By that same logic the Digital Edition is also not the "real console", because it's not, and this is made even worse by it being a paper launch.PS3 fans from 2006 being likely hounded by the 2006 equivalent of you are travelling forward in time to say “how do you like ‘em apples?”.
Seriously though, for good or bad reasons, the common sense opinion of the time judged the 20 GB PS3 like they judge the XSS now... not the “real” console and thus when one thought PS3 they thought $599 and when they think Next Generation Xbox they think $499.
The ironic situation in all of this is the never ending talk of rights, and physical media, game ownership and so on (especially from the PS community) and the same people who tout this logic of ownership fall on their sword to say the PS5 is $399.99 for a console they themselves would never buy.
