You know, at this point I'm almost starting to think this game won't be a total bomb if for nothing else than people wanting to really see how much of a train-wreck it will turn out to be, and maybe to play with drinking buddies (shots every time you hear "CHAOS!").

Team Ninja didn't create this trailer, Square Enix did.how did Team Ninja fall so far from grace.
I mean nomura has always been a hack. But did he drag TN down with him?
You can't ascertain anything about what Team Ninja have done from this game until you play it.
If your only input for a given thread is come to come in and call one of the most prolific Japanese developers still in the industry a hack and other fallacious comments then you need to re-think how you spend your time online.

Seriously though. Final Fantasy and Doom are my two favorite franchises. The idea behind this game is right up my alley, but the execution looks like it might be contrived. Hopefully that demo actually works at some point and the game turns out to be solid while just having a poorly edited trailer.

I think its funny that they decided to end their show with that instead of Guardians of the Galaxy. They must realize how bad the game looks in this trailer.

Tbh, im not sure if it is a game or a test of some kind to see how it sticks. To me this looked like they took something they been diddling with for mobile and then decided not to and push it onto consoles instead.
I do agree with you that this game will just fade out of existance OR next time we see it it will be something else.

On par with most games nowadays. It’s like writers are bottom of the barrel at game companies, they probably share the dungeon with Q&A interns.

The reactions are mostly to the dialogue and character designs which are all handled by Square Enix... Team Ninja is only involved in the gameplay aspect, which no one is able to try out due to the corrupt demo.

There’s a patch for the demo available. It’s now working.
Quick impressions:
DON’T USE PERFORMANCE MODE. It looks like 640x480 lol. It serves no purpose since quality mode is 60 FPS anyway.
Deep combat very similar to Nioh.
Switch to JP voice actors. English is unbearable.
You can get rid of the H&M shirt quickly with loot drops.
Music is good but only played it for awhile.
Tutorial is annoying and long but power through it.
I’ll pre-order when it’s available.

Yeap, I’m really afraid they rework the whole thing because of internet memes and forum mass hysteria. The Japanese are normally good at ignoring silly western panic attacks. Fingers grossed.

I knew combat will be good, it’s Team Ninja after all. Shame about presentation, most people will not look past that.

My god this game is good. Like, REALLY good! The graphics are super low res even in resolution mode, but I imagine it has to do with being an alpha. The first Nioh demo was pretty similar and the final game was much better. But the gameplay? Solid as fuck!
Play at least 30 minutes and the get the second job, the way they handle magic is amazing. I'm loving it so far, really really impressed! Team Ninja doesn't disappoint!

It does but the gothic atmosphere is indeed there and it’s pretty good. I actually don’t mind they keep it like this but that resolution needs to go up, up, up.

So yeah, the game's totally awesome. It's clearly built using the Nioh engine. The tutorial takes place in a grass field very similar to Nioh, and is honestly probably assets directly from Nioh. X dodges back just like Nioh. R3 locks on like Nioh. Lightbringer power up is depleted by time or taking damage just like Nioh.
I love that you can parry abilities and blue mage absorb them for later use.
If you're into action games you're probably going to really enjoy this.

It’s really good and I hope they don’t touch the protagonist who to me is super hot. I know no one wants white blonde hot men in their games these days but it would be a nice change from the multicolour dyed hair twinks we keep getting from Japan.
