See! I told ya all, stick with publishers you are familiar with. This game is so poorly optimized on both platforms. I dot get how a corridor "walking simulator" can have such poor fps. Now you know why they postponed The Medium.

It dropped to 10fps on the XSX at 1080p. The PS5 with RT dropped to 12fps ... and has no 4K mode.
PS5 has two modes... one with RT (probably 1080p) and another without RT (4k... maybe with DRS?).
Xbox has one mode without RT (4k... maybe with DRS?).
I'm not sure why you are using that video that doesn't even get the things right.

Not so sure about their summation that this isn't some bug at the SDK level though.

The real answer

First impressions of the PS5:
- Astro's playground feels like a really bad platformer. I understand it's free but it did nothing for me
- Haptics were so overrated that made my head hurt. If Astro's playground was the prime example of it, those are not really revolutionary. Yes, you can feel different surfaces because the vibration pattern is different but nothing else.
- Triggers are indeed a revolution. Really love the resistance and hope 3rd parties really embrace them
- Installation times are horrible. I installed both Miles Morales and Demon's Souls and it took more than 10 minutes each one. I thought that was a thing of the past but it doesn't seem so.
- Miles Morales seems to be amazing
- Demon's Souls really feels like an old game with a new coat of paint. It looks great, although I expected more

All in all, I think people were really overhyping everything. My friends and me got together last week to try AC:Vallhalla on the XSX and were more impressed. I suppose already having seen games in 4k a week ago really spoiled the next gen jump for us.
It's by no means the huge difference some posters here were saying regarding the XSX.

Don't take me wrong, those two games are great launch titles but reading some posts here it seems like it should feel like a different generation than the XSX

You should buy a Xbox and play the "new" game there... I'm sure you will have way more "innovation".

Same here and I hit the button to add to cart like 2 seconds after it appeared, constantly refreshing. Currently, May 2021 from komplett for me with a XSX as backup to play Valhalla on right now.
I have no idea how so many people got in front of me in the queue. I did what you described but no luck.
May 2021 Can't come soon enough. I hope it's just a placeholder date but with my luck it probably isn't.
The jet engine (PS4 Pro) will make do until I can get hold of the new hardware.

That was hard to read, but I think you agreed that he’s not a dev?

Nothing “salty” about what I said. I’ve said it any time I see people throw his name around as being some beacon of truth. He’s never hidden his preference for Sony, only ever has “insider knowledge” of things that favour Sony, and has confirmed himself that he’s not a dev. People need to take him off the pedestal.
Man, your posts are basically going to every thread that someone mentions
Playstation and you cast your hatred on that company like a little kid. It's easy
to see why you see people who favor Sony everywhere.

Hard to Kill
Just got mine, I had to rearrange parts of my living room and my cable management (or lack thereof).
Switch some optical cables, used the optical out of my TV, reparameter my google home to control Tv and amplifier.
Now I'm waiting for the transfer between my ps4 and ps5 it is long, but it is easy to do and I probably won't have much to do once over.

If these stores let all the Bots buy all the consoles...
They should let me put a robot out to hold my place in line for black friday...

the issue is - bypassing bots and confirming actual customer order is relatively easy - it just takes a bit of effort on part of the store.. just shows how lacking they are with respect to their online storefronts..

Did I say somewhere that there's no innovation?
Am I allowed to say I expected more or not?
I was expecting more difference coming from the XSX. Some of you talk like DS is the second coming of Christ. Also, I was really not expecting having more than 10 minute installs with the super-fast ssd but I suppose it's due to the BR drive speed.
As I said, Spiderman Miles Morales looks amazing. There are some problems with the temporal reconstruction on patterned surfaces but overall it looks absolutely gorgeous.
WTF were you expecting.
Well, reading some of the posts here and some reviews it seemed like it was such a step up from other rumbles but it feels like a more powerfull rumble than what's already on the switch for example.
Great answer, thanks.

That sound a bandwidth issue, guys probably this is the reason of why AMD is using Infinity Cache and
like PS5 use high clocks in order to help its caches. After all AMD has always had some problems with
its bandwidth usage compared to NVIDIA

I don't think is related to "split" memory of XSX because is it's too early for games to get into trouble with
crossgen titles but also could be a reason.

Yep. Lets not forget that AMD did NOT sell a high end 50+ CU version of any RDNA 1.0 cards. They likely saw the benchmarks and realized that increasing CUs without adding infinity cache was not going to increase performance.

So they literally gave up on the high end market for a full year and a half while they waited for infinity cache to be ready.

MS was ok with it because they wanted to win the tflops marketing war and didnt care about the actual performance war. It seems to have worked because many people like Shinobi bought the xsx thinking it was the most powerful system.

I don’t know I played Demon’s Souls on PS3 and it was my GOTY 2009, TOP3 in the generation and one of best play in my life (it still TOP10).

It is a better experience than the spiritual sequel Dark Souls, better than Bloodborne.

And I did not even tried the remake (and I probably won’t unless there is some big DLC with new areas).
He is reviewing pretty well so I believe it continue being that good.

1) You are basically the first person who I read who say than Astros is bad platformer, is not Mario Odyssey but is not bad
2)Again the same
3)Agree
4)If you are reading from disc, well welcome to a limits of read of a Blu-ray if you bough digital well is what your download speed can do.
5)Is a good game
5)You expecting more than the devs tell you to expect is your fault no one else's

And you were more impressive for AC in XSX than Demons Souls in PS5, damm at least you tell me was ultra in PC 4k I could more or less
agree, you talk about overhyping but basically you minimize all, but well, each one lies to himself as he wants.

How weird you have discussions throwing shit to one side which now is not so impressive even when normals users and journalist think
different than you.

This was from january last year, and if you bothered to check the messages from him, he said he was talking about "life". It wasn't about MS or anything xbox related to anyone's knowledge...

Way to take a quote out of context! It's almost like you are searching for BS...
Nice damage control. "Life" isn't specific to his personal life. It's referring to anything in life. Cut it out

You do know their CFO literally came out and said that they will release bethesda games on other platforms as long as they play best on the xsx. so yes, they have already admitted that they will gut the ps5 version before they release it.
I'll just wait until they drop to the bargain bin PS5 or get them once they are discounted on PC. The only games I picked up last generation were Outer Worlds and Doom. The wife and I have had two of every system since the PS3 and 360 generation. We only use the Microsoft ecosystem to play the Co-op exclusives. I don't want a second subscription anymore, so it PS5 (primary) and PC (for limited titles) this gen.

Not everyone’s great at video games. Took me 7 hours to platinum and loved it.
lol.. ah yes, it was just too difficult for me, that's it lol

I said it's "barely a game", so.. it's a game ;)

It's just an incredibly basic platforming game.. not sure how anyone could argue otherwise.. the main point of it is just a tech demo, and what people seem to be enjoying, is finding easter eggs and references to Sony/Playstation stuff.. that just doesn't excite me *shrug*

No man, I’m saying I am not great at video games so could appreciate it more. I imagine someone better than me would fly through it and it seem very short. For someone like me it was nice.

-Devs: "Wow the astrobot game show what this new control can do, is awesome"
-Journalist: "I am impress for what the control can do I expected less and your really need to play astroboot is more than you can see at first appearance"
-Normal gamer: "Much better control than the dualshock I want the devs really use it and doesn't become a mimic and astroboot is great for be a free game ""
-Someone has months saying bad things about Sony: "I am not impress believe me I am impartial"

Ah gotcha.. I thought you were just being sarcastic since it's kinda a fun family friendly thing.

I really do game for a challenge though; that's sort of my thing.. so a sort of whimsical game where you mostly are just going around collecting things is just not doing much for me.

Nothing wrong with loving it!

And I think the controller is great overall.. best PS controller so far.. I'm just not personally wowed by the haptics. I wasn't really expecting to be either though.. the triggers on the other hand are mighty impressive in what they are capable of.. but I don't have COD or any game that is really using them, so need to check something else out to really have that hit home.

One of the issues I had with the PS4 was it's WiFi capabilities. PS5 stomps all over it.

I have a 200meg connection.

Here is the speed test on the PS4 taken today:
MeDjs8h.jpg

And here is the exact same connection on the PS5:
i5oUh3b.jpg

Finally! Able to download stuff so much faster.
THIS!!! I've noted the same HUGE improvement in network speed. Also seems more stable for online co-op play and things like that. Wifi-6 for the win, baby!

I some what agree, as Astro's is good, but I hate any of the sections that involve those suits and tilting of the controller. The ball and rocket suits I thought were fun, but the other suits are not fun. To me, it lets down the whole experience. :messenger_frowning_ All the Playstation gear to unlock and admire is really cool, and the overall cuteness of the game is very charming. Missing a story also. It's nice to have a story to follow like the Knack games. Makes it more memorable.

Now the controller I'm opposite from you as I like the haptics but set to medium intensity, and hate the triggers. I turned them off, so that fixes that. It's great the option is there to set the controller the way you like it.

None of the other big releases interest me at this time. Burnt out by Spiderman which I finished on PS4 with all DLC's, and not really interested in a sequel of any kind. Don't care for Souls game or Assassin Creed games.

So mostly trying out some PS4 games. That's really awesome, and love the fact that can browse the store for PS4 sales, and pick them up as time goes on, and play at locked 30 or 60 fps. So far backwards compatibility has been incredibly solid. Amazing actually.

I don't mind waiting for better games to come along that take advantage of the hardware. There are a number of games I'm looking forward to (Ratchet and Clank, Horizon Zero Dawn, etc.).

Every generation starts out slow, and if you don't care for that, then you wait a few years before getting the console.

People are not over hyping the console, they are excited about a new generation, and that's understandable. Lots of potential there.

Your post comes across a little bias which is funny considering how similar the hardware are, and you mention AC:Vallhalla which runs better on the PS5. 🙄 But you expected a generational difference with the PS5? (In general? or that game?) Makes no sense either way.

There is more and more a wall being reached with graphics, and it gets harder and harder each generation to impress people. It's called diminishing returns, and maybe that's what you're experiencing.

Well been at it all day with PS5, what a bit of kit, stunning. Will pop back here occasionally to see whats going on but honestly guys you need to stop squabbling and get a PS5, first console I have been truly blown away with as generally I have had PC's that are more powerful. Currently rocking 3700X with vega 56 but it wont see a huge amount of action now until I get a 6800XT as this console rocks!!!!

If AC Valhalla appeared more impressive on serie X (and it runs even worse) than the exclusives mentioned on ps5, there is something wrong on you, with all respect. Anyway you seem the only person in the world who downplayed the haptic feedback. Makes think a bit about the whole purpose of the post.

John even said he believes Valhala graphics are scaled down compared with Unity.
