player, you cut back to main menu... At least you wouldn't have to wait too long start again due to superfast loading, but still that's a pain.

Yeah, this is an interesting one. We need clarification from the developer I think. I guess I can see needing an internet connection if they're doing things on the servers, although that's damn weird for a game that you can supposedly play solo. But PS Plus being required? For what? Unless Sony's about to make PS Plus a requirement for all online play? I just don't see that happening, or at least not unless they start bundling PS Now into PS Plus or something like that.

Guess we'll see! Will be annoying if your internet glitches when you're 3/4 of the way thru a level and you get kicked back to the menu and the beginning!

I wouldn’t delay either, COVID has made people hungry for new stuff ! It’s time to sell.

I thought we were past comparing in-engine bullshots with cherry picked screenshots running in-game. Apparantly not.
Well to be fair any next gen game looks like a bullshot next to Halo.I mean even what 343 considered a bullshot for their game look like crap.
Remember this pic ?

This is Halo's bullshot, provided by 343 and aimed at showing the game in its best light.

Yes, and that is absolutely mindboggling.

Yesterday in one of the Series X videos, someone said that the removable SSD is getting very, very hot. This means that at least the data on it is not reliably and permanently stored because SSDs tend to lose data at too high temperatures.

However, I have no idea in what time frames this happens.

Yep let's have some good news for once this year.Even though people aren't the richest they've ever been now (well except for the 1% of the richest people in the world)those that can afford any of the console they want it will be a good thing to change your mind from what's happenning.
Wether you buy an Xbox or a Playstation it will at least relief you from some stress, make of evade to other worlds sometimes better, sometimes worse but at least different from what we're living.

Both are still available or at least still on order pages.

At Slovakia: (slovakian friend says that they are still available for launch)

Here at Finland, estimated 1.12.2020 so not on launch probably, but it tooks like 1-2 weeks before they sold all lauch units here

PS5 sold out in 30s to few minutes here, and estimates talk about 3-5 months of waiting from launch for next batches. They dont take new orders now

And S is still available for launch here.

So, at least at EU there are some places with xbox availabe for launch or within a month from launch

not Finland again. Lol seriously, you guys are trying way too hard.

I have absolutely no idea how someone watched that picture and thought "It looks good, let's send it to the press".maybe the person who greenlit it was hangover or exhausted and didn't pay attention.

Imagine how terrible the other screenshots must've looked. I think the game looks pretty good in motion, but the screenshots are rather damning.

Maybe Jim Ryans nephew works in the marketing department of 343?
