Cyberpunk 2077 currently looks really bad on PS5 (not a shitpost).

On PS5 it looks 1080p or even sub 1080p.
There's definitely something wrong with your display or settings.. im not that impressed with the graphics but they are overall fine to me and def look higher than 1080p. Im playing on PS5 and the only thing I had to do was manually set the gamma as the default was too high.

Sorry, but this is NOT as bad as Cyberpunk.

GTA 5 is around 27-28 frames, and it goes down to 25 with short dips in the low 20s during intense actions. It's poor, but it's not unplayable.

Cyberpunk on PS4 seems a couple of frames worse than GTA on average, but on XOne it stays at around 20 fps or barely above at its baseline, and during action sequences in the open world it has sustained dips down to 15 fps, even when basically nothing is happening on screen.

(timestamp at 0:30 if you are on mobile)

15-16 fps is almost twice as slow as 25-28, and due to how visual perception works it's not even a linear scale. The usually accepted threshold for perceiving continuous motion instead of a series of distinct pictures is somewhere between 16 and 24 fps. What I've seen of Cyberpunk on Xbox One is a janky slideshow 90% of the time, and it becomes almost unplayable when you start to fight or things start to move fast in the open world.

This is NOT acceptable for an AAA game, and is NOWHERE as bad as GTA 5 on old consoles.
And without ignoring the context, GTA V was 100% a PS360 era game that was later ported to consoles over a year later. Rockstar still managed to give you a sub-30fps jankfest despite only having consoles to worry about for a year.
CD Projek Red have try to bring a 3090 to its knees. I hope you can see the disconnect.

Back then, nobody paid attention to fps? lol, yeah right! I suppose that’s why Digital Foundry made all those comparison videos when it came out so no one would watch them because no one cared about the fps.
Fps and res were barely a talking point prior to the 8th gen. This is why you have GOATs like OOT running at 20fps, yet nobody batted an eye back then. It became huge when the 900p vs 1080p talk began and the 30fps vs 60fps war was on full swing, something that began with the launch of the PS4/Xbox One.
Hell, Halo games prior to Halo 5 were 30fps games with dips. Who wants to play a shooter at 30fps in this day and age, let alone one with a competitive scene such as Halo?

Yeah, this ain’t great on Ps5.

I have no idea about comparisons to other consoles or PC, but I’ve been playing for two hours and... oh boy... this game should not have been put out in this state.

Don‘t go from Ghost Of Tsushima to this, whatever you do. The comparison is horrifying.

Sorry, but CDPR have been stupid, greedy cunts with this game. It clearly needed more time.

Agree.

This is probably softest/blueriest game which I seen on Xbox One X....and I playing it on XSX, if that make sense.
hahahaha, tell another joke please.
His/her message is completely correct, I wrote exactly same thing Deus Ex included.

It turns out that Cyberpunk 2077 on PS5 does not have the "quality mode" that is available on Xbox Series X. That is to say, the game on PS5 runs in "performance mode" by default. On Xbox Series X you can switch between the two. Quality mode shoots for a high resolution, something approaching 4K and 30 frames per second, whereas performance mode aims for a smooth experience.

From Eurogamer.

Can you name that superior tech?
putting aside ray tracing And DLSS, look at how dense and vertically designed night city is. It’s night and day compared to RDR2, where the most dense any scene got is nothing compared to just the first market you come into.

they are not trying to the same thing.

Yes, due to the way BC is done, quality mode is apparently only on XSX, but quality mode is barely usable on this game anyway. On XSX, the framerate already tanks to 40s or even 30s in crowded areas in performance mode (see video with fps counter in this thread), so Performance mode should be mandatory here...

It's remarkably ugly on consoles. I'd expect the next gen patch to improve things, somewhat, but I wouldn't hold our collective breaths for a miracle given how taxing the game is on PCs to achieve good visual fidelity.

Without ray tracing is really not that bad. I expect the next gen consoles to run the game pretty much on ultra minux ray tracing

I’m willing to bet my Series X that the PS5 runs it better than XSX on performance mode.

So all the Nvidia PC exclusive tech which even next gen consoles won't be able to run. If you honestly think that's coming to your PS5, XSX then there's nothing more to discuss. Just check how RTX 30xx cards run it without DLSS. Not to mention RDNA2.

They might be able to but only with a dynamic resolution. Ultra is still very demanding from a rasterization point of view. It won't be native or it won't be 60.

Expect less than a 2060 super results with ray tracing on though.

Just picked up my Xbox copy from Wally and getting my PS4 copy from Amazon.

Gonna see.for myself how they run on the series x/ps5.

If it looks/runs like shit ill put them away until the next gen patch and play some other stuff.

Yes, and that's also what you could say watching streams and videos too. No reason it would be different than on other games like Valhalla. Slightly blurrier on XSX with framerate dropping a bit more than on PS5 when stressed. Still relatively similar and both look good in my opinion. Someone said both next gen versions are reconstructed from 1200p, with more drops to 1080p on XSX.

Only base last gen versions are more problematic, but that was expected.

Oh sure, the game definetly won't be running at 4k60fps on ps5.

But I see it getting to dynamic 60fps, and maybe 4k30fps.

Buyers please beware. It's seriously blurry on the ps5. I disabled chromatic film grain etc all that. Especially when driving it's like the resolution looks like drops so low. Idk wait for digital foundry they'll be on this for sure.

Bruh...WTF? This literally looks like a PS3 game.

I am not sure to what extent, but that's really my experience with XSX. Great game, but it's visually off-putting, even for game on Pro consoles, it should look better, Witcher 3 looked better, not that many object I understand that, but still.
You guys do realise that these new machines are running current gen version of the game in BC mode, right? Wait for nextgen patch.

Also, can we have 2min silence for those who playing Xbox one VCR, One S and Base PS4.

What "context"? Cyberpunk was announced in 2012, PS4 and Xbox One had not even been ANNOUNCED yet. And CDPR started active development in mid 2016, which was not even halfway through the generation. Ghost of Tsushima started development in late 2015, Assassin's Creed Valhalla in late 2017, just to give you a time frame.

Also, newsflash for you, there is no PS5 and Xbox Series X version of Cyberpunk either. This game only released on old gen consoles just like GTA 5 did, the newer consoles only happen to be able to play it through backwards compatibility, and since it costed them literally zero work (it's a line of code in the options file) CDPR changed the resolution output and frame rate cap for them. If PS5 and XSX were not backwards compatible, right now the game would be impossible to play on next gen consoles. The actual PS5 and Xbox Series versions will arrive some time in 2021.

If your point is supposed to be "the game exists on PC as well, so of course console versions will suck dick and be broken"... do you think that's a good excuse to release a broken product? How about if you plan to release the game on a certain platform, you make an attempt to make the game run acceptably on that platform? If you want to release on current consoles, the game has to run on current consoles. If you want to make it next-gen only to make better use of the latest PC technology, then make it next-gen only.

I'd wait for the full analysis from DF. PS4 version goes to 720p and 15fps😅

I've played it on the Series X for 8 hours so far and it looks great and its been pretty much smooth sailing. I had the screen freeze a couple of times for 3seconds and minor bugs like clipping but nothing wild or game breaking. Character models and the world look insane
Some people saying that Series X runs One X version in BC which runs at higher resolution than Pro. So you will get better image quality i think compared to PS5 version which is running Pro version.

No DF analysis to prove it though.

I mean the guys face looks like it hasn't loaded, but the background is what really stands out to me. It looks like 360 game with all the blur.

I started last night on my series X had a couple of slow loading textures in a montage, but that was about it. Everything has been fine for me graphically. Looks like a console game.

Ok so I played for an hour on PS5, Nomad path. Havent noticed a single dropped frame from 60fps which is nice but haven't reach any of the supposed heavy parts yet.

It's definitely 1080p though but the performance is great. HDR will need some tinkering but so far I'm impressed.

This reminds me of when Crysis 2 came out for consoles and PC, but worse.

360 version was like 720p with drops to 20fps and people were defending that.

Technically, they can run on AMD cards. Show me a console version with those features. Show me RDNA2 running this at even 30fps or with DLSS for that matter.

If you mean that the game looks good on ultra settings with Nvidia features, on Nvidia hardware then I can agree it looks good. I'm talking about how it looks on consoles in a console thread. And it looks nowhere as impressive as many are selling.

Glad I am not the only one who thinks game looks like shit and some people here calls me stupid. If someone would show me Ps5 footage and said it's base PS4 game I would say it looks okyish. The game on PS5 looks worse than GOW/GOT/RDR2/GTA5 ona a base model.

The problem with graphic is that there are so many weird artifacts, smear, blur and other weird thighs. The overall image quality is super low. It looks like some kind of very fucked up checkerboard rendering.

Nope. It looks like ass on Ps5, considering what the console is clearly capable of. I know it’s a BC PS4 game, but the hazy visuals and low resolution are pretty inexcusable. Nothing is crisp or well defined. Certainly Not in comparison to other BC games I’ve been playing.

This is easily the worst looking game Ive played on my Ps5 and CX so far.

And while Ive encountered no game breaking bugs, I have seen enough to break immersion several times.

This is far worse than Witcher 3.

Should have delayed another four months at least.

How did this ship?

Weird, I thought it looked more than fine on PS5 via the videos I've seen. Performance looked every solid. Hell, even then, it's not a true PS5 title just yet. So, it'll only look better with time. Hell, it'll look and perform better with time on every platform, surely.

How did this ship?
Visual B and C grade bugs won't hold back a game from certing and going gold/shipping. Plus the promise of a day 1 patch to fix bugs gives it a bit of a boost.

Yeah obviously that was just the texture failed to load.
But that vid looks pretty rough. He shows almost all indoor, dark footage until the end. Then he goes out into the city and its blurry and almost completely barren, with hitches.

Nah, I think they should have scrapped it on last-gen consoles altogether. They were pieces of crap in 2013 and are just worse in 2020.
