Halo Infinite (campaign). I may also play the campaign for Forza Horizon 5 but this is a wait and see.
In general though, it's more about the entire roadmap of games which as of now is at 12 including Halo Infinite but excluding Forza Horizon 5.I think Halo and Forza look fantastic but they desperately need those to drop. Because Sony already has Miles, Returnal, Demon Souls and Ratchet out which have all seen nothing but stellar reviews.
Halo and Forza look fantastic. But they needed these games to come out yesterday. Sony already has Astro, Returnal, Miles, Demons Souls and Ratchet and FFVII Remake DLC out. Next up is Kena, Deathloop(timed but still 6months before MSFT)Horizon and GoWR? All shaping up to be bangers.Halo Infinite (campaign). Meanwhile Xbox only had The Medium, The Ascent, Gears Tactics and Forza Horizon 5 drop in it’s first year. So, 6 exclusives, in addition to other multiplatform games like Call of Duty, Battlefield, Far Cry 6, etc.
- Kena
- Horizon Forbidden West
- Deathloop
- Solar Ash
- Ghostwire Tokyo
- Abandoned
Bro you’re delusional, a gtx 3060 is 400Meh, my pc is ps5 price. And only idiots spend that much money to get pc at that price.
You don't like bethesda games, because they aren't your taste. I don't like halo. But that doesn't mean halo is bad. Same for ff7. I only played for 2 hour. Its on my library. I can play it now, but I won't touch it. Same for re2 remake, monster hunter world. They aren't garbage games. They aren't for me.
As for pc, its your fault for trying those top notch gpu. I mean, 1060 is still works fine. I dont see the issue why you need 3090. Unless you are super rich, or are in to graphic 4ks or whatever its, normal gpu is fine. My setup is amd ryzen 3100, Radeon rx570. Cheap setup. The entire computer costed me 500. I can upgrade it. But I have no use for it.
Next gen patches for past gen games - Gears, forza h etc. gears is specifically interesting as these patches mixed with new expansions can be easlily compared to Spider-Man mm in terms of generational improvements and content, main difference being that ms didn’t release these as stand alone games. Now we also got 3 big first party games coming out in h2 this year. What have the competition released so far?
Sony already updated Ratchet, TLOU PT 2 and Ghosts to go 60fps on PS5. I think that for the next 12-24 months we will see Sony releasing many past gen remasters (at full price) and couple cross-gen games. I don’t think that Sony’s pipeline is as packed as ms one.
Some people justify what Microsoft did to rare by saying rare doesn’t want to work on their old IPs: which is laughable, because you know they would if any talent that’s left in that husk that could develop anything half as good as their N64 days they would.Jim is right.
Honestly sony games are absolute top quality. Dare i say even overshadowing nintendo.
I dont see how ms could ever compete. Especially considering its history when it comes to nurturing talent.
Just look what they did to rare. Rare was arguable better than bethesda. Now they are irrelevant.
exactly. Cant get one here in the netherlands either..The next gen doesn’t start until I can finally buy a PS5.
His quote is fine. You guys better not get too exhausted in debating some of the executives' words. That's not worth it.
I don't think that's what he meant when he talks about throwing money at stuff, Xbox isn't new in the gaming industry they've been around almost 20 if not 20 years, and yet if the Bethesda acquisition fell thru or wasn't available for purchase where would these guys be right now? A vast majority of there lineup is no where close to being ready, and these are 'legacy' studios within Xbox. Its a serious question. Its easy to make purchases but to bring everything together into this perfect storm to where things just work is something different. its a culture thing not a money thing.PS5 has definitely had a better launch period in terms of games than PS4, and the first 18 months also look amazing with the upcoming Horizon, GOW, and GT. I think a lot of people forget the long games drought that Sony had after their initial six month PS4 launch window was over.
His second statement is a little bit funny though. While true that you cannot just solve creativity with money, they really need to expand their studios. Since only insomniac seems to be able to churn out games in less than 4-5 year cycles they are going to run into a problem of not many first party games in 2022-2024. Have a look at their teams and when we should be expecting the next game in the cycle:
Bend Studios
Last release: Days Gone - 2019
Next release: new IP 2024-25?
Guerrilla Games
Next release: Horizon Forbidden West 2021
Release after: unknown 2025
Insomniac Games
Last release: Ratchet & Clank 2021
Release after: unknown, but probably 2022 knowing Insomniac. These guys are amazingly prolific
Media Molecule
Last release: Dreams 2020
Release after: unknown 2024-25?
Naughty Dog
Last release: The Last of Us 2 - 2020
Release after: TLOU 2 Remaster? 2022? 2023? Then after that it is completely unknown. If new IP I expect 2024
Polyphony
Next release: Gran Turismo 7 2022
Release after: GT title 2027
San Diego Studio
Do I need to do this one? They will pump out MLB every year
Santa Monica Studio
Next release: GOW Ragnarok 2022
Release after: unknown, probably another GOW 2026
Sucker Punch
Last release: Ghost of Tsushima 2020
Release after: unknown 2025
Team Asobi
Last release: Astro's Playroom 2020
Release after: Probably Astro VR game? 2022-23
Let's look at the count here. Sony had a great 2020 with TLOU2, Dreams, Astro's Playroom, Miles Morales, and Ghost of Tsushima. 2021 looks like Ratchet and Horizon. 2022 has GOW:Ragnarok and GT, and maybe TLOU2 Remastered. Looking at 2023 though it is apparent that Sony is going to have to be "throwing money at it" by either money hatting or do co-development with studios in order to fill the year with some games. As gaming gets bigger, and games take longer to develop, they need more studios or at least more teams inside their studios.
Did you even read?
Nurturing creative talent is not as simple as throwing money at it. You also must give them the freedom to be creative, to take risks and come up with new ideas.
His comment was very specific.
and they are going to focus alot of 2nd party exclusives as well based on the partnership announced recently, pretty sure they would like to own fullrights of new IP and dont want to end up like MLB fiasco.Sony has been throwing money at third parties for exclusives lol.
You are trying to speak logic to people with their head in the sand…I honestly think we may only see hzd2 and maybe a smaller first party title next year….we have zero actual footage of the rest of their announced games and Sony’s track record of announcing games well before they are going to be released stands by itself….we had the same e3 show for 3 years in a row and In the last year they had e3 we had flute guy before they pulled the pinPS5 has definitely had a better launch period in terms of games than PS4, and the first 18 months also look amazing with the upcoming Horizon, GOW, and GT. Again, we can go by the title on the thread or the actual quote. Ryan says enough stupid things without taking his quotes out of context, like this quote or the “generations” one (both which are reasonable when you see them in full).Sony has been throwing money at third parties for exclusives lol.
and xbox hasnt? what rock are you living under respectively speaking? also what do you think day 1 on game pass means when it comes to 3rd parties that decide to add a game to game pass like outridders as an example? Do u think SE did it out of the goodness of there hearts for the gamer? u think there was no compensation? its just a prettier way of paying for limited exclusivity in terms of tempting people by undercutting your opponent.Sony has been throwing money at third parties for exclusives lol.
Or you are just wired to take everything one exec says as false and sneaky and the other, Phil, as gospel of a kind and generous soul. You are not objective.the bit about freedom and creativity is a front.
It is pretty clear that if you deal with snakes in your life.

There was no double speak or going in circles in that particular quote (yet you see it so strongly, which was my point) and if you are saying you never see anything similar in Good Guy Phil (I think the worst I have seen might be you thinking he is just too nice and good… j/k, but am I that far off ?) well it again reinforces my point.no, i just dont like jimbo going in circles and double speaking.
if he kept things plain and simple, i have no problem.
Is God of War Ragnarok 2 considered a small 1st party titleYou are trying to speak logic to people with their head in the sand…I honestly think we may only see hzd2 and maybe a smaller first party title next year….we have zero actual footage of the rest of their announced games and Sony’s track record of announcing games well before they are going to be released stands by itself….we had the same e3 show for 3 years in a row and In the last year they had e3 we had flute guy before they pulled the pin
So my moneys on 2 aaa games for 2022 and the rest jimbos going to have to get out that chequebook
imo he was sneaky and he threw shade at the zenimax buyout.

When I thought your comments can't get any worse.
Throwing money at the problem has never worked
You have the predictable laughing Bo at the bottom cause he's got nothing of any importance to say. Everything you said is correct however, the effects of the Zenimax buyout will reverberate for years.call me sensitive but imo this is jimbo doing investor damage control since the zenimax buyout.
that buyout did shook the landscape if you are an investor looking forward.
I think you are over valuing zenimax i have no doubt he would have liked for them to remain independent, but it was a good move for Microsoft they needed it the absolute most out of the 3 platform holders.call me sensitive but imo this is jimbo doing investor damage control since the zenimax buyout.

Those studios aren't first-party. But the games they release for PS5 are first-party games. That's the difference you are overlooking.Respectfully, There is really no point discussing this if you believe bluepoint, housemarque and by extension, from software (bloodborne) , ready at Dawn (the order) , supermassive (until dawn) , quantic dream (detroit) are first party. It's a non-starter. So let's cut our losses and move on before this gets ugly. If insmoniac and bluepoint were first party they wouldn't have made sunset overdrive and titanfall for Microsoft.
I have many reasons to suspect that Sony is lying given their recent history, but i never said they were lying about that. I'm taking a wait and see approach. They have a conference coming up, let's see what they got.
Why are you talking about xbox ?and xbox hasnt
What about buying SFV, FFVII, FFXVI and Forsaken ? Was this free ?Sony has bought companies like ND and Insomniac or Sucker Punc
Theres a diference in providing resources, funding, co-development, freedom etc. all while creating an original IP for your brand then lets say going out and buying Minecraft in which you had literally zero involvement, surely you understand this?
Watch out Jim, last time you wanted to land a jab at MS you hit bo one but yourself.
If it wasn't for throwing money they would nave nothing, it's money paid for Bluepoint that brought DS remake, it's money that founded Returnal, it's money that bought IG who are carrying.
I don't understand how Rest mode is broken for some? I've never had an issue, at all. Is it related to the game that is being played? Could it be the manufacturing process is introducing gremlins into the hardware of some models? What is going on with the OS team? The OS was not stable at launch. It still has issues. Rest mode is a mess. No multitasking. The OS is a downgrade from the PS4 and they’re taking a long time to get it up to par and just get it stable.
Wait, wait, wait ... your drive was randomly spinning up during Rest?!!! Oh my lord!I am still haunted by the sound of the disc drive spinning into oblivion in the middle of the night while I slept while the damn thing was in rest mode. Which is fixed now but Christ it should not have shipped to customers with those types of glaring issues.
Lol sure I remember this fun one. Sony went the money hat route Microsoft bought studios. So Jim can try to play innocent all he wants lol. Not throw around my ass.Theres a diference in providing resources, funding, co-development, freedom etc. all while creating an original IP for your brand then lets say going out and buying Minecraft in which you had literally zero involvement, surely you understand this?
Paying a publisher to delay another version of a game is terrible, but buying a publisher to cancel another version of all future entries of a franchise forever is a-okay."Throwing money won't lead to success", yet MS still has to honour two of their moneyhats after a publisher acquisition, for one example...

Yeah, they build more, with less money, than their competition does while simply taking away.
Watch out Jim, last time you wanted to land a jab at MS you hit bo one but yourself.

PS4 launch was a swan song of old Sony that used to bring a deversive variety of games, after that they went all-in with their TPP story-driven template, so I don't know if I'd call PS5 that great, there's nothing new really other than a stand-alone expansion, a PS3 game remake, and an indie shooter, R&C is the first game that feels right. And that's pretty much it when it comes to first year, HFW is yet to be either rekeased or delayed.
