Yes, and at events like Sneaker Con and such, they are currently selling for less than that. I've seen as low as $650. Keep in mind these have been "in line" deals and not through actual booths, so most of those prices just haven't caught up with reality(in person anyways)as I'd imagine very few of those people are reporting solds/offers on StockX, which in turn keeps the booth prices high, as they are referring to Stock X and eBay for their "market prices", haha. But yeah, online those prices are still firm.

I think this still shows of a bigger problem that needs to be solved. At this point, its the hundreds if not thousands of scalpers that a potentially creating an artificial increase in price.
So let's just say Sony is now close to meeting demand, and makes a million units a month for a nice round number. So the demand is a million a month as well, but scalpers buy 500k and suck out half the supply. The remaining 500k is gobbled up by consumers.
So when Joe consumer goes to buy one later in the month, again it's sold out, even though sony is making enough units. I dont know for sure if this is happening, but if it is is, it's an artificial shortage created by the scalpers themselves and its 100% lame. And I'm not sure it has ever happened to this extent before.

Well, PS5's themselves have still yet, to this very day, ever appeared in a retail store in North America. That alone should answer your question. We have seen, occasionally, Xbox Series X's show up at GameStop (but also sell out fast). Series S itself has had some small amounts of stock at some Best Buys. But PS5? It's still not even a "retail" unit. It's all online. Sold out within seconds. Still a massive queue for PlayStation Direct purchases. Nothing has really gotten better, at all. And it will only get worse as the bigger games come out.

And for people who never owned a PS4 and weren't able to play those titles (like me). That was my biggest incentive from the beginning, but was always thinking of waiting until cheaper prices even if they were available.

I got lucky and got one, but everyone else I know personally that wants one still has not been able to get one except for one person. So I'd definitely say that yes, they still aee hard to get.

Aeee I got one months ago without a scalper or bot, just followed a bunch of stock update twitter accounts for my country and snagged one on Amazon. It wasn't /that/ hard and I just used my human meat fingers, there's probably more now too.

Nothing much else aside from Deathloop excites me at the moment.
Anyone experiencing fomo has little reason to at this present time imho.
In time there will be obviously be some incredible stuff, but I see no reason to feel panicked into obtaining a Ps5 right now.

I'm in the UK and used a stock checker app thingie to notify me of stock.
Used "Very" in the end. I recommend them.

Yea, its very hard to get the "unscalped" version here in this part of the world. They're selling them at 1.5x to 2x the prices. Some are even selling the Japanese versions of the consoles here which I'm not interested because it'll be a hassle to claim the warranty.

I have a few of the stock notification twitter accounts followed but even if I click on the link right after it's posted, it always bugs out so I assume that I just have to accept I'm never going to beat bots unless I learn how to use bots myself. Plus, it's not like there are loooads of games I want to play on PS5 anyway (maybe Ratchet & Clank that's about it) so I'm not bothered anymore.
Plus if you want to see Sony's real next-gen stuff you have to stop buying their consoles (let them feel the heat and make them actually bring out the big guns).
