I'd say if MS says the games are not exclusive we will have massive Xbox fan meltdown on Twitter. Christ they are already practically threatening Phil now, just wait if they announce the games will come to all platforms. Fucking lunatics. If the games are exclusive there will be meltdowns
If the games are not exclusive there will be meltdowns
Im excited for both scenarios
It should be obvious. I don't like to go to this well, but if Sony or Nintendo had made this purchase it would be absolutely obvious. My favorite will be the people who try to claim it was "obvious" what they were going to do either way. As if there really is a clear answer in any capacity.
Yup, exactly. It should be obvious. I don't like to go to this well, but if Sony or Nintendo had made this purchase it would be absolutely obvious.
The issue is poor communication, a lack of firm direction from Xbox, and meme-level sharing of out of context interviews.
All those things are absolutely faults with Microsoft's delivery of this acquisition.
Everything being exclusive will not be a major surprise to anybody with half a brain. The fact it's not a foregone conclusion is because of the issues Xbox has controlling its image.

I think at this point most expect some sort of exclusive deal because it would be pretty dumb of MS to not lock them in... but MS just did try to double the price of Gold so we know they are still capable of making bad decisions even under God Phil.
MS could clear it up right now if they wanted, the fact they are being so cagey about it means there are internal debates still ongoing.I wouldn't expect too much clarity. They love trumpeting exclusivity but later quietly mention its just "launch exclusivity".
They will push exclusivity hard on the PR side, but I'd wait a while before thinking the whole picture is clear and the matter settled.

The deal is just closing, maybe give it a few days?MS could clear it up right now if they wanted, the fact they are being so cagey about it means there are internal debates still ongoing.
Surely you don't believe this, what an absurd statement. This whole business was decided before they even put an opening bid in of any kind, the whole purchase would have needed a business case to allow the board to make a decision on go/no go. They didn't just think:MS could clear it up right now if they wanted, the fact they are being so cagey about it means there are internal debates still ongoing.

That's obviously not what I'm saying.I know! They should have shared information they legally weren't allowed to have yet! Facing jail time and causing the deal to fall through is nothing compared to the fefes of a Gaffer being hurt!
It's very obvious imo. The heavy hitters will be exclusive. Some smaller games or games where being multiplatform just makes sense (see Minecraft) will be on Playstation. There, I solved the mystery.
Exactly. The wording they have used indicates that they are not planning on holding games back from selling on other platforms. "First or best" is all but admitting the games will be multiplat. The answer was given by Xbox managers, there's no mystery : "games will be first or best on Xbox", which means for the most part, they'll be available elsewhere, maybe later though. You can't be first if there's no second.
Is it really that obvious? I would say that all the signs actually point to them keeping the games as multiplats, I’m just going by the case by case and first or best comments. It should be obvious. I hope the games are not exclusive. Very happy to see Bethesda games day one on Gamepass but I hope they do not lock off so many great franchises, even if it might be on my preferred console.Looks like the exclusive question will be answered soon.
They won't be exclusive. They will be on PC. Everyone knows that all users on this site have a 3090GTX with 48GB RAM and i10 processor with water cooling.I hope the games are not exclusive. Very happy to see Bethesda games day one on Gamepass but I hope they do not lock off so many great franchises, even if it might be on my preferred console.
I think they mean obvious that if this were Nintendo or Sony it wouldn't even be a conversation, the games would be exclusive. Is it really that obvious?

Maybe the established IPs remain multiplat or a timed exclusivity, but the new IPs should be exclusive is the only way to boost the sell of suscriptions and consolesI hope the games are not exclusive. The salt is going to be immense, though. So many people are convinced MS will sacrifice billions of dollars in sales for GP.
100 per cent.Is it really that obvious? I would say that all the signs actually point to them keeping the games as multiplats, I’m just going by the case by case and first or best comments.
I don’t get their thinking there though. They finally have a proper game advantage that would kill the ”Xbox has no games it’s just Halo,Forza,Gears” meme at once, but they’ll probably waste it to not piss off the fans on the competitor’s platform.
“What we’ll do in the long run is we don’t have intentions of just pulling all of Bethesda content out of Sony or Nintendo or otherwise,”
He's saying, in the most mealy mouthed way possible, "you'll still be able to buy Fallout 4 on PlayStation, but it's gonna be at 60fps on Xbox".“But what we want is we want that content, in the long run, to be either first or better or best or pick your differentiated experience, on our platforms. We will want Bethesda content to show up the best as — on our platforms. “Yes. That’s not a point about being exclusive. That’s not a point about we’re being — adjusting timing or content or road map. But if you think about something like Game Pass, if it shows up best in Game Pass, that’s what we want to see, and we want to drive our Game Pass subscriber base through that Bethesda pipeline.
That is fair from a business perspective, but I dont care about that side as much lol gaming is divided enough by console wars and other BS.Maybe the established IPs remain multiplat or a timed exclusivity, but the new IPs should be exclusive is the only way to boost the sell of suscriptions and consoles
"games will be first or best on Xbox"
I don't see the word "exclusive" in that statement. In fact both "first" and "best" indicates that games WILL be coming to other platforms, if "second" and "in lesser quality".
If you go by their literal words they are already admitting the games will be multiplat.
But Xbox stans:
Yes, and that's dumb. MS ultimately wants to make Game Pass very profitable. Corporations aren't your friends. They want your money, as much money as possible. Game Pass is just in first phase. The end game is mostly low value games with a few higher budget outliers, and higher subscription price. Look at any other subscription model evolution to read the future.

I really really hope you don't have your own business, it would go bust in a matter of weeksYes, and that's dumb. MS ultimately wants to make Game Pass very profitable. I’ll just sigh and go like this:mf like me going full-blown crapgamer if those games arent exclusive
So Zenimax is officially "garbage anyway" and Wolfenstein, Doom, Fallout, and Skyrim were "never any good" either.
I'd have the imagine the ultimate goal is to make Gamepass available on all consoles, including Sony and Nintendo. While it might seem like thay are sacrificing subscriptions by releasing multiplatform, in reality they are trying to expand the potential subscriber base, imo.Yeah that’s obvious. Why isn’t it obvious for MS though?
How exactly are they planning to get 100 mil PS4 gamers to consider investing in a Xbox Series X instead of PS5?
They don’t even have a performance advantage right now.
And no big 1st party games.
How will they convince someone to swap?
I don’t get it.
I mean why do they think someone like me who only have XSX and PC will buy a PS5?
To get a fast SSD or vibrator controller?
No, it’s all about the exclusives. I’ll buy one to play Horizon Forbidden West, God of War Ragnarök and GT7. I’m just waiting for a bigger SSD. If those games would come to XSX I wouldn’t buy a PS5. Simple as that. And I assume PS gamers are thinking the same way, they’re probably waiting on the official plan for Bethesda’s games just to know if they need to buy a Xbox or not.
how would they grow the xbox brand name tho?I'd have the imagine the ultimate goal is to make Gamepass available on all consoles, including Sony and Nintendo. While it might seem like thay are sacrificing subscriptions by releasing multiplatform, in reality they are trying to expand the potential subscriber base, imo.
Microsoft doesn't care about gamers switching consoles, they want to come to gamers. I have no idea how possible that might be on the Switch or PS5 but that would be the best way to increase the amount of potential subscribers.
Gamepass will not be able to grow long term if it is only available on PC or Xbox, the Xbox brand name is not strong enough to support it alone.
Exactly, that is proper agency theory and aligns all the goals.Again I’ll say it one last time. If you want to profit from a company you don’t take their cost onto your books. The cost for devs. Electrical bill etc. you leave that with them. You buy up to 51% a controlling stake and you allow them to operate as an individual entity. When you want to have control over IP etc you have to purchase them outright and that will allow you to claim exclusive content for yourself.
Why not start releasing Gears, Halo, Forza, Fable on PS5 too then? Then we can skip Xbox all together and just have PS5 YAY!I'd have the imagine the ultimate goal is to make Gamepass available on all consoles, including Sony and Nintendo. While it might seem like thay are sacrificing subscriptions by releasing multiplatform, in reality they are trying to expand the potential subscriber base, imo.
