Leaked off-screen trailer of Elden Ring is legit - but no one has a link

This was posted on era almost two years ago by omnipotent.

I know I’ve kept you all waiting since my first post in this thread and teased you plenty with my hype. You’ve been (mostly) patient and quite curious so here it is. I want to preface this by saying that these are my personal thoughts and opinions, to take that as you will. But I hope that this will hold you guys over until announcement and that it was worth the hype, waiting, teasing and jebaiting.

It’s difficult for me to even find where to begin. But I guess I should start by saying that I’ve been a fan for quite some time and love these games to bits, even if I love some more than others. But even in saying that, after playing through each game there are a number of things I’ve always wanted to see Fromsoft add or experiment with in terms of gameplay and world design. Things I figured would maybe show up once here or there. But with this title it feels like all of my wishes have been granted and then some. Pretty much everything I ever could have wanted them to add is here. Finding out about many of these things has been like being taken to a toy shop as a kid, expecting to pick one of your favorite toys out and then getting told you can have all of them. Any time I think about the game I just get so incredibly happy that it puts a smile on my face and I get a bright feeling inside. It’s like a certain kind of High that is just absolutely Fantastical for me. Which I’m sure might sound odd to some, but I can only hope that once you guys see and find out more you’ll share in my excitement

And quite honestly, I think a lot of people will. I love watching the silly videos people create and put up on Youtube doing wild stuff in these games and I can only begin to imagine what kind of wild stuff people will be able to put together with this title and its new systems and the many hours and journeys fans will spend immersing and fully projecting themselves into this world, playing the way they want to. Especially since this is easily From’s most immersive world yet filled to the brim with secrets and stuff From has never done before in multiple areas. I expect fans to have experiences of being drawn into eyecatching locales like a sailor drawn to a siren while other darker things roam, lurk, skulk and stalk just out of view. In a world that’s lathered with old school inspirations that would have D.b.weiss & David benioff taking up a whole Tabletop to draw its lifeline and heritage. And don’t worry, you’ll get plenty of weird, dark and bizzare things so typical of From here too.

I’m also aware that many of the communities that From has fostered over the past decade have felt left out by Sekiro. For those people I can say that you won’t be left behind here, and I don’t just mean that in terms of the existence of certain things like fashion, but also the abundance and creativity of what’s being offered here, perhaps moreso than in the past. Much of what you’d like and have come to expect is here.[/B] I’m sure plenty of people will love being able to show off their threads while battling alongside or against other warriors and scoundrels. Whether you’re a Social Cat Or Titan, this Land is yours to explore.

In addition to that for people who are more like me, people who like to explore and discover these worlds, lore hounds and solitary soldiers. You’ll have so much to dig into and search for, there’s plenty of Unearthed Knowledge for you to write your paragraphs of theories about. If you love level design and that’s one of your favorite things about these games as it is mine, then you’ve got nothing to fret about either. Interconnected design is larger and deeper than ever and archaeologists and spelunkers might just be in for their biggest playground yet.

To me, it feels like From is firing on all cylinders here and if you’ve enjoyed From’s recent output over the past decade and are open to New things then I feel like you’ll get exactly what you would want out of the project like this. It’s not just a side step off the beaten path(though there will be plenty of that), but a culmination of everything they’ve done and an evolution leading to a new beginning. And for the first time I really and truly don’t know what else I could want out of a game like this aside from just more. More of everything that’s being offered here. This is easily the biggest thing From has ever done, and to me feels like magnum opus material. I’m sure other people will still have their favorites, but for me, this is everything I could have asked for and more.

Though I should also mention that I think people expecting battles between lions, wolves, stags and giddorah’s might end up disappointed, there is no Feast for Crows here (Though for people grabbing their horned helms, gjallarhorn’s and carving runes into their shields may end up feasting on crows to say the least).
And remember, this journey doesn’t end with E3, this is only the beginning, so don’t expect to be fully satiated just yet. But I hope this hype train will carry us there, and back again, rain or shine. And trust me there is plenty more to discover and get excited over
wink.gif
. Fear not the feast my friends, for I have laid breadcrumbs a plenty, and let the hype begin.

So it's open world, kinda of like Ass Creed now? No longer metroidvania? At least thats what it looks like in the trailer with the horse riding and stuff. That's a huge bummer if yes.

those graphics dont look next gen at all.... Demon souls remake looks better... From becoming the new nintendo by doing the bare minimum to get by knowing people will buy it anyway?
Elden Ring seems to be an open world game. Demon's Souls is a closed corridor game.

IMO no one "deserves" to have something leaked. But the fact is the longer you go the bigger the chances are that it will happen.
¨deserves¨ when they are doing that for themself? people still naive thinking that it was leaked? in a sense it is a leak, but it is well controlled. tens of companies doing it.

Maybe it's a different kind of open world, smaller and with more substance than something bigger like the ubi games.

HD towns still hard for J devs huh.
I dont think so, I believe they can handle it well, actually this Elden Ring game looks like a WRPG even if i dont like using this outdated term.
There will be no towns or settlements populated by non-enemy characters, Miyazaki never said anything about a lack of NPCs. I'm sure there will be more than enough of those with secrets and complex questlines, as always in his games but taken to the next level.
I hope so, at the least, but it would have been a great change to spice things up with what i said, the dead grim world of Dark Souls and Bloodborne has had enough, its time for a change. Sekiro for example had a great setting, it felt more alive. I have no problem against dead open world but because it has been done before by him im hoping for a change, something like Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones level of world building. One can hope but after those confirmations i think its not going to happen, if open world so i thought why not make things more varied and interesting.
He's right, though. They could broaden their horizons and make more intractable, alive worlds. Otherwise why make it open? Most Souls games are pretty open world anyway, you have hubs and can literally travel their worlds...

On second thought, it's best we don't have fetch quests where you just kill things anyway.
Yeah, that reply by Vk4skunk was so defensive and frankly idiotic. I'm sorry.
Exactly, based on what we heard and based on what i and many others imagined this game is that it will be this open world game that has grand world building because GRMM wrote it, so it will be similar to GoT and LOTR style of worlds filled with interesting places to discover and towns to visit and npcs to meet, quests to take and activities to do, all that plus the combat and gameplay polish of Fromsoft. Based on the leak the combat looks exactly like Dark Souls with new addition like horse combat which frankly looks like Witcher 3 sword fighting on the horse. Also the Dragons look like Skyrim style, but who knows maybe its just first impressions. But as you said if its going to be open world why not take advantage of that? especially when you have a talented writer on your team like GRMM who knows how to make engaging plot and world building.
I'm hyped for the game and i love Fromsoft games so fanboys...please calm down :messenger_tears_of_joy:

FromSoft is not known for amazing graphics.
Maybe but their art direction is fantastic, you just need to take a quick look at Sekiro to appreciate the talented art direction of this game, the swords, the characters, the Japanese architecture and folklore, how they merge mythology and legends with their traditional Japanese setting and also add the beautiful environment. Its just world class. Quality of Graphics is not important imo. Assassins Creed Odyssey has better graphics than Witcher 3 but Witcher 3 looks better imo because the art direction is superior. (e.g Toussaint)

I don't think anyone seriously expects this game to raise the bar in terms of visuals once it's finally out, but bitching about the graphics in what appears to be a company internal trailer filmed off another screen at 240p is pushing it a bit, don't you think?

Its cross gen, what do u expect, even if was next gen only, xss would hold it back, we are never going to see games look as good as damon souls remake, thanks to ms, only hope is ps5 exclusives. Its a shame, but can we do, its done.

Supervising might just be giving OKs to designs. I remember Bloodborne leaking soon after the release of DS2, so I doubt he was heavily involved.
He said that he was not involved, but he said that as much as he disliked some things DkS2 as much as he liked some additions, so he chose Yui Tanimura to be co-director in Dark Souls 3.

Miyazaki was nobody before Demon Souls, and Yosp even admitted he didn't found Demon Souls great at first,

Miyazaki was the Director of one of the best Fromsoft games: Armored Core 4 and its sequel For Answer before working on the troubled project "Demon's Souls" and re-imagining it
but seems like Yosp was expecting something like Oblivion then he pissed off and said something bad about the game and the developers.

Please ban every idiot whining about the graphics

People in a From Software thread complaining that the graphics aren’t cutting edge are... probably not From fans?

Theyve never been known for their graphics. Just minor stuff like amazing, challenging gameplay, worldbuilding, atmosphere and lore.

FromSoft is not known for amazing graphics.

This looks like typical Fromsoft. Fine for me as long as the atmosphere, world and gameplay is there.
Yes. From has different priorities. They would rather devote time to fine-tuning a boss fight or tweaking the level designs just right than getting the nicest texture for door handles or perfecting LOD. They care about what really matters. This is what makes them gods. They know what makes a great game.

Yes there will be people bitching about the textures and the graphics and the frame rate being uneven. But it's like, as long as they are making games like Bloodborne the frames can hitch all they want.

It's like complaining about Michael Jordan wearing a wrinkly jersey while he air drunks from the free throw line.

The giants have the same faces as in Dark Souls 2.

The "tragic thing" has armor which is extremely similar to the "Sellsword Set" from Dark Souls 3.

The female caster has something very similar to the "Black Witch Set's" hat from Dark Souls 2, and the spell is pretty much "Homing Soulmass."

The guy with the flail is wearing armor that looks awfully close to Gael's cape and hat.

solairevhk23.png

This is definitely Solaire, right?

And there's a LOT more similarities.

I'm not complaining, of course, but I didn't think this game was going to be part of the Souls series?

that vetter leaker from Era is actively commenting on the subject:

- everything confirmed to be from an old work in progress material for Bamco internal use only, leaked about a week ago
- STEALTH: crouch, as seen in the footage + visibility mechanic, dependent on apparently dynamic the time of day and weather
- jump button but not as over the top and useful in combat as in sekiro, more of a "hop" for traversal
- character creator and start classes
- pvp / pve

BTW, for reference, this is the "leak" that surfaced a month before Dark Souls 3 was announced and shown on E3 2015.
Speaks about a number of cut features and mechanics absent from the game by that time, later datamined to be in fact present in the code but not fully developed and implemented.

So let's keep in mind this is old material. I just hope we'll see the game soon and learn what it really is.

At this point I have no idea why wouldn't they quickly release real 4k trailer to combat the bad looking trailer.

If there's no towns then he must have made GRMM write a story where the world is kinda dead I guess? Just warriors roaming the lands.

I'm fine with no towns. I don't think it's their strong suit and it's probably something they avoid making for a reason. Dragon's Dogma 2 will scratch that itch anyways.

Oh I hope we get more info soon. This looks neat, but it's hard to say what the gameplay will be like (though I'm happy to see a return of Souls combat).

That tree of life tho...
