This looks pretty decent, I am happy for Metroid fans.

Now how does this compare to indie metroidvania like Hollow Knight. Tough to take that crown back Nintendo.

Meh, the more I see it the more lifeless it looks. I said elsewhere, the Metroidvania genre has moved on. This will have its work cut out elevating it above Ori, Dead Cells, etc.
Ori has great visuals and decent music, and very little else going for it. The gameplay is easy as hell and the storytelling is so trite it's insulting to anyone who has actually lived through the subject matter they try to convey. Neither Ori game lives up to even the two original giants of the genre, Super Metroid or Castlevania Symphony of the Night.

So I think Metroid Dread doesn't have to worry about that.

Cold is the word you're looking for. And I think it was done on purpose based on the environment, the chasing robot, and how some parts are iced over. It's dreadful in a different way, a more silent and lifeless way. I dig it.
Wasn't really looking for a word TBH, but I can see where you're coming from. I'm definitely stoked and getting it, I just don't know, just weird feeling I can't shake off is all, lmao.

This is definitely MercurySteam. It's a big break for them, developing a new sequel to a cult favorite Nintendo franchise. I'm surprised their name was scrubbed from the trailer.

I promise this is not supposed to be a troll post or anything, but when I heard the Sound effects at first I assumed it's a 3DS games.
It sounds like a 3DS game that was last second rushed over to Switch which is why so much looks kinda washed out and rough around the edges.
I'll prob buy this day 1 and try to get the limited edition as I'm a sucker for all things Metroid, but I am going to be honest, it does look very rough.

Fusion was my first Metroid game and I've been waiting for a followup for 19 years. I leaned forward as soon as I saw her in a blue suit because I knew it was Metroid 5. And I shouted "yes!" at the title reveal. They've been teasing Dread since...Prime 1, was it?

I'm really happy that they're leaning into the horror aspect that fueled some of Fusion's best moments.

So happy. Even though I like Prime, I was disappointed when they announced Prime 4 because I wanted Metroid 5 more.

Can't wait to see what they do with the story now that Samus is a human with chozo blood, metroid DNA and now also X parasite DNA. Plus the Federation is now morally ambiguous at best.

Storywise it's going to be a sequel to Fusion. And the Robot enemies that stalk you very much is very similar to the SA-X that would stalk you except the encounters are less scripted.

From a game perspective given the mechanics it's also a sequel to Samus Returns.

Really interested on where the game will take us. We still don't know what the scenario is about.

Fusion took the story in a very interesting direction.

If MP4 isn't anywhere near ready don't expect MP trilogy anytime soon.

After 100 years of rumor is finally real.
Surprise motherfucker!
Nearly not an exageration, 20 years. Biggest pleasant surprise at E3. No need for more diversity, Samus was the first video game character who's pronouns were he/him.

Cool! finally, It looks good. The GB Metroid games are so good and of course SM on SNES. Dumb ? will this be on Switch lite.

Looks good. They seem to have implemented the counter mechanic in a more seamless way, you can move while performing it which makes the game much more dynamic. The environments look kinda sterile for the moment but it's obviously the beginning of the game and it might get crazier later. I like how they doubled down on Fusion's concept of being chased by an invincible opponent. Cautiously optimistic.

Did you play the 3ds title? It looked like pure shit at the start and actually got worse somehow as it progressed.

Fucking lazy barren foreground and backgrounds.

I was really hoping this shit would have been only for the one off 3ds title.

This shitty lazy fuck style doesn’t fit the franchise or even come close the quality of Nintendo’s laziest games.

I played it, it was a good game, keep seething.

Another Mercury Steam Metroid ? No thanks. They already destroyed 2D Castlevania and 2D Metroid, not interested in another game by this company which has absolutely no clue of what makes a good Metroid game.
fuck me what castlevania games did they make?

that wank one on the 3ds??

Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams, and it was. It really was.
I like it..

I was hoping for a glimpse into Prime 4. But I guess it ain't ready. If people are complaining about Dread's graphics, I can only imagine Prime 4 probably doesn't look as good right now.

I mean are we supposed to be blown away by this regardless of who had a good conference?
If you are waiting years for a 2D sequel of a game that you love, (the only Nintendo franchise that I actually care about)

VS

Gamepass indies (which will mostly be available on other platforms) and Starfield (new IP that has a lot to prove after the recent Fallout games)

Then yeah I am blown away by this personally.

Comparing the two conferences back to back and I'm sorry but, Nintendo winning it is not even a debate.
