At this point how can anyone underestimate or deny Microsoft/Xbox?

You fucking crank :messenger_tears_of_joy: InSomniac would have made a new Ratchet game and the Spider-Man DLC regardless of Sony purchasing them.

That’s just like, your opinion man. Sunset is a great game, but Ori reigns supreme.

Mismanaged my arse :messenger_tears_of_joy: they just accepted Sony’s money hatting on 2 games and are happy to honour those contracts. Zenimax recent output;

Fallout 4 88 Metacritic
Prey 84 Metacritic
Dishonoured 2 88 Metacritic
Insomniac two games out on the Next Gen soon.

They said the same thing last year about Halo. At this point you either deliver or no one cares. Empty promises don't spawn games, it has been a decade in the waiting.
it's 6bmonyh into a new gen halo will release between the first year ....xbox user have trillions of games to play with gamepass the only one concerned are playstation users that don't want xbox succeed

i dont understand what should change? they having consoles constantly sold out and a user exploding service.....surely they will not convince hardcore loyal fanboys to leave sony but mass market is a different beast
They are out of stock as they didn't look to order the same amount of components as Sony, but I really don't think they'll make a huge difference outside of the US / UK either way.

Do you know how much elder scrolls 5 sold on ps3 or fallout 4 on ps4?

"Within two days of the game's launch, 3.4 million physical copies were sold. Of those sales, 59% were for the Xbox 360, 27% for the PS3, and 14% for the PC. In the first week of release, Bethesda stated that 7 million copies of the game had been shipped to retailers worldwide, and that total sales through the following Wednesday were expected to generate an estimated US$450 million. By December 16, 2011, this had risen to 10 million copies"

"In November 2016, Howard announced that Skyrim had sold over 30 million copies." People think that sit around 50 millions of copies right now
good luck to miles morales

spiderman with a userbase of 100 milions consoles sold 20 millions

It is important to remember that people are looking for different things in gaming.

Xbox can be financially successful but still don't have their Bloodborne, God of War or Zelda BOTW.

If I had a wish for Xbox it would be to do well and release newly created soulful AAA games.

In the end as a gamer I care about the games I love and the financial side of a big multi billion dollar company is not what I identify myself with.

It’s important for Xbox to have its own identity. After trying to steal the identity of a dead console, it became the go to for multiplayer shooters, but that wasn’t sustainable. It’s part of the reason why MS even thought of just nuking the whole thing because it was a mismatch for the parent company, the brand didn’t make sense and was downright unappealing.

With the Series, it has finally been able to turn Xbox into something that fits the image of the parent company. It’s about the services, that’s what MS is about. They are a software services company.

How can you prove this? imagination?
It's been stated in various articles, Sony ordered a higher amount of parts plus look at the hardware sales, says it all.

Your imagination is thinking Xbox will be any higher than 3rd place even though they are chucking money bags to make Gamepass work long term.

At least they are trying something different though rather than relying on Gears, Forza and Halo.

The Xbox brand has basically zero customer loyalty in most of the world, it's gonna take some time before they even make a dent in PlayStation's mindshare. This forum is rather US-centric, so many people's perspective is warped. I've basically never heard anyone even mention the Series consoles here in Sweden, and I don't know anyone who has one. Everyone either has or is trying to get a PS5. Anecdotal, yes, but still.

Bringing out a spectacularly high budget proper Fable game and a Perfect Dark game where you can control weather with spectacular effects will go a long way to showing people their trust is not misplaced.

And Banjo Threeie.

Hint hint

They’d also have to have a good developer for Banjo Threeie, any newrare/playtonic crud won’t cut it..

As someone who has limited time to game, basically only weekends, I don’t see the point in gamepass. I’d spend more time trying games to find one I like. This is why gamepass will never beat buying a game I want to buy.
It’s the reason I still go to the cinema because I seem to spend more time browsing on Netflix and the like than actually watching.

Ehhh I think Gregg Mayles would still have it in him.
I just know Yooka Laylee was not it.. and sea of thieves was not old rare tier. A new Bk needs to be 3D Mario level good. I’d trust Insomnia with Double Fine writing with one of the Old Rare heads watching over it.

some of u guys here make a big deal of game pass

yes it is a great service for some people but not for the most of user base

it is quite hard to allocate time and commet to one game

gams take many hours to complete we do not want 100 games to play we only want 1 or 2 most in a month and this is much even for most players

this is why many of gamers only play handful of games

I know many people only play fortnite

many only play fifa and cod

most hardcore gamers only interested in some genres or specific games

most want day one releases for games they like and want to buy

in fact most do not want a service like gamepass

They are snagging so many studios/publishers. GamePass is insane and getting better.. ofcourse they are not deniable.
Until they are upping their prices on their services I don’t see no one stopping this train.

For the first time in many many years, games are actually coming. Unfortunately they're still not here quite yet, many of them are years away and they launched a new console with absolutely nothing. Let's also not forget that many people lost faith during the late XB1 era where their releases were a graveyard while the "other side" was getting a big exclusive almost monthly. Their entire strategy seems to be gamepass gamepass gamepass. It's great value but not for everyone, they need a few games to go with it at some point.
I would say the strategy is GamePass, GamePass, backwards compatibility.

Again the GamePass selection and approach, and playing old games isnt for everyone.

Because as of now there’s still no games from them since launch? You can get hyped off hardware and subscription services if you want. People buy consoles to play games and only PS5 from its launch has gotten all these first party games.

Even the biggest most notable game on gamepass that got so much attention is a Sony game.

All MS and Xbox fans do is hype up the future with no tangible results

I’ve given up on these debates. Just wait and see. It seems pretty obvious what’s going to happen over the next two years, but the denial is strong, bordering on desperate…

Hardware wise we all saw the direction they were going when they designed and came out with the Xbox Series X. That should have been the first sign that they were getting their sh*t together. Then you have game pass, the acquisitions, the XSX and the XSS. Hell look at the elite controllers and the Xbox wireless headphones (not my cup of tea) on the accessories side of things. You had to know that they were bringing it going forward. Some of you acting like they are dabbling in the video industry with no clear plan. This is not to knock Sony or Nintendo in any way.
Gamepass is still bringing games day one like previous years and gamers are still waiting for FP AAAs to arrive without any reasonable launch window, how has anything changed in the console market for MS?

I think it's easy to say and accept that Microsoft is doing better so far this gen than last. They put themselves in a good spot.

However, I don't think anyone should underestimate Microsoft, Sony, or Nintendo.

But people have their preferences, and there's nothing wrong with that.

I like the direction xbox is going. I love gamepass..... But..... To be honest they have yet to truly deliver yet, which I'm hoping This E3 they will not only drop some bombs but actually give us something this holiday season. In fact I think they need to in order to capitalize on the momentum they've managed to build so far. So... I don't think they are underestimated.... I think they have more to prove because they haven't delivered consistently yet like some would say sony has.

Guerilla has the exact same average score as Bathesda, 73. You can pick a single outlier game from most developers that has shit reviews. Not sure what your point is.

I mean we know the games are coming, but aren’t most of them really far away from release and their actual quality is unknown?
No. Most of them aren't really far away, no. There's bangers coming this year. Quality wise we have to wait and see. But there are a plethora of games. They just bought l Bethesda for trying out loud. And GP is killing it with content.

I have GP running since november. I don't use it anymore. Its not that its bad, but its because I'm the consumer that wants to play new releases day one. Bought Nier yesterday, pre ordered RE 8. R-Type and Mass Effect are also on the radar (and Rift Apart, but its a PS5 exclusive). None of these games hit GP at launch day afaik and will occupy my time.

People mostly care about games. Show great games and they'll come. Show mediocre games and they'll flee to other places.
Do they? Fallout 76 was a sub mediocre game but since them it received many patches and popularity keeps rising. Sea of Thieves was a good game at launch but lacked in content, they keep patching the game and player base is really huge according to Microsoft numbers. Minecraft dungeons was nothing more than solid (compared to other dungeon crawlers) but the popularity is super high, even on platforms like Nintendo Switch where they face super strong exclusives. Additionally we have Gears of War and Forza Horizon as AAA-Games with long patch support. Microsoft is good in GaaS and if you are willing to provide content and game enhancements, people will play your games even if you struggled with the initial release. At least, if you don't launch into oversaturated genres with faulty strategy (Bleeding Edge).

Sure, you need some great games but I think it's also important to provide a good variety of games even if they aren't the best. Big brands with big budgets tend to be very similar because they have to rely on proven game principles for reliability reasons. Don't get me wrong, Horizon Zero Dawn is a great game, but the similarity to other open world games is huge despite the new (well chosen) setting. Also for me, Spider-Man feels like a faster paced Batman. However, I am simply oversaturated. For someone like me, it's just not enough to change the setting and the names and modify a few mechanics. And I know a lot of people who feel the same.

Forza is the best xbox game, Halo is a shell of its original form back in the day, Gears is a decent game. Those combined you're not really missing anything if skipped, same with the rest of the titles you've mentioned above.
