PS5 Tells You How Long You've Played Games--Including Previous PS4 Play Time

Praise the Sun!

Among the many changes and improvements you'll find in the PlayStation 5's new user interface is an enhanced profile page. Perhaps most notably, this includes a list of your played games along with details on when you last played them and how many hours you've spent with each one.

The feature works not unlike the Nintendo Switch's equivalent, but this appears to be better in a few ways. For starters, you don't need to wait a period of time before this play time estimate becomes available. It's also a bit more precise with the numbers it shows, as it doesn't round those numbers in the same way that Switch does.

What's most exciting is that these play times don't just start counting once you've gotten your new PS5 plugged in. Your profile also showcases the time you've spent playing on PS4, which means all those hours you sunk into Overwatch, The Witcher III, Rez Infinite, Destiny 2, or your game of choice will be represented here.

Nice! This is the one feature I miss from the Wii... And I wish Steam's version of this wasn't so broken.

I wasn't sure if I wanted to upgrade, but now I'm set! This is the true next gen feature I was waiting for! 🥳

Fucking finally!!!!! Good that it works on older games too - they always had the data because you can request it via GDPR. playtime of all your titles etc.

Finally. Welcomed addition.

Steam has this I believe. Although not for activities within the game or counters. Just a total.

How do they know my ps4 play time?
Does it take into consideration offline time?

... what else does my ps4 track about me, without telling me?

I would think almost every thing you do on the system would be tracked in someway and able to be dumped. If not for telemetry it would be for bug reporting and debugging.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Amazing inclusion

I'm curious about how deep does the rabbit hole go.
Do they track individual actions in every game? Where do you struggle or abandon? How many times you've jumped on a crate?

I'd really like to see my individual, granular, nausea-inducing stats.

Glad to see that feature included. Wish Nintendo would add it back like 3DS and Wii U had bs the limited 5 hour interval thing in the Switch profile.

FINALLY!!! Always wondered why you can't see it on PS4 and Xbox One yet! Such a basic feature nowadays!
Hope MS does the same for Xbox!

12981264983642342307423402872634 hours in RDR2/RDO more than likely when I find out.

(I can find out in the game stats as well, but I always forget to check)

Yep that had been a feature since xbox 360. I'm still pissed off i spent 100+ hours playing blue dragon, and only got 10 gamer score points out of 1000 from it. Every achievement in that game seemed to be hidden.
You achieved nothing except getting blued by the dragon

thinks Halo Infinite is a new graphical benchmark
Ya’ll make it seems like activity time matters lol for me it’s a cool feature that I just don’t fool around with another A+ for SONY

A small detail that adds up and when you look the broader picture it looks like the PS5 was a very well thought machine! Kudos to the Sony team.
