So, no M2 this year, right? They just put it on the iPad and the new Mac...

M2 doubtful but an upgraded M1 with more CPU cores running at a higher clock rate I can see being put in a new iMac Pro later in the year.

It will be interesting if they upgrade the Mac Pro at any point as the current M1 doesn’t lend itself very well (or at all) to user upgradability.

I think there will be a new Apple chip this fall. Probably in the larger iMac (Pro?) , new 14’ and 16” MacBook Pro’s as well. Not seeing a new Mac Pro until early next year me thinks.

I do believe we have us a Simpsons reference:

How is Apple not called out for their archaic surburban building in a parc ufo building I will never know.

Why would people call them out for it?

Goes against recent densification and mixed use usage? Sure it's better than the old one but still 1200 surface parking? I know that the US is basically sprawl but more could have been done.

I'm starting to miss the live presentations. These pre-recorded ones have been nice, but they're starting to feel too slick and polished. I miss the relatively more rough-and-tumble feel of the live events, with the big audiences and their reactions. Felt more electric.

I'm also definitely missing Steve Jobs at these things--his reality distortion field, his magician + salesman presentation style, his taking potshots at competitors, etc. That guy could sell anything. The big Apple events from 2000-2008 or so (before he got really sick) were a lot of fun.

I like the new Apple TV (always been a great device, and the remote is finally fixed), but I feel like this is the first time in a long time where the event felt like a huge, huge, miss. The new iMacs just look plain stupid. An M1 in an iPad. An iMac that also has the M1. So now you're just picking form factor, but then interface operations and software selection is vastly different depending on what you pick. Why would a "MacBook Pro" have the same performance as a candy colored kids iMac?

I felt like this was the first show where it looks like there might not be really not strong internal vision at Apple anymore. I honestly just don't get it.

Damn, was so anticipating a new iteration of iPad mini.

The new iMac looks dope, will get one for wife when we move to new place.

That DMC mobile game is no where near console quality graphic as they advertise...

Would like that new iPad Pro but $1200 is kinda nuts. Prob just stick with my 2018 for a few more years.
There really isn’t a good reason for an upgrade at the moment. Not without a big iPadOS upgrade. I think they’re moving in that direction though. The new models come with 8 or 16 GB of RAM depending on the respective storage. I think we’ll see something big at this year’s WWDC, with these new models being the ground floor for new capabilities.

I’m ready to have FCPX and LogicX on an iPad.

I liked the new iMac, I am tempted to buy one but my issue is the 8gigs of ram, I assume the M1 chip does not need much ram? ... that is my only issue, not knowing if 8gigs is future proof.

It would be cool if we could upgrade m1 chip, open up your laptop remove it and slap m2 when its out, but its not gonna happen.

Really tempted to buy one of the M1 macs (desktop or laptop). At the moment I have an X1 Carbon (8th gen intel), but getting the itch for a new comp.

The new iMacs look gorgeous (would go for Blue personally), but an MBA is just as tempting too. ugh decisions decisions...

I love the green color, but wish you could use an apple pencil to draw on the screen just like surface studio :messenger_confused:

I love my M1 Mac. Use it for pretty much everything and the laptop doesn't make a sound. It's pretty nuts. It barely even generates heat.

I might need to get 2 4-packs of AirTags:
  • 2 tags for the dogs
  • 2 tags for keys
  • 2 tags for the cars themselves (hello anti-theft tracking)
  • 2 tags for suitcases/backpacks/other travel gear?

seems that tracking the cars and suitcases will be impossible, as the tag will start to beep as an antitracking feature.

How's that? They have a suitcase specific tag attachment:

Those ipad pro prices are ridiculous. I would rather buy the m1 air or macbook and get a free keyboard and trackpad.

If the AirTag owner is apart from their device l, the AirTag will make a sound and An iPhone user will automatically receive a notification that an unknown AirTag has been following them.

That means that the bag will beep and the burglar will be notified.

If it's stolen or misplaced, yeah. Seems to be the intention, no?

Indeed. It's going to be hard to justify getting a MacBook over the iPad Pro now, to be honest.
Why would it be hard? Just because they have the same M1 now (in the newest models), doesn't mean they are equal. Depends on your usage, I guess, but for me it makes it much easier to justify going Mac instead of iPP. I love using my iPP (2020 11" & 2018 12.9"), but it just can't compare to using my Mac.
macOS is just much more versatile than iPadOS. I do use my Mac (macOS) as my main computer, but I couldn't use an iPad as my main system.

I have an M1 Mac Mini on the way and I've been thinking about switching from my 2018 13" MBP to an M1 MBA or MBP, but the 2018/2020 iPPs are still plenty fast and the only reason I would consider upgrading is to get the new screen in the 12.9" model.

I don’t see enough to upgrade my iPad pro. But they look great for sure and I’d always recommend them.

I’ll be buying the 12.9” M1 iPad Pro with the new Liquid Retina XDR (Mini-LED) screen. It’s going to blow my mind for sure. That white Magic Keyboard will be mine as well. I have been waiting for this for a long, long time and following news articles and YouTubers for many months. It’s almost go time. The iPad Pro, from when I first bought my 2018 model, both opened my eyes to the standard of what tech should be and spoiled me so bad that I simply can’t use anything else now.

Purchased an M1 MBP today. Stunning machine, amazing power and energy efficiency. Rosetta 2 runs circles around my old X1 Carbon. Very happy with the purchase.

Finances permitting, I think an iMac is on the cards.

Your bag would be beeping, that cannot be good in an airport environment.
It only beeps if you request it to in the app. If the item is with someone, it eventually mentions a tag is with them that belongs to someone else. The device would be entirely worthless if it randomly beeped.

Yeah, I was disappointed, I could use a new ipad mini with faceid...

New imacs look great but I really have no use for one.
