I just sold my PS5 for one reason.
I feel tired having and maintaining two consoles - jumping from one to another.
I made decision to keep my XSX since I prefer what MS is releasing (Flight simulator and soon Forza Horizon 5).
Having PS5 is great experience especially with R&C:RA and it was tough choice to let it go, but I felt just tired.

And frankly, it feels good to have just one system, like I cleaned the air and I do not need to divide my attention since now. I even bought expensive memory expansion (1Tb seagate 5gb/s speed) to feel more fulfilled :).

Question to you: do you feel the same, or if you keep more than one console (and PC?) do you feel tired sometimes dividing your attention?

I have both Series S and PS5. This is the first time I bought 2 consoles at the same time. I mostly maintained one in the past.

I think they are used evenly. The Xbox was on for many hours when I played Hades, Quake remaster. PS5 is on since I bought Arise, Judgment and now Returnal. I play one game at a time, so the Xbox doesn't get any hours these weeks. But that will eventually come, likely jump into Forza next.

But why sell. Just keep it there, eventually there will be a game you might want to check out. Which you can just do. The console doesn't walk away.

This is the first gen that I’ve owned a PlayStation and an Xbox. I got the Series X at launch and the PS5 in April. Since I’ve been a PS gamer for so long I play my PS5 mostly. But my Series X has gotten a lot of use since I’ve had it.

I sold my PS4 and barely game on my PC anymore. My Switch time also dropped significantly (although it's heating up again, played through Metroid and soon SMT5 and Pokemon are coming up). Xbox is my main platform now, it was PC before.

I keep a PC and a PS5. I really don't see an issue switching between the two. What exactly made jumping from one to the other so difficult?
This.

There are enough games on one system for most gamers, but being multiplatform covers all bases, plus you'll miss some top games otherwise. Plus having a PC is mandatory for me.

That's... an odd decision/approach. What's hard it switching between the two? An X game is on PS5, you grab the Dualsense and power on PS5, an Y game is on XSX, you grab the XB controller and power up XSX, depending what game do you wanna play. I think within a year or two you'll seriously regret that decision OP.

Xbox is getting most of my attention so far this gen but I’m far too entrenched in PS to just walk away. I have a huge library there and I don’t want to ever use my jet engine pro again.

Same for PC, too many games there I want to play.

I’ve been multi console +PC pretty much my entire life and I’ve made it work.

Just admit it, you sold the one you could make the most cash on, "lollipop_disappointed: :messenger_heart:

I just have an XSX and a gaming laptop. I already have way too many games and way too little time as it is without having more consoles. If you don't mind missing out on the games that come to the platforms that you don't own then it's all good. There really is no right or wrong, it's just down to personal preference.

Use to have a PS4 & Xbox One X.

Sold both and only have a Series X now. I get what you’re feeling and I think it comes from the fact that your gaming "headspace" is a bit more decluttered.

You focus on one ecosystem only and that’s it.

I have all of them, and yeah, I don't feel you'd be missing much if you owned only one between PS5, Xbox and PC. Unless you need something specific (Sony/MS exclusives, mouse/keyboard controls, strategy games, MMO, mods, emulators), they mostly have the same games.

But exclusive games are a big thing and I personally would feel like I'm missing out a lot. If I had to choose I'd go with Sony and Nintendo.

I have a PS4, Xbox One X, and a Switch. My 14 year old hoards the PS4 like Gollum staring at his precious and the One X is a media center I get free games on every month. I mostly play on the Switch.

I felt the same way in the 360/PS3 era except I prefer PS exclusives. I also always had a gaming PC so I went PS4/PC in the gen after, didn't regret it one bit.

Now with Xbox exclusives releasing on PC day 1, the PC/PS combo just got better.

I have ps5 and switch. Since I have a PC I can't see why to have xsx for me.
Use ps5 and switch oy for exclusives, all the rest on PC.

I've currently got a ps4, an xbox one, and a switch. I mostly play on my ps4, but my switch gets a fair amount of playtime as well. My xbox is essentially a giant paper weight/ dust collector.

This is the same reason I switched to mono audio. It was tiring trying to keep track of both sources in stereo.

I use to have series x, ps5 & switch.

I sold my ps5 as it didn't interest me, I actually felt guilty having it gather dust whilst people desperately want one.

I sold it for, what I paid for it, so someone else could enjoy it & I got what I paid for it back what was nice.

Switch, once I got a series x, it genuinely made going back to the system near impossible sadly.
Not only that the social features were a step back from the Wii u... What really irritated me.

But I found with a series x, I can't even keep up with the games I want to play as it is

So it made owning other systems pointless anyway, as I don't have the time.

That being said, recently I've been enjoying back4blood on game pass with a friend who is on ps5, I hope this trend continues with crossplay/communication, as it's great and I honestly believe it benefits games & players in general :)

I think a big part of where you play most, depends where most your friends play are.

I know what you mean, most of the time i don't even have more than 2-3 games installed for that reason. Sold my gaming Pc + PS4 and went all Xbox this gen. I will only get a PS5 when PSVR2 is being released and Xbox doesn't make a deal with a 3rd party VR.

I’m happy with having both the PS5 and XSX.

XSX I pretty much only use for Game Pass and through that alone in the past year I reckon I’ve saved like £200 on games I would have bought on the PS5 anyway. Plus totally worth it for exclusives such as Forza Horizon 5.

PS5 is what all my friends are on so I buy almost all multiplats on that and their first party output will no doubt kickoff and be amazing soon.

Best of both worlds.

No. That sounds horrible. I want access to every game and not limiting my game selection out of necessity.

The only platform I no longer have is PC, as I found keeping it up to date more stress and a headache than it was worth. I look forward to my SteamDeck though.

Now, IF I could only have one it would definitely be a PS5. But, I consider Switch a necessity too. Thank goodness I don't have to make that decision though.

Dont you know? Consoles require constant cleaning to avoid rust build up. Spare parts are a must and the internals need a full change and clean every other month.

I feel similarly, but for different reasons. Maybe it’s because I grew up pretty poor, but owning multiple systems seems a bit extravagant and wasteful to me unless they each offer enough different games to warrant a purchase.

To me, owning an Xbox and a PlayStation is wasteful because they share most of the same library, and to be honest very few exclusives from either camp excite me that much. I like Halo, but it’s not a system seller to me. Likewise Spider-Man would be cool to play, but I don’t see the need to get a PS4 for it. Nintendo on the other hand, usually have enough different games on their system for me to feel like having it as a secondary console is worth it.

I usually go with Xbox and Nintendo, because aside from exclusive From games, PS exclusive don’t interest me that much. I could probably go full PC/Nintendo (though not in the current market), but I like the convenience of Consoles so I go with Xbox as way to play all the multiplat games that I want. Also I really like the backwards compatibility and use it often. It would be cool to play something like Death Stranding, so I’m missing out a bit, but I don’t absolutely need to play it. Can’t play every game after all.

I always end up buying consoles from the big 3 but the Xbox has always been my main and preferred to play most of the games while the other 2 is mostly used on exclusives! Also those PSN flash sales are the best compared to Xbox Gold deals.

Yeah I get it OP. You only have so much time so splitting your gaming across multiple consoles is annoying. Plus you gotta make room for everything.

I keep telling myself I’ll stick with just one but I’ll probably grab a PS5 revision down the line. I’m definitely in no rush with a Series X and Switch under my TV.

I have switch, ps5, and series x. I like having the choice tbh, and i never feel like im missing out. I mean you do you op, but i feel like you might regret it once some high quality first party sony games start hitting next year. But if money is the issue, ive been there before, definitely do what feels right man.

During the 16 bit generation I had all the consoles, plus some legacy 8 bit ones that were still getting support. At the end I realized that I could not afford to buy all the "Must play games" even if I waited for sales, then even if I could I did not have the time to play them all.

After that I stuck with one console per generation and rinsed the maximum amount of fun out of it. I did sometimes get an extra system if it was cheap later on with a bundle of games but having just one made me appreciate it much more.

I play around 10 different consoles. Feels nice to have choice. You don't have to spend all your time with one single machine.

That being said, I would have never bought a PS3 and 360 at the same time, neither PS4/One or PS5/Series. Feels completely redundant.

Agreed OP. If you enjoy online multiplayer, than having to pay for multiple subscriptions is definitely a disincentive to own more than one console. I don't mind missing out on exclusives since their are already more good games to play than there is time to play them.

I have every single platform that is relevant today and I often think of getting rid of at least one of them, but my digital Diogenes syndrome won't allow me to do so.

If I had to reduce down to a single hardware it would be PC. After PC, the only thing consoles have is convenience/UI experience and exclusives.

Xbox library has a lot of redundancy with PC, so meh. PS gives me the general TV/media box I want with exclusive games not covered by PC. I mean I'm looking forward to Halo coming out but I don't even need an Xbox to play it. FPS and RTS games dictate I need PC anyway.

If you don't have a gaming PC, I could see going Xbox. But I think you might regret ditching the PS5 when more games come out...though you could just buy back in at that point if necessary.

PS5 is hard to get, the resale value is high, and by the time it hits a critical mass of games you can't pass up maybe there will be a less garish revision. This is what I'm holding out for.

I play on all the platforms minus the Switch.

I keep the PS5 for their big exclusives and XSX for everything else because I prefer their hardware

Plus a nice PC for games I can't get on console.

Xsx and switch here. No need for ps5. I don't miss the exclusives. If there is a from exclusive I might need to rethink that, but otherwise nah I'm good.

I play xsx for game pass games and switch for Nintendo games and games better suited for mobile play. Works great for me

It’s all about games for me, so if any other consoles need to wait for their turn, so be it. Right now, all my consoles (ps5/xsx/switch) are taking a back seat and am playing a PS2 game on PS3.

PC/Steam backlog is also pretty large - but I don’t really think of it much, as I think of my PC as a workstation first and foremost. I will get around to them someday… I hope.

I tend to think, if I truly enjoyed one single game on that specific h/w exclusively - purchase of that h/w is justified.

But if I am to downsize in the future, I guess consoles would be the first to go… as more and more Japanese games come out on PC and emulation gets better.

I have a PC and a Switch as I just sold my PS4 Pro a week ago. I do not regret it as my PS4 collection is heading to PC. Unless my kids (my 7 year old son asked me for a PC) show interest in a gaming console, I think I will just stick to PC.

Sosokrates

Report me if I continue to console war
There is more then enough content on both systems to be gaming 24/7.

I just use my xsx for multiplats and ps5 for exclusives.
I probably could of kept my ps4 pro and held off getting a ps5 but i thought the longer i keep the pro the lower its resale value will be. But it turned out good because i get to play TLOU2 @ 60FPS

PC, PS5 and XBSX. If I had to lose one it would be XBSX because it is the only one I feel redundant since I get all of those games on PC minus the online tax (if not paying for GPU).
