PlayStation VR Thread 2: Reloaded

That seems perfect! I was just sitting here trying to work out the best way to leave the PS5 in the entertainment center and still be able to switch out cables for VR and back. It wasn't looking good. This would make it bearable. Thanks!
Yeah people have messed with switcher boxes and stuff but it barely ever works. This will be guaranteed.

Maybe you could even get a longer one to route it around to somewhere that's easy to access for the cable swapping.

So has anyone gotten the PS5 adapter for the camera and tried using it also with the camera extension cable? I have been curious about how well it will handle a 3 tethered cable situation, but they won't send me my damn adapter.

Just finished Astro bot rescue mission. Got all the little guys in every level and every challenge level.

Honestly, one of the best game experiences I’ve ever had. Didn’t expect this to be so well done. This game made me feel like I did when I played video games as a kid. Going through that first level and immediately realizing how much deeper a platformer could be, and really seeing why being “inside” a video game is so much better than just viewing it through a flat screen, was a pretty redefining moment for what video games could be.

I found myself calling my guy “little buddy” lmao, and was laughing at all the goofy stuff in the game and hardly ever getting frustrated. There is this sense of wonder and amazement I feel every time I enter a new level. The game is not very hard either which I love! It’s deep enough that I had plenty of frustration trying to complete puzzles, sections or bosses, but I never got overly frustrated. It always felt fair! And that’s so rare in platformers (well for me at least bc I suck at video games). The controls felt amazing! The car graphics are really, really good and the perspective feels great.

I used a desk chair so I could swivel around to see things to the sides or behind me. At times I would even stand up to try and get a better view of the playing field. On a rare occasion I would even walk around the area I was in, searching for other little buddies to rescue, coins or those hidden chameleons. This fucking game just did everything right. 10/10 hands down, no contest. Easily in my top 10 of the generation.

I really felt like I was in the game world, like most of us 30 somethings, 40 somethings and beyond, that is a dream I’ve had since I started playing video games as a kid. So exciting that it’s finally here! And the developers of Astro bot absolutely nailed it.

hey, guess what?

not only you won't be playing the likes of Dirt Rally 2.0 VR on PS5, you won't even play PS4 VR dlc for Dirt Rally 1!

so that's why it's getting delisted

Btw, not informed anywhere, but pretty sure PS5 doesn't run already delisted Driveclub VR

that is to say, the only 2 full motorsports experiences on psvr are not available on PS5

what a fucking lame shitshow

Just tested and Driveclub VR works flawlessly on PS5.

Not related to this but after seeing this post and deciding to download and test Driveclub VR, it just brought it home to me that downloading is so much faster on PS5 compared to PS4, thank Cerny.

this game is so much fun that ive replaed the demo like a hundred time hahaha. im just worried there wont be a lot of variety in the game. how is it? the three different cars i drove in the demo all felt way different, so that was cool, but the track was the same (city streets during the day time kind of). but i found myself drifting around every turn cause i suck at racing games. but oh man it was fun af!

is driveclub the best race game on psvr? any other good driving games out there. im literally not a fan of racing games at all but im considering buying this one soon bc it just feels so awesome to drive.

it's certainly the most complete

until a year ago it still featured even a solid 8-player multiplayer, complete with private rooms

it's about 5 different tracks for each of the 5 countries or so... also tons of cars, but unlikely you'd be able to unlock some of them now

For those of you that received your adapter how long did it take to arrive?

I ordered mine on 7th November and received confirmation that it had shipped on 13th November but it hasn't arrived yet.

Best VR racing game on the PS4/PS5 is Wipeout imo. I was not a fan of Dirt Rally, Driveclub VR is fun and arcadey to drive but it is blurry. In VR I can forgive a lot when it comes to graphics and Driveclub is no exception, its shockingly blurry at first but after a while I forget it and enjoy the game for what it is, very fun. Hopefully they will up the resolution to take advantage of the PS5 but I doubt it, I think Sony has abandoned Driveclub. But if you want something crisp clean and even better, Wipeout is my reccomendation.

I have Euro physical releases of Don't Knock Twice and Here They Lie coming from Play Asia thanks to their free shipping special.

Looking forward to them. Just in time for Christmas!

As for my adapter, I got an email that says:

Your request for a PlayStation®Camera Adaptor has been received.

We will contact you again about the status of your request.

That was 5 days ago.

Driveclub VR is my favorite PSVR racing game alongisde Wipeout Omega Collection. In DCVR you have many tracks across six different countries, both point-to-point and circuits. There are some very pretty varied locales from Norway, Canada, Scotland, India, Japan, and Chile. You can play them at any time of day you wish. There is a meaty career mode with races, drift events, time trials, etc. where you can level up and unlock more cars and paintjobs. You can also do free races and even just cruise on any track you want without having to race against other cars, in this mode you can get out of the car anytime you want and freely take in the vistas. (You can't walk while outside, though.)

If you don't mind futuristic racers, Wipeout Omega Collection is another must.

Driveclub VR is simply magnificent. The exhilaration is a step above.

Hot tips:

Play in cockpit of course
Turn off all assists, you want to feel that loss of grip and learn to deal with it - in Vr it is a pleasure
If using the controller - you use it in motion setting like a steering wheel in front of you. Flat games this option is useless, in VR the 1:1 comes alive

I will try the motion controls in it 🤔

I'll shit on Sony for not allowing psvr mode in racing games easily achieving 4K 60fps on PS5 any time I feel like steaming off on my purchase decisions.
Come on man, Sony does not care if you constantly keep attacking them, all it does is annoy the posters here that have a PSVR and want to enjoy it. Don't you see that? Your not attacking Sony, your attacking the people you want to discuss with because they own a PSVR.

All I'm asking is for you to mature up a little, yes I get it you love the brand new tech that is quest Quest 2 I do too, and you have now abandoned 9+year old tech that can't compete with the Quest 2, but not everyone here has and I think a little respect goes a long way.

This is me showing you some respect.

looks like Dirt Rally is back on business on PS5, kind of:

still delisted, and still blurry and stuttery in those heavy snow places... way to go, PS5...

Dirt Rally's VR DLC got delisted since last year for no apparent reason (Licensing?). It's on Codemasters to put it up again for purchase, and it's also on Codemasters to patch the game for PS5 upgrades, which I doubt they ever will, it's just not worth the investment.

Where does it say it's "stuttery" on PS5?

It's a great game, and definitely sets in a good place for PSVR. By that I mean you won't see full-on racers like that for native Quest 2 support. The GPU and CPU is too weak.

It doesn't say anywhere, these steamers are never thorough in their playing. In montecarlo and other snowy places the snow heap physics makes it quite stuttery in places. No clue about PS5, but not betting on improvements.

Q2 has a cpu and gpu on its own that in many cases surpass visual quality of same games on psvr hooked to a PS4. hooked to a pc is not fair to psvr

Still waiting on that camera adapter...

Sony really wants me to have a non-functional PSVR. And I just knew this scalping horseshit would start soon:

These are sold listings.

man that blows. its to the point now that i dont even consider getting any new console/gear until 6 months to a full year after launch bc of scalpers. there has to be a way sony and MS can combat this... no idea how tho

About right, Sony gives these away for free hell even the shippings free. And yet garbage people still try & scalp them. Least the only upside is they can't do it in a large amount as it needs the processor unit to get one and you can't order multiple.

I spent days trying to get the website to take my serial number. It wouldn't. So I called in just about a month ago. I have not received a single word from them since. I'm waiting for them to call back from the support line at the moment to probably tell me my case is "under review" or some nonsense.

edit- yep, I called it lol. The lady told me straight up that the case was in the system but hadn't made any progress yet.

Decided to buy the Iron Man bundle yesterday. Have everything hooked up, but only played a bit of GT Sport and Ace Combat 7 which was fantastic. Might try some Star Wars Squadrons later tonight too. I sent my info to get an adapter sent and hope it won't take too long. I'm also planning to take my PS4 and PSVR too my parents over the Holidays and let my dad have a go at it. I think he'll be amazed.

Now that I have the PSVR headset, I really wish I had a wheel for racing games and flight stick for flying. Would make it even better.

Super excited for Hitman VR and the Sniper Elite VR game in the works.

Only other experience was with the Gear VR that my phone came with. It was really only looking around at stuff.
Wait until you play one of those games that let you lean for cover, or take a step to get closer to stuf, those are the moments that made me go "woah" (Play Super Hot)... and that's not even full roomscale VR.

Yeah I'm excited for lots of other games I've seen. I have Super Hot, Farpoint, and Blood & Truth on my "need to get" list. I have Firewall with PS+ already, but want to get an AIM controller to play that.

did you notice Impulse Gear awakened from their 2-year slumber?

guessing a Farpoint update for PS5 and hopefully something better in the works, but hopefully not for dying psvr

It's been months since I've played any VR. I really wanna check out some things on the PS5, but I'm now at almost 7 weeks of waiting for that stupid adapter.

They specifically told me on the phone that my case hadn't moved and my only option is to keep waiting.

It’s a goddamn disgrace. I actually resubmitted it a second time. System accepted it, and eventually got amother it’s on its way email about a week ago now. Wtf?!?

Not even providing a tracking number is hilarious.

Damn I had my brother send over his serial number so I could try that out. It says his has already been used (and it has).

It told me mine had already been used when it hadn't, which started this whole mess. I think it's because they first linked to the EU portal for this before there was a US one. So I put my serial into the EU site, it accepted it, but then wouldn't allow me to pick a US address.

I can still go on that EU one, put my serial in, and have it tell me it's valid to this day. But the US one says it's already been used. So I think that fucked me over.

Population one will work quite nicely with 2 moves. Gun play is basic enough. And it runs on basically anything

Really good fun vr shooter
Moving as swiftly as one normally does with an analog stick will take some getting used to. For example to circle-strafe in No Man's Sky we have to hold the Move button, tilt the left wand to one side, and constantly feather the turn button (left or right depending where we're strafing) on the right wand. Couple that that with simultaneously having to move your right arm to aim, it's overcomplicated.
