I know that artifact are present with CBR, I was mainly speaking the resolution he found. We can directly see for example that the overall resolution is higher on PS5 than XsS (but under XsX) as shown in rounded blue part, but the X axes resolution is lower as shown in the rounded red part and the artifacts from CBR, that's why I think he was not bullshitting about the resolution he reported. Now, if that's a bug or dev choice, we don't know. The thing that's surprise me the most is that DF never speak about this resolution in their video.

Thats a considerable difference in resolution on the PS5 compared to XSX, this needs an explanation. 🤔🤦‍♂️

I think it's fine that they have more female lead characters in games...I've read a LOT of people on forums that aren't so happy. I mean, I get it. I don't want ANY specific character shoehorned into a game just to score social justice points, for example. BUT, I do feel that unless the story of a game is very specifically tailored for a certain character identity that you should be able to PICK the character. Like Nioh 2, or Demon's Souls Remake for example. You can be male, female and even something in between if you wish and the game still works as well as the story. Ok, maybe something like Days Gone needed to be that specific character and not let you create your own. Even then, we have the technology now. Could have had Days Gone and sure it's a biker guy but you could pick the black biker guy if you wanted, or the Asian or Indian biker guy....know what I mean? I think it is cool when you can be presented with as much choice as possible.

I also can't figure out how with these cameras we STILL don't have the ability to capture our own faces with the camera and have the in-game character mapped to that picture! In SOME cases at least, it would be pretty cool to be playing ME throughout the game. At least for SOME games. :)

Anyway, this game looks interesting to me. The bit with the dragon was pretty funny, I thought. Good reaction that someone from our world today would have if thrust into that situation. :)

Let's be clear: if you give me a choice of the sex of the avatar, I always choose a female. If I have to watch a butt for hours, I'd rather it be a female butt :D

The little part that we have seen of the gameplay is the part that put me off.

DF talked about resolution.

1440p mininum... 1800p common... with checkboard.

Yep, they spoke about resolution, but as far as I know (possible that I am doing a mistake about it) never refered to this "1920*2160 CBR" resolution.

I guess the question now is why is it using the PS4 Pro setting whereas the Series X seems to be utilizing more of the next-gen system.

PS5 tools? Dev lazy? Sony even has the marketing rights on this game, so what happened here?

Series X is using the Xbox One X settings that doesn't use CBR.
The devs choose to let the resolution like it was in previous versions.

Xbox One X: 2160p DRS
PS4 Pro: 2160p with CBR DRS

Idk but it can't even max out the CBR resolution most of the time, which means it would utterly choke at native resolution.

I agree with you. FYI I wasn't aiming that comment at anyone. I just took the opportunity with this game to make a statement about being able to choose what you play. If you notice lately, a LOT of games are female protagonist only. That's not a mistake, it's a response to online culture at this point. I just want game devs to provide more choice in that area whenever possible.

They are both using their last gen Pro/X versions as a "base", it seems, with upgraded textures and stuff. Probably to save time and money.

IIRC, one of the PS3 MLB The Shows had facial scanning using the PS Eye. Or was it the Eye toy?

The results were an abomination but id figured that the tech would improve last gen. I agree that this should be an option in RPGs.

Huh... so this next-gen patch nothing but PR fluff.
For resolution yes... I did not checked others features that can be using changed next-gen settings/code.

If you look at the PS4 Pro / Xbox One X resolution setup it is clear the Xbox One X one used by Series doesn't need any change... the more powerful hardware will just make the DRS less agressive.

But maybe the PS5 using PS4 Pro setup should have been changed to use use only DRS and not like PS4 Pro with CBR.

Nonsense my good man. Reconstruction is the wise choice, each time, every time. If there is fat left on the table, increase scene quality.

Again CBR not fully resolved in some edges because it has some limits. You have to watch to the whole sharpness not to the jaggies in some spots.

i have no idea what ethomaz is talking about. this is a completely new port. the ps5 is not using anything from the pro version. there are two different modes. one is native 4k 30 fps and the other is using checkerboarding to hit 60 fps

I think Matt Hargett summed it up nicely on the performance differences between the consoles. Some game engines will favour a wide and slow design (Series X) and some will favour a narrow and fast design (PS5). LeviathanGamer2 has been saying for a while now both consoles will trade blows on a game by game basis. I think they're both on the money.

It's still too early to say honestly, we don't have a true next-gen game which is third party to compare the platforms, most games are still running on previous gen engines.

It only matters for console wars. Both consoles are essentially the same.

You don't even care to watch the video as many other who used it to spread the same narrative. He never said series X will literally destroy ps5 in the future but just did generic talks about tools are more complicated blablah which already we have heard tons of times. Nothing of new.

I think people before scream to the scandal should really wait the FPS analysys. I'm looking the VGTECH analysis about the one X in the 60 FPS mode and performance here are abysmal; believe me, game drops several times and it reaches even the 30 fps teeth in some spots.

I agree that we can't say its some lazy bc with uncaped frames as its obvious natvie ps5 app with clear graphics improvements but checkerboard res was already on ps4pro so no more work was done in this aspect
