its most likely a cross gen game which could explain a 3 year turnaround time. naughty dog shipped tlou2 in just under 3 years after shipping the lost legacy.

They already announced the Cross-gen titles, Why would they keep the secret for GoW when they could easily include it in the list of the "transition titles" and prevent more backlash later on...

Idk about that, Zhuge is saying it's a PS5 exclusive.

Moore'sLawIsDead also leaked that the game will be a PS5 exclusive and that apparently Sony want to showcase it as "this is what next-gen brings you" and that it will have "jaw dropping graphics that will approach photorealism", we later learnt that he got that information from RedGamingTech. The fact that it is a PS5 exclusive does fall in line with what Zhuge has said.

i dont trust anything they say after what they pulled with miles. there was a lot of chatter about it being on PS4 after the june reveal and they kept it under wraps until september.

We would have seen some sort of footage by now especially if it was in the launch window so no way it's in February.

I remember what ZhugeEX said about Sony wanted to focus their showcase and events for the PS5 launch window only so it makes sense that we haven't seen the game yet, my guess is Sony are saving the footage for some time early next year, maybe as a counter for whatever Microsoft will be ready to show. I still expect the game release sometime late next year, to be more specific exactly this time next year.
Imagine this shit at the Game Awards.

Yea, and they keep it because they knew it was going to cause issues, that's why they released the PlayStation blog, even including Horizon FW that was not part of the presentation. That's why I don't believe GoW is one of those games that will be cross-gen, it was part of the presentation but it wasn't included in the list.

In fact, the only reason why I believe HFW is going cross-gen is that Guerrilla took a hit releasing KSF only for PS4, so I imagine starting the generation again losing all that possible money, was not great for the same studio two times in a row. But this is just a theory in my mind.

God of War was heavily structured around having a HDD to the point where it impeded what could be achieved with the game.

There is a 0% chance of it going to PS4. IMO

I remember Cory Barlog being very adamant about not having a loading screen the entire game but during the final boss fight where the giant picks up Kratos and Atreus, it fades to black for a few seconds but that was a loading screen. I imagine that on PS5 the one camera shot would be exponentially easier.

Yeah, there were a lot of workarounds needed for the game to work.

-Slow walking when approaching loading points.
-Teleportation room that used an incredibly slow animation you had to wait to end before going anywhere.
-Fast travel gates that sent you to a corridor

That alone is a lot of additional work that could have been better put to use towards the actual game.

Of course we then had a lack of bosses and spectacle in general because the PS4 simply wasn’t powerful enough to handle it.

Yeah i remember Cory talking about how the first fight was supposed to be kratos and Baldur punching each other into mountains but they ran into vram and hdd limitations.

But i just trust Sony to do the right thing here. Spiderman released after gow launched and it's sequel is a cross gen game.

you better not be back here wanting this thread closed again.

And old people rock, i can't wait to i am 70, Zimmer frame races are going to be fucking brutal.
I received enough replies to let me know that I shouldn’t that again lol. Nothing wrong with old people, I want to live forever myself, but come one you’d be surprised too if someone told you they’d remembered watching Chaplin movies when they were younger, he couldn’t even speak in his films.

Well yeah, the next gen update for consoles was never going to release at launch

Yeah I think it was the recent explosion in Lebanon. 😥

Wow. Fuck me.... I had missed this somehow. That is horrible........ Just...no words. I feel like such an ASS thinking that was from a movie...but it just didn't look...real. My thoughts and heart with the people of Lebanon. As if they haven't had enough to deal with in the past decades!

Sheesh... Kind of puts your little video game hobby into a different light when you see that kind of thing, am I right? Real life just beats you over the head sometimes.

It's being released on current gen consoles, it will run on next-gen consoles through BC.

So about those heat "issues". The hotter the exhaust is, the more heat is being effectively pushed out. Which means the internals themselves should be cooler. Isn't it a good thing that so much heat is pushed out?

No, that's not how it works. The heat internally is always significantly warmer than the exhaust. That's physics. But you're right that the more heat that gets expelled the better cooling is taking place so yes that is a good thing. If the heat was not expelled, things would melt.

Just not worth playing at launch if you have a next gen console. Big fuck up I think.

Oh, I wouldn't go that far. I'm sure it will be JUST FINE, playing as it would on a PS4 Pro or XB1X. Those machines aren't anything to scoff about. Plus, sounds like it's going to be a really extensive and deep game. If it is...I'm sure people won't mind playing it again when the true 'next gen' version is available, which I think will be sooner that a lot of people expect. In any case, it's that GAME that makes the game, not the specific resolution or feature set, at least not now that we're already talking about 4k or near 4k resolutions, etc.

I'm not too worried about this. I just still don't understand why the game is only $49.99???

Only upside is Series X owners will get the Xbox One X version running at full settings, that will be the best way to play on console until the next gen patch arrives.
Yeah indeed, I've got an original Xbox One, so I'm going to hold off in playing it until the patch arrives. Don't think this game was really intended to be played on the Xbox One and PS4.

first of all I don’t believe there is thermal issues with xsx. But what you said is not entirely true. The internal temperature is always higher than the exhaust. Otherwise what is producing all the heat? The key is to look at the trend. Whether the temperature keep rising, whether the fan gets louder over time are more important indicators.

Thanks for the clarification.

It came out wrong. I didn't mean that the inner temp was cooler than the exhaust temp. What I meant was that if the exhaust temp was lower, the inner temp would be even higher as a result of the console being unable to tranfer the heat to air and/or push air out.

We know these consoles are beasts. They are going to generate heat. We want that heat out of the shell as effectively as possible.

Interesting thought about the heat trend. I guess, the hotter it gets, the more difficult it is to prevent heat from building even more, ie heat spreads?

Absolutely. This game's not really intended for this generation anyway; while it probably can be played, I am not going down another The Witcher 3 path, where game on base PS4 was pretty painful.

They chose to be dragged, and we already see how downgraded it became. Imagine on PS4 and X1, it'll look like crap.

The game looked great on ps4 imo, the true pain were the loading screens

Opening the inventory was taking a pretty long time to display all the items, especially as you could carry more than freight train with you; not even running the game from the SSD alleviated that much.

Loading screens... yes, they were bad too; while I didn't have too many frame drops, the game was definitely bogged down by the PS4 hardware. Looking back in time and knowing that now, I am wondering what kind of animal will Cyberpunk be on actual generation systems, and now I am talking from the perspective of a PS4 user, not a PS4 Pro.

Cyberpunk 2077 seems to be a quite expansive open world game, and CDPR has been known to create more ambitious games than the hardware used to run said game on. So was the case with The Witcher 3; it was serviceable, but not really optimal. That's the reason I will have another go at that game (after 400+ hours already spent in it) on PS5.

Has any Cyberpunk footage been confirmed running on current consoles? Because all I’ve seen is stuff clearly running on brand new, top notch PCs.

Not that I know of, I would be really curious to see such gameplay footage; I don't care about their RT implementation as stated in this article, but all this dancing around having games running on next-gen consoles is getting a little long in the tooth.

3 years is pretty normal seeing as everything has apparently been laid out and planned already, and SSM are fast developers
