there was absolutely no reason for TLOU2 to be that long. 30 hours is insane. I always thought Mass Effect 2's 20 hour campaign was just right. You could extend it to 30 hours if you did all the quests, but if you wanted replay value, you had to replay the game. the combat and classes were diverse enough to keep you playing and different choices also kept things interesting on new playthroughs. However, keeping the campaign around 20 hours (with loyalty missions) was an excellent decision. It allowed them to finish the game in 2 years and kept it from feeling bloated or unpolished.

GoW is another game that didnt need to be 30 hours long. They had enough side content in there to keep you playing for another 10-15 hours after the campaign ended. so they shouldve just done a 20 hour campaign with 10-15 hours of additional content and NG+. Thats it. launch the game in 1/3rd the amount of time they took to make the game.

What they need to do is make NG+ and replays more rewarding and fun. Encourage people to replay games with new abilities, armor or even bosses. Just making them longer is actually hurting them because these games end up taking way too long to make.

I disagree about gow, the problem isn't a game being 30 hours, a game can be 60 or even 200 hours and that's fine, like Skyrim or TW3. The thing is when it's unnecessary 30 hours, gow is a masterpice and there is absolutely nothing in the game that i would like to change or remove. But for TLOU2 there are some great moments, but there were some that weren't that great, so many moment where you just walk and do nothing else.

Uncharted 4 has a bit of that too, i loved the game, tho the starting is so slow, that it's the only Uncharted i have never replayed.

This is all well n good. But we havent seen any momentum yet. Some claimed the momentum started when the One X launched. That didnt really pan out.

We need to actually see momentum to say there's momentum.

Maybe what you mean is mindshare, good will? I'm not sure what to even call it.

MS also rebooted Windows Mobile twice....and look how that ended up. Thats why ppl need to wait before claiming seeing any momentum.
lol yep. What momentum? Just launching the most powerful and least powerful console isnt momentum. If that was the case then x1x wouldve started that momentum like you said.

The fact of the matter is that they havent produced a GOTY contender in over a decade. Mass Effect 2 was the last truly great AAA xbox exclusive to win GOTYs. Their first party havent won anything since like Halo 3 and Gears 1 dating back to 2006 and 2007. I would say they need to produce at least two GOTY contenders in two consecutive years to say they now have momentum.

I dont disagree that they will eventually have momentum. Starfield and Elder Scrolls are bound to be goty contenders when they come out. Same with the next Doom. But right now? I just dont see it. I think if Starfield comes out this year and Halo ends up delivering, they will have two GOTY contenders and thats when you can say the tide has turned. Then hopefully next year they will have some more AAA games like Avowed, Fable and Perfect Dark and we can finally say the momentum is with xbox now. The future is bright but im not seeing any momentum.

One way they can claim some mindshare from Sony is by having a kickass E3 conference. Not that CGi fest trash they had last year or even the cinematic trailer heavy show Sony went with. I want to be blown away by new games. I think part of the reason people arent excited about the Bethesda acquisition is because we havent seen what Starfield looks like. We dont know if its amazing. If it revolutionizes Space RPGs. Same goes with elder scrolls. I want to see what next gen Skyrim looks and plays like. What will the new CPU bring to Skyrim? Or Fable for that matter? What is Avowed doing that is so incredible that I should throw my ps5 to the curb and buy an xsx? Is Perfect Dark going to make Uncharted 4 look like Outriders?

Both Sony and MS are guilty of this tbh. We have been shown absolutely fucking nothing when it comes to next gen and are told to be excited for next gen or new studio acquisitions, gamepass and in GOW2's case just a promise of things to come. I just cant be excited about games that may or may not come in 2023 and 2024, that may or may not have any new next gen gameplay.

Id say neither side has momentum.

AC Origins and Odyssey didn't have much jank at all.

Tbh, I can't say I've experienced much jank in a AC since the very first one.

How are you defining Jank?

Can only speak for Assassins Creed Valhalla

It's the general buggyness of the game, the animations (especially combat, which is janky itself) are just off putting and the AI

Thinking about it - Sony had those 2 exclusives, Fallout as part of the PS collection and rumours of other stuff.

Seems Zeni were pimping themselves hard - I wonder if they wanted to be bought but Sony weren’t going that far and just funded some development instead.

MS was the next phone call and here we are.
I believe zeni went to Sony first. It falls in line with the rumors of their next ip. Sony probly wasn't interested in their portfolio and passed.

That's why I don't understand the deal currently because they would get the games regardless. They lose out on potential sales by keeping it on Xbox because already the PS5 is out selling their system so what's the point? I almost feel like MS looks at their acquisitions as "we got you now but if your ip don't get enough downloads we will cancel you".

Roblox Is Now Worth More Than Ubisoft and Take-Two Combined

That huge valuation comes thanks to Roblox the company (which makes Roblox the game) going public last week via direct listing, and impressing investors enough to reach a first-day valuation of $45 billion. That's a lot of money, more than Fortnite maker Epic Games was worth last anyone checked ($17.5 billion in August of last year), and a whole lot more than many other companies whose names you hear more often.

"Business is business".

But he fails to see his own hyprocisy (which is actually very common) that the IP rights holder is allowed to do anything they want with the IP, so if they decided to take the cash and approve the timed exclusivity. How is that any different? 'Business is business' after all.

At least with timed exclusive the game will be accessible to all eventually.

But apparently this is far worse and anti consumer. :messenger_tears_of_joy:
He has MS stock. Gotta lie on this forum just like daddy phil been lyin to all their fans.
It's not exactly hard to search in this place dude. But I'm afraid you did..

Certainly were defending Kinect hard back then!

Never going to drop it, how did that prediction work out? :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Didn't even see the issue with the price hike.

So.. 2 for 2. :messenger_clapping:

What do you think the money for timed exclusivity is used for? Is that not going to be money that is reinvested into the company? Or cover development costs?

Your argument is truly pitiful. Just because you want to defend Microsoft, anything they do, is all ok. Sad.
If that’s not a beatdown, I don’t know what is.

Undertale comes finally to Xbox 3,5 years after the first console release and over 5 years after PC release...

Better late than never I guess

Dope. Maybe I'll replay it (played through it on the Switch already). It's short and I had the feeling I missed several "secrets".

TBH me too... I really asked myself, why they didnt released it much earlier.

Afaik last year it was on Gamepass PC for serveral months.

I really hope that the praises the game received are true, because somehow I managed to avoid nearly all spoilers for it and now want to try it out 😅

Klobrille lol, but I do like his fan-made art work though, pretty cool stuff.

Honestly I've seen it from both sides. I see pages dedicated to doing PR for PS5 and it's super cringe. They're not even getting a penny to promote their favourite corporation, it's sad. Although I'm not negating people who do artwork for upcoming or current games.
Resolution doesn't matter until Xbox is not involved. Please understood .
I was going to say something similar, DF's narrative will changing depending on what happens with Xbox. Seen it a few times already.

Let him rejoice, that's the only new console he could put his hands on.

No thanks. I would rather Sony developers and executives focus on continuing to release top tier PS games instead talking so damn much and doing PR talk. I like quite Sony. When they’re ready to show and tell it makes it that much better.

That’s the problem with MS, they do a lot of talking and showing off and the end results almost never match the hype. This is the exact thing Xbox fans do. Brag, brag, brag, brag. Then they end up getting mocked. As I always say about Xbox......All hype no substance.

It become AAA the moment they announced it to Gamepass :messenger_fire:
Before that nobody said in this forum it was AAA.
That is how things works here lol
Yup, it sure did.
Before Gamepass = Game looks like trash, ps3 graphics
After Gamepass Day 1 announcement = AAA game, can't wait!

I'm really curious how Sony is going to answer for Game Pass as it continues to build momentum. I know right now PS5 is taking the sales lead but all Xbox needs is a few new key titles on Day One for Game Pass and those tides will start to turn. I feel like online discourse has already fully turned very positive for Xbox and I fully expect sales to show signs of this soon.

$70 for Ratchet and Clank or Returnal or whatever, no matter how good it looks, is a tough fucking purchase beside a service like Game Pass. There is no way in hell the "$70 game" survives this gen. Maybe GTA6 can sell at that but we are going to see a generation of bombs if every game stays that high.
You know the majority of new games isn't released on Gamepass day one, don't you? Service is around since 2017, but NOW is the time 'the tides will turn'... 🤷‍♂️

I bet you were enraged when Street Fighter V and FF 7 Remake were blocked from Xbox. Enraged I tells ya! On the positive I'm pretty sure MS's move with Zenimax IS an investment since they are now a MS first party studio.

Sony paid for the development costs. So.. like.. why.. would it be on Xbox?

If the IP holder thinks it's a good deal, it's upto them. Blame Capcom.

You have difficulty understanding very simple concepts, can you next time argue something that makes an iota of sense.

I just can't get over the fact that Series S is playing my favourite games (The Division 2 and Fallout 4) at 60FPS and I have access to Fight Night (one of my fav 360 games).
The menu's, game loading (switching) is buttery smooth.
There's fuckall noise from the console. I genuinely have not heard this thing actually run since I got it. You hit the Xbox button and its on in a sec.
I'm switching between games in seconds. Hop in, hop out. Hope here and there without hiccups.
I am fucking LOVING THIS.

Everytime I reach over to pick up this contoller

Xboxes are still available after +10 hours. Both versions of PS5 of course were sold out. What's happening with Xbox? Scalpers already have full warehouses? :D

sorry to butt in but huh... FF isnt a new IP... and you think MS bought these devs and will require them to pay to make their own games?

First of all, these 2 games were NEVER announced as multiplatform titles. So, you can't say at all they were blocked from Xbox. Rise Of The Tomb Raider was announced as multiplatform title on blog of Phil Rogers ( CEO of SQE Europe/America) 8 years ago

PS5 is still selling out in mere seconds, under a minute when stock is available to USA. Although anyone looking should know they've been dropping for four days straight.

Usually they'll sell out and then add more about 5 to 10 minutes later.
