Why do you seem bothered by a dev being accurate or adding an "up to"?

I'm sure the framerate psychos at DF will measure all of this stuff and we'll have averages in a week or 2.
I’m not losing any sleep over it, don’t worry.

it’s just a weird trend that has only recently come to light.

Well the "gaming internet" has gotten pretty ridiculous with framerate analysis and calling people liars over a dip because some marketing said 4k60.

Better to cover your ass and throw "up to" around... and then just deal with the other end of that idiocy (people shouting WHY CANT YOU MAKE IT LOCKED? WHATS WRONG WITH YOUR HARDWARE?!!)

For real. As much as I like watching Digital Foundry stuff every now and then, I think they've turned a lot of people into framerate and resolution snobs. If you're having fun, and the framerate and resolution don't drop to a point that the gameplay is affected and you can actually see a massive difference....then who cares?

Days gone gets a 25 GB update patch - Sony going balls deep it seems in their games for ps5
This will be the compression update, since the dev behind of Oodle Kraken and stuff said if using the new algorithm, the game need to download all its assets in new form.

Yeah, when I read stuff like this, I start to wonder what these people are actually looking at for a "next-gen" game 🙀

It's clearly cross gen, butGen 9 is off to a bumpy 2020 start. There's only 4 AAA's to look toward to across the board in the first yr. At least the Meh games are scoring well

Days Gone will run on the PS5 in dynamic 4K at up to 60 FPS

Bloodborne news next i hope. Surely Sony isnt going to put it on the PS+ collection and make us play it at 1080p 30fps on our brand spankin new next gen console.

That's part of the problem.. the related problem being people in general just have no fucking clue what they are talking about in regards to anything remotely technical lol

lol I did say it was half of the problem :messenger_tongue:

But yes, most folks string together a few of the latest buzz words trying to pass it off as knowledge without being anywhere close to grasping the underlying concepts.

The funny thing in this age we live in is that there are so many great free resources out there but most of these people don't actually want to learn anything.

Less people know, more they think they know. More people know, more they understand that they dont know everything.

And combine that with "stupid people think they are smarter they are" + "extroverted people over estimate their intelligence + skills almost always which leads into wrong sense of being right + higher self esteem than they should have" = console warrior madness when enough of these are combined into one person.

These twitter "game journalists" and other "experts" are probably worst, super extroverts thinking they are next gift to mankind and then they see few cool words and think they are experts now.

I have been nerd when being nerd were disgusting to others, aka early/late 80's, been following tech on almost daily basis since, went to engineering school, university, no-lifing with tech stuff for decades and yet I know that I dont know anywhere near what Lord Saviour Cerny knows, or other high level engineers.

And then there are people whom think they are smarter and wiser than Cerny because some idiot on twitter said something technical that either party dont even understand + it is complete bullshit :messenger_tears_of_joy:

But it is difficult to teach ignorant people, tell them that they are wrong and they know nothing = same as talking to a wall, because they are so sure they are right, as their self image is completely wrong.

People should always stop and think: am I right? and check their facts

When we were young and naive we figured it's just a lack of maturity that surely people would eventually grow out of. Nope. Stupidity and ignorance permeates every age bracket; it does not discriminate.

Yup.. buzzword bingo.. "ultra settings" one of the dumbest.. at least 4k and 60FPS have the same meaning across all games.. you'd think "ultra settings" were some concrete thing that is applied across all games equally reading the average persons posts lol

"Next gen we should be getting 4k60 on Ultra for all games".... this sentence has NO FUCKING MEANING!

Yeah I’m gonna go for 8/10 maybe a little under.

Gameplay solid but not different enough to SM. Smaller game scope to SM. Pluses for graphics. Pluses for new character and expanding the spidey universe.

PS4 version gets basically the same score. Has more pauses for loading and lower FPS/res but still great for current gen standards.
To me it will interesting to see how DualSense special features will affect review scores of these games, particularly multi-plats.

As ridiculous as that sentence is we do know what it is they actually want and mean. They want parity with PC at max settings. Which they'll get close to with cross gen games for the first year or two (depends on the game but probably more like a custom mixture of high up to max) but then the PC train zooms on by, consoles eventually are at some custom variation of medium settings again and the cycle repeats.

You can just boil it down to "A little learning is a dangerous thing".

Truth.

The boss confirmed it gamepass what matter to them.

He doesn't care about the casual gamers who cannot afford $70 games, he wanna suck much more than that from their pockets.

The fact is that, Casual gamers play one or two games per year and they are less than likely to buy these games when they release, maybe few months later. So, they rarely pay full price anyway. Thus they rarely spend more than a $100 / year and hence gamepass is actually expansive.

"You know, gaming can be an expensive hobby. I see certain platforms going to, in the US pricing, $70 for games. The consoles are $500 in US pricing," he said. "I think that's a heavy investment for people who aren't every day playing videogames ... the more casual player or a family that's balancing many things."
Poor PS5 digital.
Edit: I just realized "I think that's a heavy investment for people who aren't every day playing videogames ... the more casual player or a family that's balancing many things."
You are still charging to play free to play games, Phil, sit your ass down.

Some PC gamers, mostly warriors are crying because Godfall requires 12 GB to run with all in
ultra 4k just because if NVIDIA sells something that should be enough doesn't matter what.

Probably the bigger reason of why requires so many memory is for one the RT, that thing eat
memory and second the game is also been dev for a console which doesn't need so big memory
pool for streaming as current gen on the other hand in PC they follow a more traditional approach.

I remember someone told me that the PC gamers are not in that way, is true an average PC gamer is not
but those PC warriors, oh boy they believe its machine should run anything doesn't matter what, each
start of gen start crying about the same thing.

Btw I also prefer buy a NVIDIA GPU before than AMD GPU but hey that doesn't mean I cannot see the
good things in AMD.

This times a thousand.

I can enjoy Digital Foundry's stuff as much as anyone, but there's side to it they can't control despite how neutral they come across. It's the perfect fanboy ammo. People losing their shit over resolution they wouldn't be able to differentiate unless DF zooms in 100%. Not to mention any little dips in framerate. Dirt 5 is a great example of this. The gamers making the most noise about this stuff makes me wonder if they even enjoy playing games to begin with. Fuck, I remember how cool it was to see a console being brought to its knees cause a game was just too RADICAL!

That guy has verbal diarrhea, does he ever go quiet ?

I have never heard 1 person give so many interviews and talk constantly about nothing.

Sometimes less is more.

I can watch SX without AAA and only indie games to attract players of that profile.

You can buy Game Pass games too. At a discount no less. Sony guys really get riled up over Game Pass it's pretty interesting to see. You don't like it? Don't subscribe.
Great, you can get PS+ discounts, too. Probably the same with Xbox Live Gold, though I've never owned an Xbox with Live Gold so can't be 100% sure.

Procedural creating worlds, landscapes, fauna and flora? F"ck off NMS did that 5 years ago ... with just 12 employees? Didn´t take them years to create, they might have stolen it? At one point, Bethesad is going to ask the community to step in and help them out creating assets for them (free).

Well, if a gamer doesn't like gamepass then there's no point of buying Xbox
I like, but for my kids :messenger_tears_of_joy: children usually have more time to play, and they play tons of games. For me it's more cheap. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

In my case, i prefer select specific games. Sometimes i play in services, sometimes not. I loved Ghost of Tsushima, and i needed to buy, of course.

Procedural creating worlds, landscapes, fauna and flora?

Only on the development side. With the released game, everyone will have the same map.

This is a tool for developers to create massive landmass and does not mean the land will be randomly generated in real time like No Man's Sky, meaning your game will look the exact same as everyone else.

This is not so unusual, as many developers have created such tools.

about game pass

I said my opinion before but about game pass I ll say this:

if u own ur games through ps4 generation ,,, when u turn on ur ps5 this November u will find all ur OWNED GAMES ready to download and replay as u want ALL UR LIBRARY carry on with u

when u only pay subscription to microsoft every month which is accumulatively expensive but u rent the game that will leave gamepass library eventually

when u turn on ur xbox next generation u need to subscribe to play which game Microsoft choose for u every month u don't own nothing

always buy what u want leave what u don't want

no one need 100 games every month most of which u will not play either it does not interest u or u don't have time to play and if u play something u own nothing u pay just for a permission to play and sometimes u will not find something u want to play but u have to be subscribed either way to play any thing u always behind pay wall it is forcing u to pay every month to pay any thing

most don't have time to play more than 2 or at most 3 games per month so I buy them cause

- I own them forever
- I prefer replay games I like 2 or many times more than play something new does not interest me
