Only Microsoft knows what they will do.

And TBH, they probably don't know outright yet either.

Maybe it'll be a mix, not drawn on any lines.... maybe some studios will push hard for multiplat and MS will say yes.. maybe every game past this year will be exclusive, maybe some big games but not others, etc.,etc.

This is vague and nothing can be said for either side of the argument.

By some exclusive to Xbox and PC, he could be referring to games not out yet that already have deals in place. Deathloop, Ghostwire, etc. It could also mean games far into development.

Of course, by some exclusive to Xbox and PC, he could also be referring to those same games listed above and be implying that after those games, everything will be Xbox/PC exclusive.

Or, he could simply be saying some are exclusive because they plan to make some multiplats.

MS also says Xbox and PC will be the best place to play Bethesda titles, not the only place. To me, that says a lot more than “some exclusive”.

Seems pretty concrete that Bethesda games will continue to release on Playstation, just a matter of in what capacity. Personally I’d rather MS just have them focus on PC and Xbox and make the best games possible, but I can understand wants to make more money.

Yes Sony does in fact believe in generations

www.gamesindustry.biz/amp/2020-11-06-playstation-5-critical-consensus

You fanboys took it to only mean games. It’s the whole console.

Nice try. That's exactly what you guys kept quoting for ammunition in your console wars when ms announced continued support for Xbox one lol. Didn't pan out so well tho.

OT: Vague statement is vague and could be interpreted in multiple ways. But that's exactly what they were going for. The question won't be answered any time soon.

Starfield has been in development for 5 years. There’s obviously a PlayStation version up and running.

Unless Bethesda decided to cancel that version because of MS. Which would be dumb.

"Some" lol even pointless to discuss such a vague statement.

You yesterday...

Exactly. The wording they have used indicates that they are not planning on holding games back from selling on other platforms. "First or best" is all but admitting the games will be multiplat.

The salt is going to be immense, though. So many people are convinced MS will sacrifice billions of dollars in sales for GP.

"games will be first or best on Xbox"

I don't see the word "exclusive" in that statement. In fact both "first" and "best" indicates that games WILL be coming to other platforms, if "second" and "in lesser quality".

If you go by their literal words they are already admitting the games will be multiplat.

But Xbox stans:

I know he's a stupid idiot, but this is what I mean when I say shit PR.

I really doubt some 7k follower nobody on Twitter is going to move the needle.

And if MS really plans to not make everything exclusive; why would it be bad PR to indicate.. that some games won't be?

They'll get more specific, likely somewhat soon.. with actual game announcements.

lol you do realize that this means the biggest titles WONT be exclusive.

it will be smaller shit like Death Loop because they can afford to make them exclusive.

This literally means the opposite.

Lmao, exactly.

They are in denial stage, give them time. Soon it’ll sink in, when in English language one says “some” it actually means some and not some==all.

Classic example being when majority of PS4 titles were BC on PS5 continued to mean to these folks “Top 100” for a very very long period of time.

Stages of bargaining and acceptance beckons in the future.

Sounds like already contracted games. Literally sounded the same when they purchased the last number of studios. Xbox heads are terrible at talking.

Honestly I hope all the games are released on everything right down to Samsung fridges ... I gain absolutely nothing because a game can't be played on another person's toy.

I'm just excited that all those games and future games will be day 1 on gamepass. It's mind boggling how monsterous gamepass is for gamers.

i was just thinking the same thing..no way Microsoft will mess up their money but not keeping certain ones multi..new IP's will def be Xbox and PC exclusive tho
It just makes sense (to me) -- you get the games "free" on Gamepass, and throw in some extra shit (skins, cosmetic items, etc) -- but say "hey, it's still $70 on playstation / switch / whatever" -- For people who those games are the main focus of their gaming habbits, they'll naturally gravitate towards Xbox. maybe not this gen (if they already have a PS5) -- but in the future. Or if they don't, maybe that tips the scales ever so slightly.

But what do I know, I'm an idiot, and not in the business of running a video game company.

This comment makes me more convinced that all the big hitters are going to be multiplat.

Phil wouldn't be able to stop himself from shouting it from the rooftops if TES, Starfield, Fallout etc were going to be Xbox exclusive. It would make sense as it would shift a few Xboxs.

I'm not that bothered either way, Bethesda was a company in decline for years and I don't play their janky games

Don't worry PS fans, you will get to keep your Fallout 76 and ESO on the PS ecosystem.

Maybe once the heavy hitters start being shown Sony will offer to trade hmm i dunno... Ratchet series? HZD series?

Flashless at the Golden Globes
Xbox with the backing of Nadella and and one of the 3 richest companies in the world can afford to do anything they want. If they wanted to buy Sony with their lunch money, it would be no problem.
I agree with all that.

But they just bought zenimax and wont even commit to making all games exclusives so what does that tell you?

P.S They couldve easily bought Nintendo, Ubisoft, Sony and EA over the last 20 years. They didnt.

PS stans: "This means TES6, Starfield and Fallout will be multiplat and MMO will be exclusive"
Xbox stans: "This means MMO will be multiplat and TES6, Starfield and Fallout will be exclusive"

They know what they are doing with that wording

LOL did you even read the article accumulating all the reviews of PS5?

PS5 feel next generation.....Xbox does not. Why do you think that is?

Games
Console
UI
Controller

And many other things.

MS kept everything the same including not having ANY exclusives launching with the console. Hence the SX feels the same as XB1 just more powerful.

So yes Sony does if fact believe in generations and the PS5 proves that.

I don't think its vague at all.

Do you think they are going to say Bethesda will be fully exclusive from now? They are still making Doom 3 PSVR, Ghostwire and Deathloop. And lord knows what else they have that was signed as multiplatform long ago (Indiana Jones?).
Well they could possibly make a press release clarifying the position of all already announced games. It's not like they don't know where to publish games in the production and strategic pipeline for years. We are not entitled to know things and that's totally fine, but that's exactly the definition of vague.

The fact that he isn’t coming out and saying clearly “everything going forward will be exclusive” says it all really. I’m also guessing time exclusivity will be a thing. But those big titles I’m guessing will release on PS5. It’s too big a market to ignore.

ERA and GAF thought it was 'obvious' that Bethesda games would become Xbox exclusive. I said most games would be multiplat, even unannounced ones. And this statement tells everything really.
It changes literally nothing.. and no, it does not say most games would be multiplat. Most games could be exclusive and this statement doesn't change that.. or most games could be multi-plat.

It changes nothing but some new words for people to claim mean their "prediction" was right lol

Hilarious. Spencer gives a vague answer which actually confirms Bethesda games will be coming to PS ecosystem and fanboys start celebrating with crazy speculation and crusty memes. Imagine that level of thirst.

"Some", titles which are new IP and don't have history on consoles.

I'm sure this was already explained, when the news of the purchase broke.

Doom, Fallout, Elder Scrolls will continue to be on various formats.

"Some"

I still think the heavy hitters will be multi-plat.

These are the least likely to be multiplatform.
The only thing I can see Playstation getting beyond what's already announced/agreed to go there are any small budget, indie-esque projects that might need broader reach to be successful and maybe any future MMO's.

Putting heavy hitters like TES6 on PS5 will not help the Xbox brand or GamePass grow. PS5 owners have no reason to get a Xbox and GP if they can get TES6 for $70 on PS5. If Xbox wants to make that $49 from PS then they might as well put Halo, Forza and Gears on PS5 right now.

Did the word "some" change meaning to mean the same thing as the word "all".

Lol GP cultists living in a fantasy land making up new word definitions now.

This is simple. Read the word "some" and tell me what it means. I'll wait.
But you weren’t arguing that some games would be exclusive; you were arguing that none of them would be exclusive.

Read your own posts, that I even quoted for you. You want to lecture people on the use of the English language when you’ll make such sweeping and definitive statements as;

they are not planning on holding games back from selling on other platforms. "First or best" is all but admitting the games will be multiplat.

Read; holding games, admitting the games (not some games, the games).

games WILL be coming to other platforms, if "second" and "in lesser quality".

If you go by their literal words they are already admitting the games will be multiplat.

Games will, games will be multiplat - again, pretty definitive statements.

You’re the only one with fingers in your ears you sad little child.

Good. That will help them get people into their ecosystem. Nice move Microsoft. What did people except when they spent that huge amount of cash. Did people react when FF16 was announced as PS5 exclusive.
Now the war is on.
FF16 vs Elder Scrolls vs Pokemon
i wonder which will sell more?
Generation is looking good.
You guys were saying xbox needs exclusive, now they have so much salty people in here. lol
Now xbox is a WRPG and FPS powerhouse.
Sony PlayStation TPS movie games powerhouse
Nintendo everything else.
FFXVI is a timed exclusive it will be coming to PC at some point

Some games will release on other platforms, absolutely.

That statement means Elder Scrolls Online and other games of it's type will continue to release on all platforms. It means perhaps games that are already well into development on other platforms like Doom PSVR will not get shit-canned. It also means mobile games will continue to release on mobile from the mobile studios acquired with Bethesda.

They know what they are doing with that wording

Exactly. It’s wording confused on purpose.

If MS had ALL Bethesda single player games fully exclusive they would let it be known in this very statement bragging about Bethesda joining Xbox.

I mean doing this is simple-

“Starting today games like Starfield and Elder Scrolls 6 will be Xbox/PC exclusives with day one gamepass availability”

But no, all we get is “some”

These are the dudes who are going to be really smug insisting that TES VI plays fine on PS5 Pro, and try to put the disk of the SXXX version, which of course doesn't even work because not only is it exclusive, Sony went all digital.

He certainly did thread the needle. We are all going to read it however we read it, but my take is that the biggest games will not be permanent exclusives. These are the quotes that lead me to believe that:

"Xbox consoles, PC, and Game Pass will be the best place to experience new Bethesda games"

"including some new titles in the future that will be exclusive to Xbox and PC players."

"it’s vitally important that Bethesda continues making games the way it always has."

"We look forward to empowering Bethesda’s creative teams to reach even more players around the world, helping make future Bethesda titles the biggest and most popular games in their history"

"Thank you to all our players for joining us on this incredible journey and to the millions of Bethesda fans around the world. Now that we’re one team,"

"We will have more to share about what’s next for our teams later this year"

To me the conclusion is obvious considering that such statements are carefully crafted and vetted before publication. They did a great job of giving existing customers and potential new customers reason to be excited. But they left themselves a huge safe zone against any backlash in the future from people who want them exclusive, because they publicly committing to nothing more than some games will be exclusive. And what they did not say comes across very loud to me. And what they did not say was that any game which is not contractually obligated to the contrary, will be exclusive. If they wanted to sell maximum consoles based on an intended exclusivity, there would be no better time to announce that than before people decide which console to buy. I could be wrong, but it seems obvious to me right now.

There is so much salt. Why is anyone surprised that MS would use an acquisition like this to finally bolster its first party offerings which people have been complaining about for years? You don't just spend $7.5 billion to get the ability to publish games on your competitors' platforms.

MS also says Xbox and PC will be the best place to play Bethesda titles, not the only place. To me, that says a lot more than “some exclusive”.

do you really believe that MS would remove already released games from other platforms? Like people bought doom Elternal last year and can’t play the Games anymore?
You can still play the old Bethesda games on other platforms of course. No matter what happens!
But those old games will play best on Xbox, e.g. fallout will get double the FPS soon.
