We all know exactly where this threads headed but the reality is it's Resident Evil 3.

1. Completely turns the open non-linear aspect of the original game into what is basically a COD-style corridor shooter, the "puzzles" were jokes.

2. Removes entire chunks of gameplay from the original game and instead replaces it with a multiplayer game that was pretty much dead on arrival

3. Feels more like a platinum style action game with guns, not surprising considering it was made by a B-team of platinum developers who worked on MGS: Rising.

3a. Which wouldn't be a bad thing, but it would've been cool to have them reboot Maximo or something and instead just having the RE2:Remake team continue their work.

4. Criminally short, should've been 40 dollars on launch. If you were pretty skilled you could accidentally speed run the game on your first try as we saw with a lot of people.

5. All the upgrades from Nemesis could be gotten from 2 main encounters

6. We see Jill in a good form for the first time in 20 years and the return was quickly forgotten, also locking the original Riot Grrrl/Girl Power costume as pre-order DLC and resold later was a shit move and they knew it.

TLoU2 - Idk what they did that took so long. Sure, it looks gorgeous, but it plays just like any other game of its type. No wild AI advancements or anything, and they even cut out the MP.

To be honest I can't really think of anything else that is really bad that I bought. Haven't played enough Valhalla. I know Predator and Avengers are trash, so I didn't buy them.

I would LIKE to say Lez of Us 2, but the writing was on the wall for that one MONTHS before release that it was going to be absolute garbage compared to 1 so eh, not really a 'disappointment' in that sense. For me it'd have to be RE3R.

After how good RE2R was, I had expectations for 3... maybe, just maybe, Capcom would FINALLY do RE3 right and expand on it to make it what it could have been.... and what did we get? Half a game sold at full price with a bolt on multiplayer piece of garbage that absolutely nobody asked for or gives a shit about.

Tho that being said, I should have known better than to have any expectations at all from Crapcom.

Cyberpunk. It just came out too fucking late and I am disappointed I have to wait longer. I am slogging through AC:V and will then do the Fenix game on my second month of Ubisoft+ before pausing my sub for a long time ( have FC6 free). This means Cyberpunk will be something I play later in December, possibly January because I don't want to waste money.

AC:V gets a slight nod here too. I like it, but it is way too fucking big. There are like 3 big and 1 little DLCs in it in addition to the huge England game which is bigger than Odyssey. I do want to complete it, but I wish it was scaled down. It's unhealthy. Also Ubisoft Connect and AC are super buggy. I need to reboot often. Sometimes the game hangs and you cant re-run anything, including the client even after killing shit in task manager. Probably some copy protection BS.

Haven't played either but i was very disappointed with both Resident Evil 3 and Yakuza Like a Dragon (for various reasons each one) and that's why i haven't played them yet. I will get RE3 eventually at some point but i'm definitely skipping Yakuza LaD (the first Yakuza game i'm skipping ever since i started with Y2 12 years ago).

Project Cars 3.

Copy/Paste Project Cars 2 assets, somehow make it look a bit worse, remove sim elements, improve controller support but make wheel support worse. Great way to alienate the game's primary audience.

What an absolute joke Slightly Mad has become.

Automobilista 2 uses the same engine, but improves on Project Cars 2 in pretty much every way, falling more in-line with the original Project Cars vision.

Avengers and TLoU2 for me. TLoU2 still a good game but coming from Unharted and part 1 it dropped from a 10 to a 7 to me. Avengers here for obvious reasons.

Avenger absolutely, crystal dynamic was such a top tier developer....

I am fucking sick of every single virtual signaling TLOU2 and Druckmann's narcissism, but the gameplay was enjoyable, after all ND has best developers.

Avengers on PC was just so profoundly broken, and I had been in lockdown for a few months at that point, so I bought whatever the special edition was on Steam. Big mistake. My COVID lockdown-fogged brain let me down. It could have been such a great single player Avengers game, it's mind boggling that they went down the Destiny route.

Last Of Us 2 was kind of a bummer for me too. It's really beautiful to look at, but throughout most of it, I felt like I wasn't really playing a game - I was just kind of wandering between the next super woke cutscene, and staring at the scenery. I don't know why people like Druckmann don't just make movies if that's what they clearly want to be doing. To me, The Last Of Us 2 barely qualified as a game at all.

What time is it?
Spelunky 2 - The original art style wasn't the best especially the character designs, but the sequel ratchets it up a notch and looks like a cheap mobile knock-off.

I dont hate TLOU2, in fact from gameplay perspective its better than original game every way but its still heavy story game, from that perspective the story just didn't work for me same way the original game did.

Exact same feeling, I don't hate the story or actually hate what happened... i Just feel that story was not narrated properly and some parts were extremely weak. ...

still I was disappointed due to the fact that I WAITED so long for it....

I only played LOU 2 out of these. And the gameplay didn’t disappoint - but the story and the pacing did. Like half of the game were just cutscenes that didn’t feel totally like they meshed that well comparatively to the first one - which had a very simple straightforward story that it integrates into the gameplay very naturally. This one was just far far far too convoluted. Ellie’s half of the game dragged like a motherfucker for me for the most part. The Abby section was much better.

People keep saying Godfall was clearly a disappointment from a mile away and what-have-you... but... most the reasons TLOU 2 is considered disappointing were known months before it came out via leaks. I guess if you ignored the leaks you could be disappointed but most people who avoided them knew the word around the game had turned negative. So, my question would be who was disappointed by TLOU 2 from a GAMEPLAY perspective?

So people should be reading spoilers before they play games so that they won't be disappointed?

This advice is going to save me so much money!

No, but on this forum it felt like everyone knew what was coming, I'm just wondering how many people were honestly disappointed when they actually played it.

Surprised to se TLoU2 so hated. But it's probably people who never played the masterpiece which voted for it, because if you played it then you can't have any other opinion

/s again.

Yea TLOU2. I didn't try out any other game on the list because they all looked boring/shit. It's not terrible but disappointing considering the wait and how much I liked the first.

The game as a whole is great and I enjoyed it. How ND handled one of the game's core storylines left a lot of fans unfulfilled. I'd submit that the gameplay itself is rather formulaic and not that innovative and is not what makes the game great. In my opinion it's more the storyline, atmosphere and overall production value. If gameplay were the primary metric that's driving its popularity I double we'd see it up for all of these GOTY awards.

The game is an experience and worthy of the praise it's getting. But how they handled one of the main characters ruined the experience for a lot of people. I think the criticism of it is fair and I can see how that turned them off.

I see a lot of people voting Avenger. I’m just surprise that you can be disappointed by this games. It was quickly looking to be the worst of the GaaS you can produce.

I would say RE3 but I waited until it was $20 to buy it and had a decent run with it in one sitting I will not be replaying it like I did for RE2R.

TLOU2 was garbage IMO.

Waiting to see what CP2077 is like. Seems like it could be a disappointment.
