oh man, this game is completely different now. I'm just very curious about how they funded those free upgrades. i don't think there is MTX in the game. I guess it is a very small dev team.

Yeah, this game has really evolved for the better over time. I actually hadn't played it in like a year or so and loaded it back up about a month ago. WOW...HUGE changes. Very cool.

This developer is very small and it was a super ambitious project. It got some rightful criticism at launch because they did not/could not deliver what they'd been talking about leading up to release. It doesn't have micro-transactions or anything so I don't know how it's continued to be worked on like this. Maybe Sony and MS are just helping them with funding as kind of a 'project' thing? In any case, I'm glad to see where it is today and where it's going for tomorrow.

Don't see what's funny. I love Tetris and Tetris Effect is awesome. If it runs better and smoother in next-gen, all the better.

P.S.: I see a lot of XSX and T Effect going hand to hand. Has MS purchased the devs of the game or something?

Using my phone and the kishi means that this is going to replace my Tetris 99 habit

Sony announced after like 6 months of enabling downloads on PSNow that more than half of time spent on PSNow was dedicated to downloads. The service continued to grow far faster than it ever did after being a streaming only service, suggesting that....

PSNow is primarily a download service now, despite the number of streaming games, it's not how the majority of users are spending their time.

Gamepass and PSNOw are fair to compare and it's also fair to say they had different histories that effect them.

edit: https://www.gamesindustry.biz/artic...et-double-the-gameplay-time-of-streamed-games

April 2019, downloads enabled in October 2018.

Not just more popular, twice as popular.. and the service grew quickly, after being stagnant for 4 years.

PSNow is likely barely used for streaming percentage wise at this point.
I like to stream a game to see if I like it enough to download. I like that a lot. Did that for Control and the last Final Fantasy and a few others. It plays and looks good enough to get an idea but of course if I’m going to spend much time with it I want to download it.

And I really like to use it for the old Sonics for my son. He can play all those games and he can’t tell the difference from streaming at his age.

So is there a site or link to watch this AMD thing that's happening in about an hour or so? I don't know what it's called exactly and haven't been able to find it yet...

Want a medal or what?

Arent we adults whom can wait a bit for sales?

For that 160-180€ GP costs yearly, I can buy easily 5-10 games within 0-3 months from the launch. And own them. Forever, without fear that they are removed from the service. And even that is more than I realisticly can complete in a year

And Playstation makes quality games so they dont have to give them out almost free to get them sold.

Why noboy cries about Nintendo, should they give their exclusives for "free" too on launch because one company does it?

Where is the logic

You can still buy them and wait for sales on Xbox if you want, no medal required.

People are comparing Gamepass to PSnow and I'm staying what the major difference is, it's first party games on day one.

Also no fear of being removed from the service as first party games are permanent 😎

I’m sorry, but you’re incorrect to say that Microsoft has had all their first party titles on Game Pass Day 1... Not even all the Halo titles were on Day 1, and many were just added a few months ago... The narrative is that all 1st party will be on Day 1, but reality has been and most likely will continue to be very different.

Sony’s approach is much closer to a Netflix model that’s more sustainable to them and 3rd Party devs. And Microsoft has followed suit by only having certain 3rd party games available for a specified time.

First party games released since Gamepass existed are day one, so not incorrect.

Honest question, is English your first language?

"Today, we announced that all new games published by Microsoft Studios will be released into Xbox Game Pass on the same date as their global release. "

They have stuck to this... they never said they were releasing their entire back catalog.

My bad. I just assumed (probably like many consumers) that they’d have most if not all of their 1st Party catalog on there. And you at least have to admit that delaying was to their advantage, especially with the Halo franchise. Appreciate your respectful attitude on here..

All games over 3 generations will be playable on one device day 1. What a massive undertaking. No matter how many Craig and “no games” memes, Microsoft did a fantastic job in BC which is in the end about games.
No, it won't support all 360 and OG Xbox games.

It will support all non-Kinect games available on XBO (being a part of them some 360 and OG Xbox BC titles). XBO didn't support all 360 and all OG Xbox games. According to the MS website XBO supports 568 Xbox 360 games and 36 OG Xbox games: https://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/backward-compatibility

As comparision, PS4 features 52 'PS2 Classics' plus many PS1/PS2/PS3 remasters and remakes. All of them will be playable on PS5 BC for free if you had them for PS4. But unlike in Xbox, if you had the original PS1/PS2/PS3 game they don't give you the PS4 (now playable on PS5 too) version for free.

That's what I thought too. The bit that's confusing me is the part about "playable on Xbox One today" - Is he saying the current BC games that are on Xbox One today are the ones confirmed or that every non-kinect games will work? Xbox One doesn't have full BC with 360/OG Xbox games, right?
They already mentioned while ago that the 360 and OG Xbox games to be supported by Series X|S BC were going to be the ones already supported by XBO BC. This means that all 360 and OG Xbox games not supported by XBO BC won't be supported by Series X|S BC.

What’s with all the xbox unboxing videos? I thought these were done a while ago...
At least in Europe some gaming media just got their Xbox, so they are doing them today. It's a second batch of smaller gaming media sites. The biggest ones got it many days ago, so did it in the first batch.

Do all first party games from Sony launch free on PlayStation Now at launch ?

Of course not.

Do people not know what comparable means here? It means something makes sense to compare; not that they are the exact same.

GamePass ultimate is the service MS offers where you can download games and stream games for a single monthly fee.

PSNow is the service Sony offers where you can download games and stream games for a single monthly fee.

They then have their own differences, a different price, different games, their streaming works differently and is offered on a different set of devices, etc.,etc.e,tc.

PSNow a cloud subscription service which lets you stream games to PS4 and other devices and download PS4 games to PS4. Doesn't let you download them to PC.
xCloud is a cloud subscription service that lets you stream games to Xbox consoles other devices.
Prime is more than just a movie streaming service.
Edit: Maybe I am being a bit confusing lol, I am saying you can compare xCloud to PSNow.
Sounds like Game Pass is a more robust game subscription service but still a game subscription service just like PS Now. xCloud is just one part of Game Pass Ultimate. Streaming is not the primary way to play games on Xbox just like on the PS4 people won't be steaming PS4 games. Regardless game sub services should be compared in totality not just on one small part. The means in how you play doesn't really matter.

It's comparable to GamePass not xCloud.

They are different; but both are primarily download services... by the way they are used.
That and they are both game subscription services. When you sign up you don't get bits and pieces. The point is to get access to hundreds of games.

PS4 is more profitable than any console in video game history

7evfVe8.png

I’m surprised that the PS2 made less money than the PS1. How did that happen? According to this, Sony’s gaming division made barely any money in 2005, a full year before the launch of the PS3! Is it because of the launch of the PSP?

It’s kind of weird that Sony’s profits already peaked in 2002 during that generation, and then quickly plummeted in the years afterward. Not what one would expect from the most successful console of all time. Financially, it seems the PS1 was actually the more successful endeavor.

Got my Pulse 3D Headset today from Sony direct store. Shipped and delivered in just 24 hours.

Wow, that's cool. I just got notification yesterday that my pre-order accessories were shipping from Sony and due here on Friday. I saw they're shipping from St. Louis...interesting.
