These Live prices don't scale with the price of the console they are attached to. This is REALLY going to hurt the value proposition of the Series S console. The Series S already had issues due to the fact that the digital PS5 was only $100 more, and unlike the Series S, offered a full next gen gaming experience. Now the Series S costs $60 more per year just to games online, and that's not even considering that its a whopping $120 more if a value gamer only plans to play free-to-play games online. The Series S simply makes zero sense to buy now.

A lot of people dont have these consoles yet, this might be pushing people who were on the fence towards getting a PS5. Especially if they are playing F2P games.

That poll doesn't have an option for people who have Xbox Live Gold but haven't upgraded to the Series X/S yet. Considering how hard it is to get a next gen console, that's most current Gold subscribers. Those people would rather jump ship to PlayStation than pay higher fees on Xbox to play online when they eventually get a next gen console.

The best games on PS4 are all in the PS Greatest Hits collection and can be bought for £7 every time they go on sale. That includes Bloodborne, Horizon, God of War, Ratchet and Clank, TLoU Remastered and Uncharted 4. Hardly a great advert to commit to spending £50 a year to rent them.
I love PlayStation, but let’s stick to the Gold price increase instead of a dick measuring contest over games. If you love PS so much go play the games instead of camping out in Xbox and Nintendo threads.

There has to be another shoe dropping. This must be some kind of merger with gamepass, maybe resulting in online play being free. I don’t know. But there’s no way they are doubling the price like this with no added benefits. Last time it went up $10. Now it’s $60? theres more here, there has to be.

Remember when people brought up concerns about how MS could afford to put all their AAA games on GamePass and Phil told us not to worry because MS had infinite money? Yea, Phil lied to y’all. You're right there's more, the more is that you're paying for Microsoft acquisitions because in the decades they've been a publisher they never managed to keep a developer alive so they keep spending billions to buy more. The most disgusting thing is that they announced that shit after the console released and millions wasted their money buying the console effectively locking themselves in that ripoff ecosystem. Game prices drop relatively quickly after launch. Depending how long you wait, you can essentially pay whatever you want to play a game. I can tell you right now that I'll only pay $70 for Horizon Zero Dawn 2 and God of War 2. I will get everything else either used or on a big sale.
Though Gold will go on sale, so will PSN+ so its a wash. In addition, unlike games, subscriptions never get old, so there is a lower bound to how much they will be discounted. Meanwhile games continually get cheaper, even to the point of being free for some games. The higher subscription price hurts more simply because there are fewer ways to avoid it.

I have both consoles. When my Gamepass runs out in July I won’t be subbing to it anymore and this will probably prevent me from purchasing the next Xbox console. This isn’t about money either because I make plenty. I already get nickel and dimed to death by Comcast, I’m sure as fuck not going to let Xbox do it to me when I don’t want Gamepass and only really want to play online with friends.

They did it to me dude. I already got the warning that I was at 75% so I just switched to unlimited. At least with video games I have a PS5 and a PC that I can just play instead but I’m stuck with Comcast where I live so that one I have no choice because I do work remote occasionally.

So they say live alone is $10/m, $120/y. GP is also $10/m, $120/y. If you're getting them separately, it'll cost you $240/y for both. BUT! If you get GP Ultimate, you "only" pay $15/m, $180/y, for both! There's your discount.
