Do you still visit gaming sites?

I mean obviously you're here if you're reading this, and many of you probably still have accounts at RE or visit there often. But I'm talking about non forums. Sites like IGN for example. Those kinds of sites used to be a staple for me years ago, but nowadays I get almost all of news from here, RE, or reddit. When I think about it, these site make up at least 90% of my non-porn, non-work related internet activities.

what about ya'll motherfuckers?

Mainly here, Reddit, twitter for gaming stuff now, IGN on occasion for a quick review but I prefer YT and Twitch for some gameplay samples

Is 'That Pure Potato'
I have "gaming news" as a search column in tweet deck, directly follow several major gaming news twitter accounts, sub to /r/games on Reddit, and get a daily email update from Gamespot which is basically a list of their latest articles. This is the only place where I actually discuss games. Pretty sure that's it.

Google News's algorithm figured out that gaming is a hobby of mine so I get a random gaming related article in my "For You" section but it's almost always some kind of clickbaity article on gizmodo or polygon.

Edit: poster above reminded me that I do use Twitch as pretty much a review site, watching someone play about 20 minutes of a game I am thinking about buying.

If you're talking about game journo sites like IGN, GamesIndustry, Kotakoo, Polygone, etc, no. If I see a game I'm interested in I'll check out the dev site or look it up on youtube or twitch. GAF is pretty much the only one I come back to, and even this place is dying (due in large part to some nuke or something).

I'll occasionally drop by Eurogamer. Most of my gaming news consumption happens on YouTube though - not because I prefer watching videos (I don't), but because I think the YouTube gaming media is more broadly aligned with its audience than the "print" (or website, I guess) gaming media. Sites like Kotaku and Polygon are just failed liberal arts grads desperately trying to clickbait themselves into more prestigious jobs.

I probably stopped going to sites like IGN or GameSpot around 2001 and never went to any of the newcomer sites like Kotaku, NGon, or any of the other more modern sites which have come or gone since then.
Always been on message boards and pivoted hard around that time since the content quality coming from those sites was crap, and still is in my opinion.

Not really. I mean, sometimes I see a headline, click on it and it will take me to a gaming site, but I don't really puruse them anymore. I mostly get my news from forums such as this one.

I never do. For me it's GAF (RE sometimes) and social media. I get all my news from here or the FB groups I'm in. IGN and company knew they had to be on social media for their business to continue or else they would no longer exist.

I cry about SonyGaf from my chair in Redmond, WA
Really only Gaf and specific reddit channels. Nothing really noteworthy besides that.
Nah. Too much whine about politics instead of games. Maybe if the gaming sites turn themselfs back into gaming sites I might get back to use them as a reference of information.

Thankfully not every site is like Era or Kotaku.

Yet.

Retro ones, but GAF serves my news needs. One of reason I miss the political thread, there was some interesting shit posted that I would never have known about 😰

I find twitter to be the most reliable and up to date source for gaming news.

Nope, never done. Only fan sites with resources like wikis, wowhead for WoW, crafting / database sites for PoE and reddits / discords. Never understood why anyone would visits sites like IGN since 2008ish.

Loved gaming magazines in the 90s and early 2000s, but that time is long over.

I use an aggregator. Innoreader is the one of choice since Google Reader was killed. I prefer it this way because I can read the news without the clicks.

NO PAIN TRANCE CONTINUE
I haven't visited a videogame news/preview/review site in more than two decades now you mentioned it. Mainly because I've always had the thought that if a game would be worthwhile to be aware of I would read about it on GAF. I'm very sure that not visiting sites leaves a big gap in my knowledge regarding upcoming games and what have you, the (general) state of gaming journalism doesn't incite me to regularly visit sites. I can do without the hype, hyperbole and opinions based on internal deals so as to make a certain game come off in a certain way.

One max 10min look on a let's play sort of gameplay video and I know enough.

The small ones might be better to visit. But I'm just too tired of all this shit on gaming sites so I gave Up to try. Nowadays my only source of gaming news is Neogaf and a few youtube channels.

Mostly GAF. SiliconEra/Gematsu for news. Gamefaqs when I need to know something about a game I'm playing. A couple of old Final Fantasy french sites. Maybe Hardcoregaming101 once in a while.

I hope sites make a come back. I love old fansites with a custom look and long articles. They're cozy and ooze passion in a way you can't feel on YouTube.

No. Just some forums like B3D, Reddit, Gaf, Era and that's it.
But I started listening to podcasts. Didn't do that before.

Other than here mostly Gematsu, and siliconera at times. Also famitsu. As for the big names, Kotaku ign polygon etc, all of them I rarely ever go to anymore. Their articles, writing styles, and opinions just don’t sync with my own on gaming anymore. Personally just reading posts here, watching YouTube videos and picking up famitsu each week does a better job of giving me my gaming news and info than those big sites do.

Funny enough, I was censored at Gematsu just because I said (About Baldur's Gate III):

A western game where famale character looks beautiful. Nice.

GAF and Reddit, and sometimes ERA because it’s fun to point and laugh at the weird looking animals in the zoo sometimes.

I don’t bother with reviews anymore. If I’m interested in a game, I’ll watch a stream on Twitch to see if it appeals to me.

Outside of here and Reddit ( which are my main sites ), I mostly lurk at all the other "popular" sites. I will say my favorite site of all time was the old Teamxbox site/forums ( 2000's ). Shout out to the old OTL crew if anybody is lurking.

I use to visit ign all the time but I think I started hating how they set up the front page and quit going there. I use to go to kotaku a lot in the past as well but they were bashing gamers over and over again so I stopped going over there as well. I use to use n4g and dualshockers as my go to gaming news source but i just fell off from doing that. Mostly I just get my news from youtube . Neogaf use to be great for news but the split destroyed it and we still haven't recovered.

Imagine admitting you go to REE. That place is for the crazies. Don’t come here if you frequent that cesspit.

anyway, I get most of my gaming fix from here, Reddit, and following various gaming Twitter/YouTube accounts for studios, publishers, media outlets.
