A Closer Look at How Xbox Series X|S Integrates Full AMD RDNA 2 Architecture

"That means that the infinity cache could hide somewhere inside the red square. "

No, it can't.
it's just the "front end" like in:

That's just CU's with L1 and L2 caches... from RDNA1 even.

I think Microsoft has partially listed them for Sony today. The XboxWire article basically reads: "Here are all the nice features that RDNA2 makes available. We are the only ones who have them all. Remember that if you don't hear them from the competition".
We all know the PS5 has raytracing for example. MS wasn't trying to say that PS5 doesn't have the feature. They are certainly saying that PS5 doesn't have VRS, SFS and ML/Direct ML.
But of course Sony has every opportunity to announce that those features are covered by their own customisations. From now on, if they don't they are also talking.

I'm sure that's what MS wanted you to believe and as usual it worked. Sony is not one to get into a public dick measuring contest, so it will take some time to become clear. MS is better at marketing and throwing red meat to it's army of social media fanboys.

I’m constantly amazed at how much effort folks put into threads like these. But until Sony discloses their version of RDNA 2 any perceived advantages cannot be yet gleaned.

Still, I think it’s good news for Xbox customers to have the full RDNA 2 features confirmed...even if I think they already kinda were. I think it’s well within the realm of possibility that Sony knocked it out of the park with their own solution. Who knows when we find that out?

My sincere hope is that each console possesses it’s own distinct strengths so that folks that are fortunate enough (in terms of financial flexibility and ecosystem open-mindedness) to own both consoles can experience the broadest gaming experience possible this generation.

Nope... my slide was from Series X's SoC and RDNA 2 Navi 21.
I never used a RDNA slide in this thread.
Ehh... ?

Sorry? What are you talking about? I did not used any of these pics in this thread.

Post from the speculation thread:

Aside this ridiculous console war.

People we have a real insider with RedGamingTech that infinite cache wow.
He also said before today's showcase in a video, that AMD's perf-per-watt target (+50%) for RDNA 2 was surpassed and it was actually a bit higher than 50%.

Well...
RX6800_11.jpg

Regarding Infinity Cache on the consoles, he mentioned on Twitter that his sources were hinting at something along the lines of the PS5 having a variant of the Infinity Cache implementation.

Do they actually wanna put more fire on the ongoing console war ? This shit is embarrassing, coming officially from Xbox. We already knew that Series X/S is closer to standard RDNA 2, while PS5 will use a custom RDNA 2 with unique added tech into it by Sony. We don't even know what Sony has added into it.
The blog post pretty much confirms that the Series X and S have the standard RDNA 2 implementation (don't know about Infinity Cache) and that the PS5 implements RDNA 2, BUT it has customizations made by Sony that have not been revealed yet (rumors of PS5 not using the standard RDNA 2 VRS implementation in favor of a customized solution that Sony has patented, RGT saying that the PS5 has better geometry handling than the standard RDNA 2 geometry engine which might influence the AMD architecture roadmap for RDNA 3). But you know exactly why MS worded it the way they did lol, not surprising coming from them anyway.

And RGT tweeted something interesting after today's presentation.

Some people on this thread lol.

Please, if you don't have anything to contribute to the discussion, maybe you

It's possible I've commented the wrong post maybe?
I was refering to this pic here:

That is RDNA.

RDNA 2... see the front-end in the middle? That is what that part you marked is about.

Microsoft: i am the PC market, i am the cloud, i am software, i could buy amd and nvidia and sony....

Sony: i built a console!

Microsoft PR is all about old man yells at cloud cause the talk about hardware is useless without the games to show how powerful it is. This kind of shit only reaches their toxic community ears....sane and normal people out there are viewing the trailers of PS5 and X games and have already convincend themselves: PS5 has the better looking games.

Yes, as what I was saying... RDNA1

Yes this is the desktop standalone RDNA2 GPU.
Again, I'm not STATING the Series X die shot has infinity cache, I simply pointed to some transistors that wasn't CU's.
With that said, you can't compare the desktop GPU layout with a SoC layout though. There are bound to be differences. And the L3 cache is so "low-level" that it could be placed somewhere else on the die. (in direct difference to L1 & somewhat L2 caches)

Normal people dont go posting on forums and the sales of the first few weeks dont matter .. its who wins next year that will win.

Next year when lots of multiplats come out with ray tracing support, unlocked frame rates and MS exclusives.

also microsoft doesn't yell at the cloud .. MS IS the cloud.

I doubt you even understand the questions you're making.
If there is anyone still willing to try to make him understand, please.

It is the front-end of the GPU.

How do you put a big L3 cache in somewhere else of the GPU without you see it on the SoC? C'mon... do you know what looks at a big L3 cache? eSRAM on Xbox One.
You can clearly see the L3 cache in the RDNA 2 shot... it is like 10-20% of the chip.

20 people here fighting about what kinds of extra stuff the cpu Xbox has over the ps5 while the rest of the whole world trying to get their hands on 1 preorder ...

does it really matter ? We kinda knew the Xbox is more powerful than ps5. Like honestly what’s new here ?

but so was the Xbox one x and still the best looking games were on ps4 pro.
MS’s problem is not the hardware. It’s them sticking to Xbox one for another year 2021. Which means we won’t be seeing anything till 2022. By the end of 2022 we will start hearing rumors about a pro version of these consoles lol.
MS need to focus their development on eye candy graphics targeting the Xbox series x first.
sadly in game development it doesn’t go like this. The target is base console and then scale it up . Sadly this process means we won’t get stunning looking first party Xbox games if they are going to target a 4tera flip machine

"we invented direct x"

Expect another similar result this generation that amounts to nothing. Just because you create your own software solutions doesn't mean they can't be replicated elsewhere. And in Sony's API case, probably better.

"Sampler Feedback greatly improves memory efficiency by allowing games to load into memory, with fine granularity, only the portions of textures that the GPU needs for a scene, as it needs it, providing an effective 2.5x memory and bandwidth multiplier beyond the raw hardware capabilities."

Wow, that sounds like a game changer for Series S.

Maybe if you give up the Geometry Processor, Graphic Command Processor, ACEs, Primitive Shaders, ROPs, Rasterizer, L1, DMAs, HWS, etc.

All the GPU front-end units.
The Raster, Prim and L1 cache is in each own row of dual CU's. L2, geometry and DMA are probably situated in my red ring, so there wouldnt be enough space left for something as big (as in transistor size) as the "infinity cache".
I stand corrected:) thx!

Hahahahahaha oh wow.
So did MS start the bullshit FUD to begin with or are they the ones picking up FUD from their own fanboys now?
