CLOAT: Future EA titles on Gamepass day one.

That actually 100% true

With those splits I suppose its possible EA makes more from putting the sports games day 1 on GP, as long as their data supports the MS $ and micro's $ exceeding the lost sales on Xbox.

But my oh my, I cannot imagine anything more devastating for the Madden / FIFA community than such a proposition, and that includes all of the PS / Xbox / PC ultimate team players. Any win for the Xbox players on up front money, will be short lived if you love Ultimate Team regardless of what platform you play on. What I am talking about is just how difficult it is to build strong teams without spending money. Even now its near impossible unless you live day and night playing the mode, and even then its a stretch unless you master the cheese plays and ruin everyone's experience. If they drop sales, that 100% means the game becomes more pay to win than ever before.

Where did you pull that figure from?

Also, they could easily pay that if they increased the cost of Gamepass. I'd pay the extra for having every single game day one and never leaving the service.

Look at the information that came out from the Apple vs. Epic court case. Epic had to pay something like $1 Billion to have the 3rd party games on the Epic store for "free". And most of those games weren't RDR2 level great either. The biggest one was Borderlands 3. Which cost Epic $120 million by itself!!!!

Right? So just increase the cost of Gamepass. I don't see what the issue is. People would pay it if they were getting AAA titles day one.

It's unsustainable and Game Pass shall die and we shall adore thy companies through 70 dollars each game upfront no questions asked

But how much would they pay is the question. Would people pay $50 a month for a Gamepass SUPER Ultimate if it came with all 3rd party games?

Isnt ea access, or some variation on it is included with gpu? They'll probably add another gp sub that would have the premium ea access (or whatever), at a higher cost.

Sounds mad, but if I explain my logic it'll make more sense.

The cost of a single, brand new game is £70. What if you paid the same amount, but rather than getting one game, you get access to every new game from day one? Of course, your library would be locked to Gamepass, but that's a price I'd be willing to pay as it would save me money in the long run.

The bolded is the thing that I just couldn't pull the trigger on. If for some reason I needed to lower my budget to gaming for a few months, I'd hate to lose access to ALL my games during that period. Plus I personally only complete (from 0% - 100%) like 8-10 games a year.

And then I probably try out or partially play another 8 games through out the year that I don't complete.

It's really no different to other streaming services for music or film/TV. If I stop payment for Apple music, then I lose access to my library. If I stop paying for Netflix, then I lose access to their vast collection.

Shouldn't be any different with Gamepass. Stop paying and you lose the ability to play games.

It's going to be hard for people to get on board because they're still holding onto to the archaic notion of buying games and 'ownership', but people will come round eventually.

Thoughts? How many GOTY awards have Ubisoft's or EA's games won?

They can't deliver quality so they're going full cash grab route. This will definitely work for them for some time, but not necessairly in the long run. Quality is still very important and thankfully there are still some companies like Rockstar that realize this.

Now that I understand your logic, are you also anti "ownership" when it comes to all media?

This dude is a 100% fraud, just aping cboat's name for clout. Even the shit he got right like the Mass Effect 1 remaster was super obvious, and he didn't even get that right as it's a remaster of all three games. Stop falling for this obvious trolling. I called out fake next-gen insiders prior to launch and got shit for it but I ended up right. Same shit here.

MS execs and shareholders care. They matter to the business more than gamers.
Let Microsoft worry about that 😅 this place is full of armchair analyst's. Microsoft know how to run a successful business, they spend money if they see an opportunity. If it doesn't work out its no big deal to them, shareholders I would imagine are very happy with what Microsoft are doing.

RDR2 level? That's because only GTA is bigger, nothing else comes close.

The Best thing MS could do is offer all the MS games in the Ultimate subscription and add the option to choose between Ea, Ubisoft, Capcom, etc.

I can never install EA titles on Gamepass PC - always some annoying general error with that EA Desktop that lots seem to have raised to EA but nothing happens.

Good times!

Fine on Xbox though .. oddly.

Would be nice to have more day one titles but this seems a bit of a guess going by the tone.

That’s quite big if true, but I have my doubts about this rumor. I would imagine EA would lose a lot of money and potential sales in a deal like this. Games like FIFA, Madden and Battlefield basically sell themselves.

Does it really matter tho? Both companies have many of the most recognizable, most popular, most played and most profitable franchises there are in the business. GOTY awards are being given by just a handful of journalist, who barely even play video games to begin with, and as far as I'm aware EA and Ubi games didn't get many awards in the past decade, yet their games are being constantly played by teens/tens of millions of gamers, which clearly shows how vert little GOTY awards mean in the grand scheme of things. Take Fifa for example, it's a very stale franchise, but it's simply a lot of fun and that's what really matters at the end of the day, at least for most people. I've seen a YT vid recently on my feed with a title "how come a 6/10 game is so popular?!?" (Outriders), and the journos are simply unable to understand that people simply have FUN, that that's why they play games in the first place, to have fun, while most of the time all those GOTY games are being criticised exactly for their dull gameplay.

I cant afford £700+ a year and if I miss a month or the following months I dont have any games to show for it.
Id rather own my games.
This model isnt sustainable for everyone

I might be remembering this wrongly but i had a problem installing FIFA21. The problem was that the EA Desktop app was signed into my original Origin username and password and was not logged in with my Xbox account. I think thats what i did.

I think its MS is spending big bucks to eventually have a monopoly. They rather lose money now in hope of making money/controlling the industry in The future.
EA wouldnt be willing to lose money for Gamepass and MS. MS must be paying them big bucks, hence = No making any profit yet And losing money with Gamepass

Without gamepass and MS backwards compatibility, MS would be kinda becoming irrelevant, its a gamble To stay in the industry And they are putting in alot of money into buying studios and Gamepass.

Only music, TV/film and games. Not anti ownership, but ownership is overrated. Why 'own' it when I can pay a set fee to play every game??

It's the future of gaming as far as I see it.

Not long from now, the only way to play (console games at least) will be to sign up to a subscription service. Buying games will be a thing of the past.

This would be a huge get by MS. If they had Madden on day 1 in GAMEPASS would be a major get for the US market. I think that would drive a lot of players to the XBOX.

Anyone got a link to this ?
Here's a pretty good summary. It was obviously much more fun to watch it in real time back then, than it is to read a summary post about it now. His biggest bomb being Halo MCC, when most of us were just expecting H2:A

If you're right, then I'll quit gaming. And I'm sure there's millions of people that feel the way I feel. Either I quit or I'll move to whatever Nintendo is doing, because they'll never do something as dumb as the bolded.
