Kickstarters that delivered ... a awful game!

I hear about about kickstarters that run away with the money, and also about the occasional that end up good. But I wonder about the ones that delivered the game, but was awful anyway. I know shemue iii probably fit this, but I wonder about more under the radar project that not many heard of.

Is this a shitey number 9 thread, feels like a shitey number 9. That game was abysmal Inafune should be ashamed for releasing that turd. Here's an unfinished game but let me beg for more money for some extra dlc.

Chasm.

Jesuz christ, the creators should be ashame to create a game like that, let alone be even considered a Castlevania like game. Chasm is an offense to anyone who loved and played Symphony of Night, total piece of crap.

interesting. I’ve been meaning to pick it up on sale, I thought it reviewed decently?

I remember people being pissed at Godus for various reasons.
Turns out that while it might come as a shock to some, Peter Molyneux over promised and under delivered yet again.

Wasnt this new castlevania game another awful game that got deliverd?

Bloodstained was pretty great aside from the ugly visuals

If you like Symphony or any of its clones, seriously avoid this game at any cost.

I'm not kidding. If theres a generic of a generic, must be Chasm. The guy even created a roulette mechanic that have chance to give you permanent negative stats.

I could give you all the details about how bad this game is, but it would take a lot to write and Im not on pc yet. If you still want my feedback, just say the word and then I give you my proper analisys.

Anew: A distant Light is the only game I backed and that was because they reached their stretch goal of putting it out on the Wii U.

It still isn’t out. I don’t even have access to the email that I used to sign up for updates. There’s no way for me to know how I can switch which version I can play. In fact, I’m not even interested in playing the game any more.

I basically threw my money away.

I think awful games that get released are better than vapor ware.

Remember the Space Quest series from Sierra's duo the Two Guys From Andromeda? Well they are back & making a brand new SpaceVenture!

Supposedly it's still coming...

I feel like Mighty No. 9 was the most egregious offender here.

I figured people would say Shenmue III, but that was a case of a lot of hype crashing down on a series resurrection that was, in all honesty, very niche to begin with.

It also didn't help that the Kickstarter was fairly poorly managed. The Epic thing didn't help matters either.

But Shenmue III was fine for me. It was clearly constrained by budget(and I loved the originals), but I liked it.

It was similar to the older games and very much a throwback to the first two, which is what it was always going to be, for better or worse.

If someone didn't like Shenmue or had no idea what Shenmue was previously, it wasn't gonna sway minds.

You disgust me.

I need to finish Shenmue 1, 2 & 3.
I'm just being honest, shenmue 1 & 2 were mind blowing to me at the time when they landed :)

I remember being so hyped I discovered the Saturn in the living room and went out my way to win the games to play on my consoles.

I still need to replay 2, replayed the first game and got the 1000gs a little while back, very nostalgic.

I trusted IGA and what he delivered was Bloodstained Switch version (tbf they eventually tried to fix it, but it was too late)

It wasn't awful. I played through it once. It also came out reasonably close to schedule. I backed Ghost Song and still no game 34 years later.

Ask me about my terrible takes on Star Trek characters
I played Bloodstained on Switch and it was fantastic. Note - it was way after launch after it had been patched.

Not a video game, but a board game called Overboss. Created by the company that made Boss Monster (which is great). Overboss is not great. It's pretty boring. My gaming group played it once and will probably never play again.

Oh there are plenty some that come to mind. Shenmue III didn't so much underdeliver as deliver exactly what it promised to a fault. And Mighty No 9 was disappointing but not an outright bad game to be honest, especially compared to some rest f the stuff in this conversation.

Descent Underground: A sequel to the classic PC game made by a no-name dev who bought the license. Launched a bad, unfinished multiplayer only game that was met so poorly they pulled it from Steam. Promised to come back with something better but haven't as of yet. In the meantime the actual creators of Descent released a spiritual successor called Overload that makes the whole venture pointless.

Underworld Ascendant: Although I have a soft spot for this game and it has improved in post released patches it launched as one of the most broken games I have ever seen. It wasn't even really functional with no working save system. Even in patched form it is very much not the game backers wanted.

Moebius: New Adventure game from Jane Jensen. I thought it was pretty cornball and didn't like it.

Takedown: Complete half assed amateur disaster of a game.

It's better than nothing.

It wasn't awful.

Considering it was based exactly like SotN(and it's endless clones), yes it was pretty mediocre.
For starters, the devs don't even know the basic rule of drops. Also, this "seed" was nothing more than trading the positions of a room or two and be done with.
